Qatar’s Purple Island named among 50 Best Islands In The World

Doha: Purple Island in Qatar was named one of the Best Islands in the World in a diverse list that spans from the secluded island of Mnemba in Tanzania to the Aegean paradise island of Bozcaada in Turkey.
Global travel site Big 7 Travel released the annual list of ‘The 50 Best Islands In The World’ recently based on aggregated scores from previous social media results and contributions from the Big 7 Travel editorial team.
The website listed Purple Island, Qatar, describing it as an island with a fascinating history as it once was a temporary campsite for trade with Bahrain and used by fishermen and pearl divers since 2000 BCE.
It added, “everyone’s talking about Qatar this year thanks to the Fifa World Cup, but if you’re looking for some respite from the crowds, you might want to consider hopping across to one of the nation’s islands. Unlike many of Qatar’s islands, Purple Island isn’t manmade and instead boasts a fascinating history… it’s home to some fascinating ruins, as well as a wide variety of birds and marine animals.”
Some of the other islands listed include Galapagos Islands, Ecuador; Kauai, Hawaii, Cebu, Philippines; Fraser Island, Australia; Mauritius and Jamaica.

أصدر موقع السفر العالمي Big 7 Travel القائمة السنوية لـ “أفضل 50 جزيرة في العالم” مؤخراً استناداً إلى النتائج المجمعة من نتائج وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي السابقة ومساهمات فريق تحرير Big 7 Travel.
أدرج الموقع الجزيرة الأرجوانية القطرية، واصفاً إياها بأنها جزيرة ذات تاريخ رائع لأنها كانت ذات يوم موقعاً مؤقتاً للتجارة مع البحرين ويستخدمها الصيادون وغواصو اللؤلؤ منذ عام 2000 قبل الميلاد.
وأضاف الموقع: “ويتحدث الجميع عن قطر هذا العام بفضل كأس العالم لكرة القدم، ولكن إذا كنت تبحث عن بعض الراحة من الحشود، فقد ترغب في التفكير في التنقل عبر إحدى جزر الدولة. وعلى عكس العديد من جزر قطر، فإن الجزيرة الأرجوانية القطرية، ليست من صنع الإنسان وتتمع بتاريخ رائع … فهي موطن لبعض الآثار الرائعة، فضلاً عن مجموعة متنوعة من الطيور والحيوانات البحرية. “
وبعض الجزر الأخرى المدرجة تشمل جزر غالاباغوس والإكوادور؛ كاواي، هاواي، سيبو، الفلبين؛ جزيرة فريزر، أستراليا؛ موريشيوس وجامايكا.
