The unvaccinated; Philippine president threatens them with prison, Italy dismisses medical personnel

Countries continue to try to reduce the number of Coronavirus infections through closures and increased vaccination campaigns, and countries differ in their campaigns and procedures to urge individuals to get vaccinated. The Italian authorities are moving to dismiss unvaccinated medical personnel and the President of the Philippines threatens individuals who refuse to receive vaccination with imprisonment.
Italian media reported that authorities have begun dismissing medical staff who have not received the Corona vaccine.
The Italian government issued a decree on fighting the Coronavirus on April 1, providing for mandatory vaccination of medical staff in hospitals and government and private medical institutions, Russia Today reported.
The decree included the possibility of excluding cadres who did not receive the vaccine from work until December 31, 2021.
Information on cadres who refused to vaccinate was necessary until April 16th, but the operation lasted more than two months. Now the authorities have begun to dismiss the first batch of cadres.
Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza announced on Friday that the vaccination campaign would be voluntary for non-medical personnel.
According to official information, at least 46,000 medical personnel, or 2.3% of their total number, have not yet received the vaccine.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has also threatened to lock up anyone who refuses to vaccinate himself against Corona, as the country struggles with one of the worst outbreaks in Asia, with 1.3 million cases and 23,000 deaths.
“You have to choose between vaccine or prison,” Duterte said in a televised address after reports of low turnout at a number of vaccination sites in Manila.
“Make no mistake about me, there is a crisis in this country… I am disturbed by the lack of response of Filipinos to the government.”
As of June 20, Philippine authorities had vaccinated 2.1 million people in full, which means the country is still far from the government’s goal of vaccinating up to 70 million this year in a country of 110 million.

وكانت الحكومة الإيطالية قد أصدرت مرسوما بشأن محاربة فيروس كورونا في 1 أبريل الماضي، ينص على التطعيم الإلزامي للكوادر الطبية في المستشفيات والمؤسسات الطبية الحكومية والخاصة، وفقاً لموقع روسيا اليوم.
وتضمن المرسوم إمكانية إقصاء الكوادر الذين لم يتلقوا اللقاح عن العمل حتى 31 ديسمبر 2021.
وكان من الضروري تقديم المعلومات حول الكوادر الذين رفضوا التطعيم حتى 16 أبريل، لكن العملية استغرقت أكثر من شهرين. والآن بدأت السلطات بفصل الدفعة الأولى من الكوادر.
وكان وزير الصحة الإيطالي روبرتو سبيرانتسا قد أعلن يوم الجمعة أن حملة التطعيم ستكون طوعية لغير الكوادر الطبية.
وحسب المعلومات الرسمية، فإن ما لا يقل عن 46 ألفا من الكوادر الطبية، أو 2.3% من عددهم الإجمالي، لم يتلقوا اللقاح بعد.
كما وهدد الرئيس الفلبيني رودريجو دوتيرتي بحبس كل من يرفض تطعيمه ضد كورونا، فيما تكافح البلاد واحدة من أسوأ موجات تفشي المرض في آسيا، حيث سجلت 1.3 مليون إصابة، و23 ألف وفاة.
وقال دوتيرتي في كلمة نقلها التلفزيون بعد ورود تقارير عن انخفاض الإقبال في عدد من مواقع التطعيم في العاصمة مانيلا: “عليكم الاختيار ما بين اللقاح أو السجن”.
وأضاف: “لا تخطئوا فهمي، هناك أزمة في هذا البلد… أنا منزعج من عدم استجابة الفلبينيين للحكومة”.
وحتى 20 يونيو، قامت السلطات الفلبينية بتطعيم 2.1 مليون شخص بالكامل وهو ما يعني أن البلاد لا تزال بعيدة عن هدف الحكومة المتمثل في تطعيم ما يصل إلى 70 مليونا هذا العام في بلد يبلغ عدد سكانه 110 ملايين نسمة.
