Washington: A snow leopard in an American zoo has become the first animal of its kind to be diagnosed with the emerging coronavirus, according to the British “Sky News” website.
The source said that the snow leopard at a zoo in Louisville, Kentucky, had suffered symptoms similar to those of Coronavirus, including a dry cough, despite the zoo employees taking the necessary precautions. After the leopard “Nessi” was subjected to a coronavirus test, the result was “positive”, while the park’s staff examined two other leopards living with “Nessi” which results are yet to be received . Tigers were not anesthetized to obtain a swab from the throat and nose, as veterinarians only tested their droppings. “Their symptoms are very mild,” said Zoo Director John Waktzak. The leopards are expected to recover soon.

واشنطن: أصبح نمر ثلجي في حديقة حيوانات أمريكية أول حيوان من نوعه يتم تشخيص إصابته بالفيروس المستجد، وفقما كشف موقع «سكاي نيوز» البريطاني.
وقال المصدر إن نمر الثلوج في حديقة حيوان بمدينة لويزفيل في ولاية كنتاكي، عانى أعراضا تشبه أعراض كورونا، بما في ذلك السعال الجاف، وذلك رغم اتخاذ موظفين الحديقة الاحتياطات الضرورية. وبعد إخضاع النمر «نيسي» لاختبار كورونا كانت النتيجة «إيجابية»، فيما أجرى موظفو الحديقة الفحص لنمرين آخرين يعيشان مع «نيسي»، ويجري حاليا انتظار النتائج. ولم يتم تخدير النمور للحصول على مسحة من الحلق والأنف، حيث اكتفى الأطباء البيطريون بإجراء الاختبار على فضلاتهم. وقال مدير حديقة الحيوان جون واكتزاك: «أعراضهم خفيفة جدا. من المتوقع أن تتعافى النمور في أقرب وقت»
