HBKU College of Law to showcase new degrees

The College of Law (CL) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has announced that it will host an information session to showcase its new LLM (Master of Laws) degrees to current and prospective students on June 26.
The session will be held in Conference Room 1 at Minaratein from 6pm.
The pioneering degrees – an LLM in International Law and Foreign Affairs and an LLM in International Economic and Business Law – are at the intersection of the legal, business and entrepreneurship sectors, and designed to cross the lines of single-discipline studies, HBKU has said in a statement. Dr Susan L Karamanian, dean of CL, said, “Each of the two degrees is designed to address Qatar’s current legal and business trends, and thus equip Qatari and international graduates with the tools to work in top level positions in government, law firms, multinational organisations and the judiciary.
“We invite prospective students with an interest in pursuing their graduate studies in law to attend the session to obtain detailed information about the degrees and the admissions requirements, and have their questions thoroughly answered.”
The programmes are offered in English by renowned academics and practitioners recognised in their fields of expertise, who will be available to answer specific questions regarding the curriculum.
Attendees will also have the chance to meet our admissions team to discuss programmes and application requirements.
CL introduced the LLM in International Law and Foreign Affairs and an LLM in International Economics and Business Law degrees in May at a university-wide event, which garnered the interest of more than 400 potential applicants in Qatar.
The college was established to provide highly selective and demanded programmes that assist and align with Qatar’s national developmental goals, as well as the aspirations of key sectors and industries.
HBKU’s College of Law offers multidisciplinary graduate programmes that equip students with the skills to navigate complex civil, common and Shariah law systems.
The college’s Juris Doctor programme is the first graduate law degree of its kind offered in the region and is now offered in parallel with the college’s LLM degrees, the statement adds. For more details about the information session and to register to attend, one can visit the HBKU website.
تستضيف كلية القانون في جامعة حمد بن خليفة يوم 26 يونيو الجاري جلسة تعريفية لاستعراض برامج الماجستير الجديدة في القانون، بحضور الطلاب الحاليين والمحتملين.
وتمثل هذه البرامج الرائدة، وهي: الماجستير في القانون الدولي والشؤون الخارجية، والماجستير في القانون الاقتصادي والتجاري الدولي، نقطة التقاء بين قطاعات القانون، والأعمال، وريادة المشاريع، وقد صُممت لتتجاوز حدود الدراسات أحادية التخصص.
وفي هذا الصدد، قالت الدكتورة سوزان إل. كارامانيان، عميد كلية القانون: «تم صميم هذين البرنامجين لتناول التوجهات القانونية والتجارية الحالية في قطر، ومن ثَم تزويد الطلاب القطريين والدوليين بالأدوات اللازمة للعمل في المناصب العليا بالمؤسسات الحكومية، وشركات المحاماة، والمؤسسات متعددة الجنسيات، والأجهزة القضائية.
وأضافت: «نحن ندعو الطلاب المحتملين المهتمين بمتابعة دراساتهم العليا في القانون لحضور الجلسة للحصول على معلوماتٍ مفصلة حول هذه البرامج واشتراطات القبول والأسئلة المتعلقة بها».
ويقدم هذه البرامج باللغة الإنجليزية أكاديميون ومختصون مرموقون في مجالات خبراتهم، وسيكون هؤلاء حاضرين للإجابة عن أسئلة محددة بشأن المقررات الدراسية. وستتاح للحضور فرصة مقابلة فريق القبول لمناقشة البرامج واشتراطات القبول.
وتقدم كلية القانون في جامعة حمد بن خليفة برامج دراسات عليا متعددة التخصصات تزود الطلاب بالمهارات اللازمة للتبحر في دراسة أنظمة القانون المدني، والقانون العام، والشريعة الإسلامية. ويُعد برنامج «دكتور في القانون» الذي تقدمه الكلية أول برنامج من نوعه في القانون يُقدم في المنطقة لطلاب الدراسات العليا.
