Doha: Qatar Calendar House announced that the inhabitants of the earth are on a date with the first lunar eclipse this year, which is consistent with the timing of the full moon of Shawwal this year, knowing that this eclipse will take place on Wednesday, The 14th of The Month of Shawwal 1442 H, may 26, 2021.
Dr. Bashir Marzouk (astronomer at The Qatar Calendar House) said that the first lunar eclipses of the year will be the type of total eclipse of the moon, as the shadow of the Earth will obscure 101 % of the entire moon disk when the total eclipse of the moon reaches its peak, that is when the center of both the moon, earth and the sun is located on a single straight line, and the Earth will be in the middle between the sun and the moon, blocking the sunlight falling on the moon.
Some residents of East Asia, western USA, parts of the South American continent and the continent of Australia will be able to monitor and follow the total eclipse of the moon, knowing that the population of the Arab region, including Qatar, will not be able to see this lunar eclipse happen during the day, but they can watch NASA’s live broadcast.
Dr. Bashir Marzouk added that this lunar eclipse is one of the rare eclipses, because a similar eclipse occurred last time on Monday January 21, 2019, in addition to the fact that it will occur when the moon is at the nearest point in its orbit around earth (perigee point), which makes us see the full moon larger and brighter than the usual in what is known as the phenomenon of the giant moon, knowing that the moon will be at a distance of approximately 357.6 thousand kilometers from the center of the Earth.
He pointed out that the phases of the partial and total eclipse will take three hours and seven minutes, knowing that the moon will begin to enter the area of the shadow of the Earth to begin the phase of partial eclipse at 12:45 p.m. local Doha time, while the total eclipse will start at 2:11 p.m., then the eclipse will peak at 2:19 p.m., with the Earth’s shadow covering 101 % of the entire moon disk at the time, while the total eclipse will end at 2:26 p.m., while the partial eclipse phase will end at 3:52 p.m. Local Doha time.
Lunar eclipses are characteristic of the fact that they can be seen and monitored with the naked eye without any damage to the eye when looking at the moon at the time of the eclipse, and modern digital cameras can be used to obtain images of the lunar eclipse, unlike solar eclipses that need special eye-protecting glasses at the time they are observed.
It is worth noting that lunar eclipses can be seen in all areas where the moon appears at the time of the eclipse, unlike solar eclipses that can only be seen by residents of areas on the solar eclipse path, in addition to the use of lunar eclipses and solar eclipses to ensure the accuracy of astronomical calculations of the Hijri calendar.

الدوحة: أعلنت دار التقويم القطري أن سكان الكرة الأرضية على موعد مع الخسوف القمري الأول خلال العام الحالي، والذي يتفق توقيت وسطه مع توقيت بدر شهر شوال لهذا العام، علمًا بأن هذا الخسوف سيحدث يوم الأربعاء الرابع عشر من شهر شوال 1442هـ، الموافق السادس والعشرين من مايو 2021م.
وذكر الدكتور بشير مرزوق (الخبير الفلكي بدار التقويم القطري) أن أول الخسوفات القمرية لهذا العام سيكون من نوع الخسوف الكلي للقمر، حيث أن ظل الأرض سوف يحجب 101 بالمئة من كامل قرص القمر عندما يصل الخسوف الكلي للقمر ذروته، وذلك حينما يقع مركز كل من القمر والأرض والشمس على خط استقامة واحد، وستكون الأرض في المنتصف بين الشمس والقمر، فتقوم بحجب أشعة الشمس الساقطة على سطح القمر.
وسوف يتمكن بعض من سكان دول شرق آسيا، وغرب الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، وأجزاء من قارة أمريكا الجنوبية، وقارة أستراليا من رصد ومتابعة الخسوف الكلي للقمر، مع العلم أن سكان دول المنطقة العربية ومنهم دولة قطر لن يتمكنوا من رؤية هذا الخسوف القمري لحدوثه نهارًا، ولكن يمكنهم متابعة البث الحي من وكالة الفضاء الأمريكية (ناسا).
وأضاف د. بشير مرزوق أن هذا الخسوف القمري من الخسوفات النادرة، وذلك لأنه حدث خسوف مماثل له آخر مرة يوم الإثنين 21 من يناير 2019م، إضافة إلى أنه سيحدث عندما يكون القمر عند أقرب نقطة من الأرض في مداره حول الأرض (نقطة الحضيض)، وهو ما يجعلنا نرى القمر البدر أكبر حجمًا وأكثر سطوعًا من البدر المعتاد فيما يُعرف بظاهرة القمر العملاق، علمًا بأن القمر سيكون على مسافة قدرها 357.6 ألف كيلومتر تقريبًا من مركز الأرض.
وأشار إلى أن مرحلتي الخسوف الجزئي والكلي سوف تستغرق مدة قدرها ثلاث ساعات وسبع دقائق، علمًا بأن القمر سيبدأ بالدخول في منطقة ظل الأرض لتبدأ مرحلة الخسوف الجزئي عند الساعة 12:45 مساءً بتوقيت الدوحة المحلي، بينما سيبدأ الخسوف الكلي عند الساعة 2:11 مساءً، وسوف يبلغ الخسوف ذروته عند الساعة 2:19 مساءً، حيث سيغطي ظل الأرض 101 بالمئة من كامل قرص القمر حينها، بينما سينتهي الخسوف الكلي عند الساعة 2:26 مساءً، فيما ستنتهي مرحلة الخسوف الجزئي عند الساعة 3:52 مساءً بتوقيت الدوحة المحلي.
ومما يميز الخسوفات القمرية أنه يمكن رؤية ورصد الخسوف القمري بالعين المجردة دون وقوع أي أضرار على العين عند النظر إلى القمر وقت الخسوف، بالإضافة إلى أنه يمكن استخدام الكاميرات الرقمية الحديثة للحصول على صور للخسوف القمري، بعكس الكسوفات الشمسية التي تحتاج إلى نظارات خاصة لتحمي العين وقت رصدها.
ومن الجدير بالذكر أن الخسوفات القمرية يُمكن رؤيتها في جميع المناطق التي يظهر فيها القمر وقت حدوث الخسوف، بعكس الكسوفات الشمسية التي لا يتمكن من رؤيتها إلا سكان المناطق الواقعة على مسار الكسوف الشمسي، بالإضافة إلى أنه يمكن الاستفادة من الخسوفات القمرية والكسوفات الشمسية في التأكد من دقة الحسابات الفلكية للتقويم الهجري.
