QRCS receives messages of support and solidarity after bombing of HQ in Gaza

Doha: Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al-Thani expressed his strong condemnation of the continued Israeli attacks on civilians, medical facilities and humanitarian institutions operating in the Gaza Strip, which recently targeted the headquarters of the QRCS in Gaza, stressing that these attacks represent a flagrant violation of the international humanitarian law.
His Excellency praised the wide international solidarity campaign that stood by the QRCS after it was targeted, whether at the level of governments, national societies, international organizations, media institutions and local bodies or at the public level, which emphasized the importance of providing protection for the humanitarian teams working to help the people of the Gaza Strip.
His Excellency extended his thanks and appreciation to all parties that showed solidarity with the QRCS after this attack, especially the Turkish government, the Palestinian Red Crescent, the President of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the Arab Organization of the Red Crescent and Red Cross, the Turkish Red Crescent, and the Jordanian Red Crescent, the Iranian Red Crescent, the Dutch Red Cross, UNRWA, IHH, and the Network of the Red Crescent and Red Cross National Societies in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
The QRCS chairman affirmed that the QRCS and its field teams will continue implementing humanitarian relief projects for the benefit of the affected people in the Gaza Strip in cooperation and coordination with the Palestinian Red Crescent, calling for protection for humanitarian and medical teams and respect for international humanitarian law.
HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Thamer Al-Thani had received a phone call from Director-General of the ICRC Robert Mardini during which he expressed his solidarity with the QRCS and the committee’s condemnation of the bombing that targeted the headquarters of the QRCS in the Gaza Strip.
During the call, the ICRC Director-General said that the ICRC stresses the importance of respecting the international conventions, customs and international legal texts in the four Geneva conventions, which affirm the protection of civilians, medical and paramedical personnel and relief workers, who are protected under international humanitarian law.

الدوحة: أعرب سعادة الشيخ عبدالله بن ثامر آل ثاني رئيس مجلس إدارة الهلال الأحمر القطري، عن استنكاره الشديد لاستمرار الهجمات الإسرائيلية على المدنيين والمنشآت الطبية والمؤسسات الإنسانية العاملة في قطاع غزة، والتي استهدفت مؤخرا مقر الهلال الأحمر القطري في غزة، مؤكدا أن هذه الاعتداءات تمثل انتهاكا صارخا للقانون الدولي الإنساني.
وأشاد سعادته بالحملة التضامنية الدولية الواسعة التي وقفت إلى جانب الهلال الأحمر القطري بعد هذا الاستهداف، سواء على صعيد الحكومات والجمعيات الوطنية والمنظمات الدولية والمؤسسات الإعلامية والهيئات المحلية وكذلك على الصعيد الشعبي، والتي أكدت على أهمية توفير الحماية للفرق الإنسانية العاملة لمساعدة أهالي قطاع غزة.
ووجه سعادته الشكر والتقدير لكافة الجهات التي تضامنت مع الهلال الأحمر القطري جراء هذا الاعتداء، وخاصة الحكومة التركية، والهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني، ورئيس الاتحاد الدولي للصليب الأحمر والهلال الأحمر، واللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر، والمنظمة العربية للهلال الأحمر والصليب الأحمر، والهلال الأحمر التركي، والهلال الأحمر الأردني، والهلال الأحمر الإيراني، والصليب الأحمر الهولندي، والأونروا، وهيئة الإغاثة الإنسانية IHH، والشبكة الحمراء لجمعيات الهلال الأحمر والصليب الأحمر في منظمة التعاون الإسلامي.
وأكد رئيس مجلس إدارة الهلال الأحمر القطري، أن طواقم الهلال الأحمر القطري وفرقه الميدانية ستواصل تنفيذ المشاريع الإنسانية الإغاثية لصالح المتضررين في قطاع غزة بالتعاون والتنسيق مع الهلال الأحمر الفلسطيني، وطالب بضرورة توفير الحماية للفرق الإنسانية والطواقم الطبية واحترام القانون الدولي الإنساني.
وكان سعادة الشيخ عبدالله بن ثامر آل ثاني قد تلقى اتصالا هاتفيا من السيد روبرت مارديني المدير العام للجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر، الذي أعرب عن تضامنه مع الهلال الأحمر القطري موضحا استنكار اللجنة للقصف الذي استهدف مقر الهلال في قطاع غزة.
وأوضح المدير العام للجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر، خلال الاتصال، أن اللجنة الدولية تؤكد على أهمية احترام المواثيق والأعراف والنصوص القانونية الدولية الواردة في الاتفاقيات الأربع لجنيف والتي تؤكد على حماية المدنيين والطواقم والكوادر الطبية والإسعافية وعمال الإغاثية المحميون بموجب القانون الدولي الإنساني.
