Works underway on roads and infrastructure project in South Duhail and Umm Lekhba

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced that construction works on the Roads and Infrastructure Project in South Duhail and Umm Lekhba (Package 1) are currently underway. This package started in the first quarter of 2020.

It will provide full infrastructure for this area, with well-developed services and internal streets network in order to improve traffic flow and provide connectivity with public utilities in the area.

The project is located in South Duhail and Umm Lekhba areas, to the east of Al Shamal Road and west of Arab League Street. It is bordered by Al-Duhail Street to the north, and Al-Khafji Street to the south.

Eng. Rashed Al-Zeyara, Project Engineer in Ashghal’s Roads Projects Department’s Doha City Section, said: “Upon completion, this package will serve 862 residential plots. It aims to provide wide improvements in South Duhail and Umm Lekhba by rehabilitating the existing local and internal roads and turning them into well-developed roads, and raising the level of traffic safety on them to cope with the population growth in the area.”

The scope of works includes the construction of a new road network, with a total length of 21 km, in addition to 44 km of pedestrian footpaths. Works also involve upgrading street lighting systems, installing 1457 lighting poles, providing 2600 cars dedicated parking slots and carrying out landscaping and beautification works.

The project also features infrastructure services development in the area. Upon completion of all works, a 20.2-km-long foul sewer network and 20-km-long stormwater, groundwater and surface water drainage network as well as a 12.8-km-long TSE network will be constructed, in addition to other infrastructure services.

Speaking about the work progress, Eng. Rashed Al-Zeyara pointed out that 5.6 km of the stormwater and groundwater drainage network, 5.2 km of the foul sewer network, and approximately 1.4 km of the project’s overall TSE network have been successfully completed.

“The works to be carried out in the upcoming period will focus on completing the road works and the upgrading of streets and the completion of the first phase works, which are mainly paving works, landscaping, and beautification on the main streets,” he added.

The project works are divided into five phases, in order to facilitate implementation. Each phase covers a geographical area within the project boundaries. Works are being executed successively to minimize the adverse impacts of construction works on the area as much as possible, and to reduce any inconvenience to local residents. All project works are planned to be completed in Q1 of 2024.

It’s worth mentioning that the Authority plans to rely on local materials and manufacturers in most of the project’s works, with the local component comprising 70% of the total materials used. Qatari resources will be used to supply items such as gabbro, lighting poles and lamps, road signs, foul sewer and stormwater pipes, concrete and precast manholes, in addition to concrete and reinforcing steel. This comes as part of Ashghal’s support for local manufacturers and its ‘Ta’heel’ initiative launched back in 2017.

The project is currently being implemented by Petroserv Ltd. and Roadbridge Company JV, under the supervision of Gulf Engineering and Industrial Consultancy, at a total cost of QAR 422 million.

الدوحة: أعلنت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” عن تواصل تنفيذ أعمال مشروع تطوير الطرق والبنية التحتية في جنوب الدّحيل وأم لخبا، الحزمة الأولى والتي بدأت الأعمال بها في الربع الأول من السنة الماضية.

ووفقا لموقع الهيئة فإن مشروع تطوير الطرق والبنية التحتية في جنوب الدحيل أم لخبا يندرج ضمن خطة لتطوير الطرق والبنية التحتية لخدمة القسائم والأراضي السكنية للمواطنين في مناطق مختلفة في الدولة وسيتم من خلاله إنشاء بنية تحتية متكاملة توفر خدمات متطورة وشبكة شوارع داخلية من شأنها تعزيز انسيابية الحركة المرورية وتوفير الربط مع المرافق العامة بالمنطقة. ويقع المشروع في منطقة جنوب الدحيل وأم لخبا، شرق طريق الشمال وغرب شارع الجامعة العربية، يحدّه شمالاً شارع الدحيل وجنوباً شارع الخفجي.

وصرّح المهندس/ راشد الزيارة، مهندس المشروع بقسم مشاريع مدينة الدوحة بإدارة مشروعات الطرق بأشغال، أن المشروع سيخدم عند اكتماله حوالي 862 قسيمة سكنية ويهدف إلى تحقيق تحسينات واسعة في منطقة جنوب الدحيل وأم لخبا من خلال إعادة تأهيل الطرق المحلية والداخلية القائمة وتحويلها إلى طرق متطورة إلى جانب رفع مستوى السلامة المرورية عليها لتواكب النمو السكاني المتزايد في المنطقة، حيث يتضمن المشروع إنشاء شبكة طرق جديدة بطول حوالي 21 كم ومسارات مخصصة للمشاة بطول 44 كم إلى جانب تطوير أنظمة الإنارة وتركيب عدد 1457 عموداً للإنارة وتوفير 2600 موقفاً مخصصاً للسيارات وتنفيذ أعمال تشجير وتجميل.

كما ويشمل المشروع أعمال تطوير لخدمات البنية التحتية في المنطقة، حيث سيتم بانتهاء جميع الأعمال إنشاء شبكة صرف صحي بطول 20.2 كم وشبكة صرف لمياه الأمطار والمياه السطحية والجوفية بطول 20 كم إلى جانب شبكة للمياه المعالجة بطول 12.8 كم وخدمات أخرى للبنية التحتية.

وعن تقدم سير الأعمال، أوضح المهندس/ راشد الزيارة، أنه قد تم الانتهاء من تنفيذ 5.6 كم من شبكة تصريف مياه الأمطار والمياه الجوفية و5.2 كم من شبكة الصرف الصحي إلى جانب حوالي 1.4 كم من إجمالي أعمال شبكة المياه المعالجة بالمشروع. وأضاف أن الأعمال التي سيتم إنجازها خلال الفترة القادمة ستركز على استكمال أعمال الطرق وتطوير الشوارع إلى جانب استكمال المرحلة الأولى من المشروع والتي تتمثل بالأساس في أعمال الرصف والتشجير وتجميل الشوارع الرئيسية.

وقد تم تقسيم أعمال المشروع إلى خمسة مراحل بهدف تسهيل التنفيذ، لتغطي كل مرحلة منهم منطقة جغرافية ضمن نطاق المشروع حيث يتم تنفيذ الأعمال بها على التوالي للحدّ قدر الإمكان من الآثار الناجمة عن أعمال الإنشاء بالمنطقة وتخفيف الإزعاج على السكان. ومن المخطط أن يتم الانتهاء من تنفيذ كافة أعمال المشروع في الربع الاول من عام 2024.

وجدير بالذكر أنه من المخطط الاعتماد على مواد ومصنعين محليين في أغلب أعمال المشروع لتصل نسبة المكون المحلي 70% من إجمالي المواد المستخدمة. حيث سيتم الاعتماد على المصادر المحلية القطرية لتوريد عناصر مثل الجابرو وأعمدة ومصابيح الإنارة واللوحات الإرشادية وأنابيب الصرف الصحي وتصريف مياه الامطار والاسفلت والمناهل مسبقة الصنع بالإضافة إلى الخرسانة وحديد التسليح، وذلك في سياق دعم هيئة الأشغال العامة للمصنعين المحليين ومبادرة تأهيل التي أطلقتها الهيئة عام 2017.

يقوم بتنفيذ المشروع ائتلاف شركة بيتروسيرف المحدودة وشركة رودبريدج تحت إشراف شركة الخليج للاستشارات الهندسية والصناعية بتكلفة تقدر بحوالي 422 مليون ريال قطري.
