Ooredoo partners with KaiOS to launch smart feature phones

Doha: Ooredoo, the region’s leading enabler of digital business innovation, at Mobile World Congress 2019, announced a partnership with global technology company KaiOS Technologies to drive Qatar’s business growth and enhance digital experiences for 500,000 feature phone users.
KaiOS Technologies powers an emerging ecosystem of affordable digital products and services. In the coming months, Ooredoo plans to pilot launch 5,000 KaiOS’s smart feature phones in Qatar, to provide essential smartphone features on affordable feature phones.
Ooredoo expects strong business demand, especially for connecting large numbers of employees working on mega-projects. KaiOS’ smart feature phones’ business-friendly features include affordability (under QR100 each), fast Wi-Fi and 4G Internet access, long battery life, and Bluetooth and GPS navigation. The feature phones are pre-loaded with Google Assistant, and Google Maps, Google Search, and YouTube, along with Facebook and WhatsApp.

وقد تم التوقيع على هذه الشراكة خلال المؤتمر العالمي للجوال، الذي اختُتمت فعالياته الأسبوع الماضي في مدينة برشلونة. وتعمل «KaiOS Technologies» على تشغيل منظومة مستحدثة من المنتجات والخدمات الرقمية المتوافرة بأسعار معقولة. وخلال الأشهر المقبلة، تخطط «ooredoo» لإطلاق 5000 هاتف «KaiOS» ذكي في قطر، تتوافر من خلالها ميزات الهواتف الذكية الأساسية وبأسعار معقولة.
وتتوقع «ooredoo» إقبالاً كبيراً على هذه الهواتف من قبل الشركات في قطر، وخصوصاً الشركات التي تسعى لتزويد أعداد كبيرة من موظفيها العاملين في المشاريع الضخمة بخدمات الاتصالات. وتشتمل ميزات هواتف «KaiOS» الذكية على خصائص تناسب الأعمال، ومن بينها التكلفة المناسبة (أقل من 100 ريال لكل منها)، وتوافر خدمة «واي-فاي» سريعة، واتصال إنترنت «4G»، وعمر بطارية يدوم لوقت أطول، و»بلوتوث»، ونظام تحديد المواقع (GPS). كما أن هذه الهواتف الجديدة مزوّدة مسبقاً بخدمة «مساعد Google» و«خرائط Google» و«بحث Google» و«YouTube»، بالإضافة إلى تطبيقات «Facebook» و«WhatsApp».
