Qatar TV: 53 Years of Giving, Brilliance, Success

Doha: Qatar Television is celebrating the 53rd anniversary of the launch of its official broadcast which falls on Aug. 15, 1970, around two years after the launch of Qatar Radio broadcasting in 1968.
On that day, Arab viewers were on time with a new Arabic screen that would join the list of Arabic and international channels to convey an integrated and honest image of Qatar to its viewers. In addition to conveying the aspirations and ambitions of its citizens, their past, present, culture, and heritage of their ancestors.

This date represents a proud memory for every citizen and media person in Qatar. It is also a dear and precious occasion in the hearts of everyone who lives in Qatar, especially those who witnessed the launch of the Qatari screen and its broadcast to the Arab viewer for the first time, in a journey that is more than five decades now, of giving, loyalty, brilliance, and success.

The launch of Qatar TV came with the increasing importance of the media and its emergence as a means, message, and content, as well as its role in promoting societies by connecting them with sound, image, and word to various events, and developments in all parts around the globe.

Since that day, 52 years ago, Qatar TV has become a permanent guest in every home across the country through its news bulletins and political, economic, religious, cultural, sports, scientific and medical programs, in addition to Arab and foreign series and films that made Qatar TV a leading and distinguished channel on the region’s screens.

Through its various programs and events, Qatar TV has contributed to promoting loyalty and belonging principles, as well as preserving Arab and Islamic identity and the social and cultural values of Qatari society. Qatar TV also formed a station for media and journalism students who wish to enter the arenas of video broadcasting and provide them with experiences and training that increase their professional competencies. In addition, Qatar TV represented an active media arena to encourage national cadres and produce dramatic and artistic works and various media programs.

The beginning of Qatar TV was in 1970 when Qatar State TV was established. Qatar TV began its broadcast in black and white, while the first color broadcast was in 1974.

In 1982, Qatar TV launched channel 37 in English broadcast, through which American and Indian series were broadcasted as well as documentary and comedy programs.
Qatar TV channel 37 used to broadcast sports matches and significant events on air and stopped broadcasting on July 27, 2014. In 1981, Studio 4 for the television business was opened on Qatar Tv which was closed after 20 years and became part of the beIN Sports building.

In 1998, the satellite transmission for Qatar TV channel 1 started through Arabsat, Nilesat, and Hotbird satellites.

Qatar TV, like other national media, has received the full sponsorship of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and all officials in charge of the Qatar Media Corporation, to carry out its mission efficiently, and to continue its path and develop its programs and services provided to viewers.

Qatar TV went through many phases of development. The first development was in 2001, when the shape of the television changed in terms of the logo, program pattern, breaks and advertisements, to keep pace with the satellite broadcast. It started producing historical dramas annually during the month of Ramadan, such as the series Omar. In mid-2011, the establishment of a new studio for programs near the TV building was announced, and the first program to broadcast from it before its official opening was the Al Liwan competition program in 2011 during the month of Ramadan, after which work was stopped until it was fully equipped and officially opened and was handed over to the television support and development committee.

The second development for Qatar TV was in 2011, as a comprehensive new development of Qatar TV was announced under the auspices of the television support and development committee, chaired by Talal Al Attiyah. Accordingly, a new building for Qatar TV was constructed adjacent to the program studio that was built at the time, and it was equipped with the latest international broadcasting equipment.

Qatar TV is one of the first Arab channels to fully include these modern devices and equipment. Another studio has been built within the new building, allocated to broadcasting news bulletins.
The new launch of Qatar TV was at 3:30 Doha time on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012. The channel stopped broadcasting from the old building after the news bulletin. Then, by 7:30 of the same day, the new version of the TV channel went on air for the first time, with the channels third and new logo, graphics, content, and with new faces behind the screen. Qatar TV now broadcasted using a FULL HD 1080i system, making it the first Gulf and Arab channel to utilize this technology, without encryption.

Qatar TV had three different logos over its history, with the Falcon being the first, designed by the Qatar TV Designer at that time, and the designer of the State of Qatars Coat of Arms, Egyptian Fouad Mohammad Ahmad Al Shibiny. The first logo was adopted since the TVs establishment until the end of the year 2000. The logos design was distinguished by its compound design including a falcon; being the most prominent expression of Arab heritage, the transmission tower-still in existence- in the center of the logo, with vintage film reels right at the bottom of the logo, which were in use in the past by televisions prior to digital tapes.

The second logo on the other hand was of an Al Dana pearl, designed by the Qatari Visual Artist Mohammed Ali Abdullah. This logo was in use starting early 2001, until Dec. 16, 2012.

The logos design was distinguished by the creative merging of elements together, namely: the circular arched shape, inspired by the traditional motifs used to decorate doors and windows, and the Al Dana -the largest and most expensive type of pearls- in the center of the logo. Adorning the circular arched shape and surrounding the Al Dana pearl were the nine triangles inspired by the Qatari flag. Finally the Arabic letter (qaf); the first letter in the name of Qatar in Arabic, shown as a result of the space between the circular arched shape, Al Dana, and using two of the nine triangles.

Put together, the design symbolizes the profession of pearl diving practiced by the forefathers in Qatar and the Gulf in general.

As for the third and current Qatar TV logo, it was adopted on Dec. 16, 2012 with the new launch of the TV channel. What distinguishes it is its extremely simple design, where it consists of the word Qatar in Arabic in bold, with Qatar in English underneath it in a small font.

Furthermore, the channel continues to strive in keeping up with the latest updates and innovations in the domain, to ensure the Arab viewer with the best and most creative.

The Qatar Media Corporation is keen on keeping the channel true to its message, to its viewers, and to excellence, where it is under continuous development and modernization of its technologies, content, and approach to the Arab viewer, in service of national and Arab goals, as well as human aspirations.

Television in general and in various parts of the world has become a symbol of the advancement of communications and the spread of globalization across the contemporary world. TV viewers are increasing day by day, an indication of the importance of this media apparatus and its role in directing and shaping public opinion, transmitting the event, increasing the culture of viewers of all age groups, and raising awareness of important issues and various challenges facing our societies and our planet.

الدوحة: أشعل تلفزيون قطر، شمعة جديدة في مسيرته المباركة، احتفالا بالذكرى السنوية الثالثة والخمسين لانطلاق بثه الرسمي، في الخامس عشر من أغسطس عام 1970، وذلك بعد عامين تقريبا من انطلاق بث إذاعة قطر عام 1968.

وظل ذلك اليوم محفورا وخالدا في ذاكرة المشاهدين القطريين والعرب، فقد كانوا على موعد مع ميلاد شاشة عربية جديدة تنضم إلى قائمة الشاشات وقنوات البث التلفزيوني العربي والدولي لتنقل للمشاهدين صورة متكاملة وصادقة عن دولة قطر الواقعة على ضفاف الخليج في شرق الوطن العربي، وعن تطلعات أبنائها وحاضرهم وماضيهم وطموحاتهم وعطائهم وإنتاجهم وثقافتهم وعاداتهم وتقاليدهم وثرات آبائهم وأجدادهم.

ويشكل هذا التاريخ ذكرى يفتخر بها كل مواطن وكل إعلامي على أرض الوطن، وهي أيضا مناسبة عزيزة وغالية على قلوب كل من سكن هذه الأرض الطيبة، وخصوصا أولئك الذين عاصروا انطلاقة الشاشة القطرية ومخاطبتها للمشاهد العربي لأول مرة، في مسيرة يزيد عمرها اليوم عن خمسة عقود، اتسمت وتميزت على الدوام بالتفوق والعطاء والوفاء والتألق والنجاح.

جاء ميلاد تلفزيون الدولة الرسمي وانطلاق بثه وبرامجه المتنوعة ونشراته الإخبارية، في وقت تزايدت فيه أهمية الإعلام، وبروزه كوسيلة حديثة للتواصل ومخاطبة الجماهير، ودوره في الرقي بالمجتمعات والنهوض بها عبر ربطها بالصوت والصورة والكلمة الصادقة بمختلف الأحداث والتطورات والمستجدات في جميع أرجاء المعمورة.

ومنذ ذلك اليوم قبل ثلاثة وخمسين عاما، أصبح تلفزيون قطر ضيفا حاضرا في كل منزل عبر مختلف الأرجاء والبقاع والمؤسسات في هذا الوطن، من خلال نشراته الإخبارية وبرامجه السياسية والاقتصادية والدينية والثقافية والرياضية والعلمية والفنية والطبية، فضلا عن المسلسلات والأفلام العربية والأجنبية وغيرها، متألقا ومتميزا في إبداعاته وعطائه وريادته بين شاشات المنطقة الخليجية خصوصا والوطن العربي بشكل عام، وقد نالت برامجه وإنتاجه الكثير من الجوائز في ساحات المنافسة الإعلامية العربية.

وقد أسهم التلفزيون، عبر برامجه وفعالياته المختلفة، في تعزيز الولاء والانتماء والحفاظ على الهوية العربية والإسلامية والقيم الاجتماعية والثقافية للشعب القطري، كما شكل محطة لطلبة الإعلام والصحافة الراغبين في دخول ساحات البث المرئي وتزويدهم بالخبرات والتدريبات اللازمة التي تزيد كفاءاتهم المهنية، ومثل ساحة ومنصة إعلامية نشطة لتشجيع الكوادر الوطنية وإنتاج الأعمال الدرامية والفنية والبرامج المتنوعة.

وكانت بداية بث تلفزيون قطر عام 1970 بالأبيض والأسود، وفي عام 1974 بدأ بثه بالإرسال الملون، وفي عام 1982 انطلق بث القناة الثانية 37 باللغة الإنجليزية، وعرض من خلالها المسلسلات والأفلام الأمريكية والهندية، وكذلك البرامج الوثائقية والفكاهية.

كما كانت تنقل المباريات الرياضية والمناسبات الهامة على الهواء، علما أنه تم إيقاف بث هذه القناة في 27 / 7 / 2014، وفي عام 1981 افتتح في تلفزيون قطر استديو للأعمال التلفزيونية (استديو 4)، الذي تم إغلاقه بعد 20 سنة من افتتاحه وأصبح جزءا من مبنى “بي إن سبورت”، الجزيرة الرياضية سابقا. وفي عام 1998 بدأ البث الفضائي للقناة الأولى عبر الأقمار الصناعية، مثل عرب سات، ونايل سات، وهوت بيرد.

وقد حظي تلفزيون قطر، كغيره من وسائل الإعلام الوطنية، برعاية كاملة من حضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، وكافة المسؤولين القائمين على المؤسسة القطرية للإعلام، كي يؤدي رسالته بكفاءة وتألق، ويواصل مسيرته وتطوير برامجه وخدماته المقدمة لجمهور المشاهدين.

وقد مر تلفزيون قطر بالعديد من المراحل والمحطات التطويرية، وجاء التطوير الأول عام 2001، حيث تغير شكل التلفزيون من حيث الشعار ونمط البرامج والفواصل والإعلانات وغيرها، ليواكب البث الفضائي الذي انتقل إليه، وأصبح ينتج الأعمال الدرامية التاريخية سنويا في شهر رمضان المبارك، كمسلسل “عمر”، وفي منتصف عام 2011 تم الإعلان عن إنشاء استوديو جديد للبرامج بالقرب من مبنى التلفزيون، وكان أول برنامج يبث منه قبل افتتاحه رسميا هو برنامج المسابقات “الليوان” عام 2011 في شهر رمضان المبارك، وبعدها تم إيقاف العمل فيه لحين تجهيزه بالكامل وافتتاحه رسميا، وقد تم تسليمه للجنة دعم وتطوير العمل التلفزيوني.

وجاء التطوير الثاني لتلفزيون قطر منتصف عام 2011، حيث تم الإعلان عن خطة تطوير جديدة وشاملة له تحت إشراف لجنة دعم وتطوير العمل التلفزيوني، وتم إنشاء مبنى جديد له ملاصق لاستوديو البرامج الذي تم بناؤه آنذاك، وجرى تزويده بأحدث أجهزة البث العالمية.

ويعتبر تلفزيون قطر من أوائل القنوات العربية التي تضم تلك الأجهزة والمعدات الحديثة بالكامل، كما تم بناء استوديو آخر بداخل المبنى الجديد، وهو مخصص لبث نشرات الأخبار.

وكانت الانطلاقة الجديدة لتلفزيون قطر في الثالثة والنصف بتوقيت الدوحة من يوم الأحد الموافق 16 / 12 / 2012، بعد أن توقف بثه من المبنى القديم عقب نشرة الأخبار، وعند الساعة السابعة والنصف من اليوم ذاته انطلق تلفزيون قطر بشكل ومضمون جديدين، حيث تغير شعار القناة، الذي يعتبر الثالث من نوعه بعد شعاري الصقر والدانة، كما ظهرت وجوه جديدة شابة على الشاشة من مذيعي برامج وأخبار، وتم بث القناة بنظام FULL HD 1080i، ما جعلها أول قناه خليجية وعربية تبث بهذا النظام من غير تشفير.

ولتلفزيون قطر ثلاثة شعارات حتى الآن، وكان الصقر هو أولها وصممه مهندس الديكور بتلفزيون قطر في ذلك الوقت المصري فؤاد محمد أحمد الشبيني الذي صمم شعار دولة قطر واستخدم الشعار في بدايات افتتاح تلفزيون قطر وحتى نهاية عام 2000، حيث تميز الشعار بعدة أمور مركبة هي: الصقر وهو الجزء الأبرز فيه ويعبر عن الأصالة العربية، ثم برج الإرسال الأرضي ويقع في الجزء الأوسط من الشعار، ويستخدم البرج في البث الأرضي ولا يزال موجودا حتى الآن ويمكن للمار بالقرب من مبنى التلفزيون مشاهدته، ثم البكرات وتقع بالجزء السفلي من الشعار، والتي كانت تستخدم قديما في التلفزيونات قبل الاعتماد على الأشرطة الرقمية لبث مواد الفيديو.

أما الدانة، فكانت الشعار الثاني لتلفزيون قطر وهي من تصميم الفنان التشكيلي القطري محمد علي عبدالله، وقد استخدم الشعار منذ مطلع عام 2001 وحتى 16 / 12 / 2012، وكان ذلك مع التطوير الأول والشكل الجديد الذي ظهر عليه التلفزيون آنذاك، وقد مرت عليه عدة تغييرات من حيث الحجم والإضاءة وتغيير موقعه من على الشاشة، وهي أمور طفيفة ربما لم تلاحظها الغالبية من المشاهدين.

وتميز تصميم الشعار بدمج عناصر ببعضها بشكل متناسق إبداعي، هي: الهيكل الرئيسي للشعار: وهو الشكل الدائري المقوس، المستوحى من الزخارف التراثية المستخدمة في تزيين الأبواب والنوافذ، ثم الدانة (وهي أكبر أنواع اللآلئ وأغلاها ثمنا) الموجودة في وسط الشعار، ويرمز الشعار إلى مهنة الغوص التي كان يعمل بها الآباء والأجداد في قطر والخليج عامة، ثم المثلثات التسعة وهي الموجودة بداخل الشكل الدائري المقوس، والمحيطة بالدانة، وهي ترمز إلى عدد المثلثات الموجودة في العلم القطري، ثم حرف القاف، فعند أخذ الفراغ الموجود في وسط الشعار – ما بين الزخرفة الدائرية والدانة – مع أخذ مثلثين من المثلثات التسعة الموجودة في الأعلى، ينتج عن ذلك حرف (ق) وهو الحرف الأول من اسم قطر.

أما الشعار الثالث لتلفزيون قطر فهو الشعار الحالي الذي اعتمد في 16 / 12 / 2012 مع الانطلاقة الجديدة للتلفزيون، وتميز ببساطته الشديدة، حيث يضم اسم قطر باللغة العربية وبخط عريض وتحته اسم قطر باللغة الإنجليزية بخط صغير.

ويواصل تلفزيون قطر مسيرته الحافلة بالعطاء والإبداع ومواكبة التطور التقني من أجل تقديم الأفضل والأجمل والأروع والأسرع والأحدث للمشاهد العربي في كل مكان.

ويحرص القائمون على المؤسسة القطرية للإعلام على إبقاء شعلة الحماس متقدة بتلفزيون قطر وكوادره المختلفة كي يواصل مسيرته مخلصا لرسالته، وفيا لمشاهديه ومتابعيه، متطلعا للمزيد من التطور والتحديث في مضمونه ومحتواه وبرامجه وتواصله مع المشاهدين العرب أينما كانوا خدمة للأهداف الوطنية والعربية والتطلعات الإنسانية.

وقد بات التلفزيون عموما وفي شتى الأصقاع رمزا لرقي الاتصالات وانتشار العولمة عبر العالم المعاصر، ويزداد متابعوه ومشاهدوه يوما بعد يوم في مؤشر على أهمية هذا الجهاز الإعلامي ودوره في توجيه وتشكيل الرأي العام ونقل الحدث وزيادة ثقافة المشاهدين على مختلف فئاتهم العمرية وزيادة الوعي بالقضايا المهمة والتحديات المختلفة التي تواجه مجتمعاتنا وكوكبنا.
