Dangerous warehouses on Dukhan road

Doha: Located in Um Shahreen storage area near Umm Al Afaei area on Dukhan-Shahaniya road, dozens of warehouses belonging to people and companies engaged in various activities and selling goods and commodities, including home carpets in a manner that lacks the most basic standards of security and public safety in the absence of control from the concerned authorities, these warehouses pose a threat to workers and customers who flock to them and deal with them, as they are spreading unregulated, and do not have any major services, as there is no electricity so they depend on generators, there are no paved roads to reach them, let alone the spread of random waste everywhere, and the presence of stray dogs here and there.

These warehouses have become a time bomb that could cause disaster in the event of a fire in any of them that could extend to other warehouses containing quantities and tons of carpets and other flammable materials, especially since they are located near each other and were built with metal sheeting which is considered a transporter of heat and fires and in this case it is difficult to control the fire easily, resulting in significant losses, including human losses.

Although these stores are considered an economic power and work to serve the Qatari consumer, in addition to providing local stores and markets with all the carpets they need, neglecting them and leaving them in this chaotic way without developing them reflects an uncivilized image, distorting the general view of the area where these stores are located.

During Al-Sharq tour of the warehouses, the spread of waste was monitored everywhere, the area was clearly neglected, as well as stray dogs, and other warehouses with piles of wood that pose a threat to the entire area, reflecting the dire situation in the area, which contain dozens of active and closed warehouses.

الدوحة: تتواجد في منطقة أم أشهرين للتخزين الواقعة بالقرب من منطقة أم الأفاعي على طريق دخان – الشيحانية، عشرات المخازن التابعة لأشخاص وشركات تعمل بأنشطة مختلفة وتبيع بضائع وسلعا متنوعة منها السجاد المنزلي بأسلوب يفتقر لأبسط معايير الأمن والسلامة العامة في ظل غياب الرقابة من الجهات المعنية، وتشكل هذه المخازن خطرا على العمال والعملاء الذين يتوافدون إليها ويتعاملون معها، حيث انها تنتشر بصورة غير منظمة، ولا تتوافر فيها أي خدمات رئيسية، فلا كهرباء تصل إليها، حيث انها تعمل عن طريق المولدات الكهربائية، ولا توجد طرق معبدة توصل إليها، ناهيك عن انتشار المخلفات العشوائية في كل مكان، ووجود الكلاب الضالة هنا وهناك.

وأصبحت هذه المخازن قنبلة موقوتة من الممكن ان تتسبب بوقوع كارثة في حال نشوب حريق في أي منها وانتقاله الى المخازن الاخرى التي تحتوي على كميات واطنان من السجاد والمواد الاخرى القابلة للاشتعال، خاصة انها تقع بالقرب من بعضها وتم بناؤها بالصفائح المعدنية “الشينكو” الذي يعتبر ناقلا للحرارة والحرائق ويصعب في هذه الحالة السيطرة على الحريق بسهولة مما يؤدي إلى خسائر كبيرة بما فيها الخسائر البشرية.

وبالرغم من ان هذه المخازن تعتبر قوة اقتصادية وتعمل على خدمة المستهلك القطري، بالإضافة إلى انها تمد المحلات والأسواق المحلية بكل ما تحتاجه من السجاد بأنواعه، إلا ان إهمالها وتركها بهذه الطريقة الفوضوية دون تطويرها يعكس صورة غير حضارية، ومشوهة للمنظر العام للمنطقة التي تقع بها تلك المخازن.

وخلال جولة “الشرق” بين المخازن تم رصد انتشار المخلفات في كل مكان، واهمال المنطقة بشكل واضح، علاوة على انتشار الكلاب الضالة، ووجود مخازن أخرى تتواجد بها أكوام من الاخشاب التي تشكل خطرا على المنطقة برمتها، وهو ما يعكس الحالة المزرية التي تعاني منها المنطقة التي تحتوي على عشرات المخازن منها العاملة ومنها المغلقة.
