Berlin: Experts have revealed a huge gamma radiation explosion more than a billion light-years from Earth, the largest explosion in the universe captured by astronomers’ camera.
The explosive event saw the death of a star and the beginning of its transformation into a black hole, according to experts from Germany’s Electron Synchrotron in Hamburg.
This was a huge gamma ray explosion, consisting of a combination of bright gamma rays flashes and X-rays observed in the sky, emitted from distant sources outside the galaxy.
It was discovered by Fermi and Swift space telescopes, supported by the High Energy Stereoscopic System Telescope (H.E.S.S.), located on Earth in Namibia.
The German team that monitored the explosion said: “it is the most active radiation and the longest subsequent gamma ray aurora from any gamma radiation explosion detected so far. Previous Gamma ray explosions were an average of 20 billion light years away”.

برلين: كشف خبراء عن انفجار ضخم لأشعة جاما على بُعد أكثر من مليار سنة ضوئية من الأرض، ليكون أكبر انفجار في الكون التُقط بواسطة كاميرا علماء الفلك.
وشهد الحدث المُتفجّر موت نجم وبداية تحوله إلى ثقب أسود، وفقًا لخبراء من Electron Synchrotron الألمانية في هامبورج.
وكان هذا انفجارًا ضخمًا لأشعة جاما، يتكون من مزيج من ومضات أشعة جاما الساطعة والأشعة السينية التي لوحظت في السماء، المُنبعثة من مصادر بعيدة خارج المجرة.
واكتُشف بواسطة تلسكوبات Fermi وSwift الفضائية، بدعم من تلسكوب النظام المُجسّم عالي الطاقة (H.E.S.S) الموجود على الأرض في ناميبيا. ويقول الفريق الألماني الذي رصده: إنه الإشعاع الأكثر نشاطًا وأطول شفق لاحق لأشعة جاما من أي انفجار لأشعة جاما اكتُشف حتى الآن. وكانت انفجارات أشعة جاما السابقة على بُعد 20 مليار سنة ضوئية في المُتوسط.
