QU Completes Several Infrastructure Projects

Doha: During the past few years, Qatar University (QU) has accomplished a great development in its infrastructure, responding to the requirements of change and modernization in its academic and research buildings, scientific laboratories, and recreational facilities. It is also preparing for the opening of new projects to keep pace with the current needs and future aspirations.

In a statement during the graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2020, Vice President for Administration and Financial Affairs Dr. Khalid Al Khater said that during the past few years, QU has implemented numerous great projects, and is already preparing- for the beginning of next year, to open a group of buildings that have been completed, including the Buildings of the College of Education, College of Law, and the Student Affairs.

He explained that within the framework of the university’s urban plan, a number of projects were implemented, such as the Sports and Events Complex project, which is one of the most important facilities that host university events and sporting activities, and Ibn Al Bitar Building project, which is dedicated to the College of Pharmacy and all medical specialties, as it contains classrooms and educational and research laboratories and accommodates more than 800 students.

In addition to the university’s Housing Complex which contains ten residential apartment buildings for students as well as temporary and visiting faculty members, he added.

Dr. Al Khater announced that the university’s Club building has been completed, and it is expected to open in September at the university’s Housing Complex, pointing out that the Club represents a quantum leap at the level of recreational services, which will be designated for the university’s academic and administrative staff.

He also announced that there is a plan for all the university housing buildings to operate at full capacity during the coming period, within the framework of expansion plans as well as maintaining the current challenges related to COVID-19, adding that a strict plan has been drawn to facilitate the students’ return to university life and to regulate their entry to the campus in case the return to normal life at the campus is approved.

He highlighted QU’s endeavors to construct a building for the College of Medicine within the framework of the university’s infrastructure strengthening strategy, while work is ongoing regarding the Engineering Building, and it will be inaugurated in early 2022 with a capacity of 3,500 students.

Regarding the polarization of the Qatari cadres, QU’s Vice President for Administration and Financial Affairs said that the university is keen to attract and maintain competencies from all specialties, stressing that the university has made great strides in the field of localization and Qatarization of jobs, especially during the past four years.

He also emphasized QU’s close cooperation with the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs (ADLSA) to employ Qataris, which contributed to the employment of many, as well as their training and development of skills in accordance with the university’s requirements.

الدوحة: شهدت جامعة قطر خلال السنوات القليلة الماضية تطورا كبيرا في بنيتها التحتية، استجابة لمتطلبات التغيير والتحديث في مبانيها الأكاديمية والبحثية ومختبراتها العلمية، ومرافقها الترفيهية، كما تستعد لافتتاح مشاريع جديدة لتواكب الاحتياجات الحالية والتطلعات المستقبلية.

وقال الدكتور خالد الخاطر نائب رئيس جامعة قطر للشؤون الإدارية والمالية، في تصريح بمناسبة احتفالات الجامعة بتخريج دفعة 2020، إن جامعة قطر وعلى مدار السنوات الماضية قامت بتنفيذ حزمة من المشروعات الضخمة، وتستعد مع بداية العام المقبل لافتتاح مجموعة من المباني التي تم إنجازها، ومنها مبنى كلية التربية والقانون، ومبنى شؤون الطلاب.

وأوضح أنه في إطار الخطة العمرانية للجامعة نُفِّذ عدد من المشاريع، مثل مشروع مبنى الفعاليات والرياضات الذي يعد من أهم المرافق التي تحتضن الفعاليات الجامعية والأنشطة الرياضية ومشروع مجمع ابن البيطار المخصص لكلية الصيدلة وجميع التخصصات الطبية ويحتوي على قاعات دراسية ومختبرات تعليمية وبحثية ويستوعب أكثر من 800 طالب وطالبة، وكذلك مجمع السكن الطلابي الذي يضم 10 مبان للشقق السكنية للطلبة وكذلك أعضاء هيئة التدريس المؤقتين والزائرين.

وأعلن الدكتور الخاطر عن الانتهاء من نادي الجامعة الذي يتوقع افتتاحه في سبتمبر المقبل في المجمع السكني الطلابي.. مشيرا إلى أن النادي يمثل نقلة نوعية على مستوى الخدمات الترفيهية، وهو مخصص لمنتسبي الجامعة من أكاديميين وإداريين.

كما أعلن عن وجود خطة لتشغيل جميع مباني السكن الجامعي لتعمل بطاقتها الكاملة خلال الفترة المقبلة، في إطار خطط التوسع ومواجهة التحديات الراهنة المتعلقة بكوفيد-19.. مضيفا أن جامعة قطر وضعت خطة محكمة لتسهيل عودة الطلبة إلى الحياة الجامعية وتنظيم دخولهم إلى الحرم الجامعي في حالة الموافقة على العودة الطبيعية داخل الحرم الجامعي.

وأشار أيضا إلى مساعي جامعة قطر لإنشاء مبنى لكلية الطب في إطار استراتيجية تعزيز البنية التحتية في الجامعة، بينما يجري العمل على مبنى الهندسة وافتتاحه مع بداية عام 2022 وبطاقة استيعابية تصل إلى 3500 طالب ويضم مراكز كلية الهندسة وورشها.

وأضاف أن من المشاريع التي يتم التخطيط لها مبنى كلية الشريعة، وكذلك مبنى الخدمات الإدارية الذي يتوقع أن يضم كل الإدارات الموجودة في الجامعة والتي تحتاج إلى مكاتب متخصصة.. متوقعا أن يبدأ تنفيذ هذا المشروع في المستقبل القريب.

وعن استقطاب الكوادر القطرية، قال نائب رئيس جامعة قطر للشؤون الإدارية والمالية، إن الجامعة حريصة على استقطاب الكفاءات في جميع التخصصات والمحافظة عليها.. مؤكدا أن الجامعة قطعت شوطا كبيرا في مجال توطين وتقطير الوظائف لاسيما خلال السنوات الأربع الماضية التي شهدت تعيين 324 قطريا في مختلف الإدارات وابتعاث 93 أكاديميا لإكمال دراستهم العليا وتعيينهم معيدين.

كما أكد التعاون الوثيق مع وزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون لاجتماعية لتوظيف القطريين والذي أثمر توظيف عدد منهم، وتدريبيهم وتطوير مهاراتهم بما يتناسب مع متطلبات الجامعة.
