Turtle lays 245 eggs at Fuwairit Beach

Doha: The Turtle Protection Team of the Ministry of Municipality and Environment’s Department of Protection and Wildlife witnessed a rare precedent that did not occur in previous years, through the return of a turtle to nesting and laying eggs for the third time in the same season, where the first case of nesting was recorded on April 9th with 85 eggs, and it returned on April 26 and laid (90) eggs, and on May 20th laid (70) eggs, so the final result was (245) eggs laid for the same turtle during the same season. Talib Khaled al-Hajri, director of the Department of Protection and Wildlife and head of the Turtle Protection Team, called this case “um al-Khair” because it returned again.

The endangered Hawksbill sea turtle protection project continues well amid all precautions to ensure the safety of the project’s working group.

الدوحة: شهد فريق عمل حماية السلاحف بإدارة الحماية والحياة الفطرية بوزارة البلدية والبيئة سابقة نادرة لم تحدث خلال الأعوام السابقة، من خلال عودة إحدى السلاحف للتعشيش ووضع البيض للمرة الثالثة في نفس الموسم، حيث تم تسجيل الحالة الأولى للتعشيش بتاريخ 9 أبريل الماضي بواقع (85) بيضة، والعودة بتاريخ 26 أبريل ووضع (90) بيضة، وفي تاريخ 20 مايو تم وضع (70) بيضة بناتج نهائي (245) بيضة لنفس السلحفاة خلال نفس الموسم. وقد أطلق السيد طالب خالد الهاجري، مدير إدارة الحماية والحياة الفطرية ورئيس فريق عمل حماية السلاحف على هذه الحالة «أم الخير» لعودتها مرة أخرى.

وتستمر أعمال مشروع حماية السلاحف البحرية صقرية المنقار المهددة بالانقراض بشكل جيد وسط اتخاذ كافة الاحتياطات التي تضمن سلامة الفريق العامل بالمشروع.
