مجموعة شاطئ البحر تتعاون مع متحف الفن الإسلامي لصيانة منحوتة “7”

Doha: The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA), in cooperation with the Seashore Group, recently carried out a clean-up operation to restore international artist Richard Serra’s “7” sculpture, located at MIA Park along the corniche.
Commenting on the restoration works, Ahmad Musa Al Namla, CEO of Qatar Museums, said: “Public art is one of Qatar Museums’ main pillars in which we aim to expand the traditional mission of museums by taking art beyond four walls and breathing life into shared urban spaces. Richard Serra’s installation celebrates the significance of the number seven in Islamic culture and is considered to be his first artwork in the Middle East. We are pleased to cooperate with the Seashore Group to clean this striking sculpture.”
Salem Saadi Al Mohannadi, CEO of Seashore Group, said: “By cleaning the ‘7’ sculpture at the Museum of Islamic Art Park, we are pleased to contribute to the preservation of public artworks in Qatar – a project that falls within the framework of our company’s corporate social responsibility program. The Museum of Islamic Art has many partnerships that aim to further enrich Qatar’s thriving cultural landscape and enhance the role of the private sector in transforming Qatar into a vital centre for arts and culture in the region.”
Qatar Museums commissioned Serra to create the “7” sculpture following a personal recommendation from Eng. I. M. Pei, who designed the iconic Museum of Islamic Art building. The installation, consisting of seven steel sheets each 24 metres in height, took approximately three years to complete. The sculpture was officially unveiled in 2011.
Serra’s installation is the result of a collaboration between Qatar Museums and local and international artists to add vibrancy to public spaces in Qatar and enrich the lives of residents and visitors.
The Seashore Group support the efforts of Qatar Museums to create a sustainable cultural infrastructure. The company sponsored the museum’s educational activities between 2019 and 2020.
Seashore Group, in partnership with Qatar Museums and the Al Shamal Municipality, is currently participating in a campaign to clean beaches in heritage villages across Qatar.

الدوحة: في إطار اتفاقية شراكة بين متحف الفن الإسلامي ومجموعة شاطئ البحر، تم مؤخرا تنفيذ عملية صيانة منحوتة “7” للفنان العالمي ريتشارد سيرا الواقعة على الواجهة البحرية في حديقة المتحف.
وعلق السيد أحمد موسى النملة، الرئيس التنفيذي لمتاحف قطر، قائلا: ” يعد الفن العام من الركائز الرئيسية لمتاحف قطر التي تسعى إلى توسيع نطاق المهام التقليدية للمتاحف بتوفير تجارب ثقافية للناس في الساحات العامة خارج جدران المتاحف، وفي هذا الإطار تأتي منحوتة “7” التي أراد من خلالها الفنان ريتشارد سيرا الاحتفاء بهذا الرقم وبدلالاته، ويسرنا التعاون مع مجموعة شاطئ البحر لصيانة هذه المنحوتة التي تعتبر أول عمل فني للفنان سيرا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط.”
من جانبه، قال السيد سالم سعيد المهندي الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة شاطئ البحر:” يسعدنا من خلال صيانة منحوتة “7” بحديقة المتحف الفن الإسلامي، المساهمة في الحفاظ على أعمال الفن العام في دولة قطر وذلك في إطار المسؤولية الاجتماعية للشركة.. تربطنا مع متاحف قطر بشكل عام ومتحف الفن الإسلامي بشكل خاص العديد من الشراكات الهادفة إلى إثراء المشهد الثقافي المزدهر للبلاد، وتعزيز دور القطاع الخاص في تحويل دولة قطر إلى مركزٍ حيوي للفنون والثقافة في المنطقة.”
وقامت مجموعة شاطئ البحر بعملية الصيانة على نفقتها الخاصة، بإشراف من فريق الترميم التابع لمتحف الفن الإسلامي.
يذكر أن ريتشارد سيرا قام بصنع منحوتة “7” بتكليف من هيئة متاحف قطر وتوصيّة شخصيّة من المهندس آي.إم.باي الذي قام بتصميم بناء متحف الفن الإسلامي المجاور… وقد استغرق العمل، المتكون من 7 صفائح فولاذية بارتفاع 24 مترا، على المشروع حوالي ثلاث سنوات ازيحت في نهايتها الستارة رسميّاً عن المنحوتة في 2011.
ويُعد هذا العمل الفني أحد ثمار استراتيجية التعاون بين متاحف قطر وكبار الفنانين العالميين، الرامية إلى إنتاج أعمال فنية، ونشرها في الأماكن العامة بدولة قطر، لإثراء حياة سكانها وزائريها.
وتعتبر مجموعة شاطئ البحر أحد الشركات الداعمة لجهود متاحف قطر الرامية إلى إنشاء بنية تحتية ثقافية مستدامة، حيث قامت الشركة برعاية أنشطة متحف الفن الإسلامي التعليمية بين عامي 2019 و2020، وتشارك حاليا في حملة تنظيف شواطئ القرى التراثية على طول سواحل قطر بالشراكة مع متاحف قطر وبلدية الشمال.
