In an unprecedented incident, Paris Saint-Germain’s Ander Herrera said his teammate Leandro Paredes was verbally abused by Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers during the defeat to Manchester City in the second leg of tuesday’s Champions League semi-finals.
Midfielder Herrera told French station RMC “we’re talking about respect for referees” before revealing that the referee insulted Paredes, and continued, “If we say what he said we’ll be suspended for three or four games,” according to Al Jazeera Net.
Herrera’s teammate Marco Verratti confirmed in an interview after the match that he had also been abused by the referee, while Paris Saint-Germain coach Mauricio Pochettino told reporters that he believed his players and that UEFA might investigate the incident.
“I didn’t hear anything from outside the lines… UEFA may be investigating the situation. But that’s no excuse to say before you… The most important thing is that we didn’t make it to the final and that’s why we’re sad.”
City qualified for the final of the Champions League for the first time in their history, where Riyad Mahrez’s early goal at Etihad stadium put the home side in a good position ahead, before the Algerian star himself added another goal in the second half to seal his team’s 4-1 victory in the total semi-final matches and qualify for the final.

لاعب الوسط هيريرا أبلغ محطة “آر إم سبور (RMC) الفرنسية “نتحدث عن احترام الحكام” قبل أن يكشف أن الحكم وجه سبابا إلى باريديس، وتابع “إذا قلنا ما قاله سنتعرض للإيقاف 3 أو 4 مباريات” وفقا للجزيرة نت.
من جهته أكد ماركو فيراتي زميل هيريرا في مقابلة بعد المباراة بأنه تعرض أيضا لإساءة من الحكم، فيما أبلغ ماوريسيو بوكيتينو مدرب باريس سان جيرمان الصحفيين بأنه يصدق لاعبيه وأن الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم (اليويفا) قد يحقق في الواقعة.
وقال بوكيتينو “لم أسمع شيئا من خارج الخطوط… ربما يحقق اليويفا في الموقف. لكن هذا ليس عذرا أقوله أمامكم… أهم شيء هو أننا لم نصل إلى النهائي ولهذا السبب نشعر بالحزن”.
وتأهل سيتي إلى المباراة النهائية في دوري الأبطال لأول مرة ي تاريخه، حيث وضع هدف رياض محرز المبكر -بملعب “الاتحاد”- أصحابَ الأرض في موقف جيد بالمواجهة، قبل أن يضيف النجم الجزائري نفسه هدفا آخر في الشوط الثاني ليحسم انتصار فريقه 4-1 في النتيجة الإجمالية بنصف النهائي وتأهله إلى المباراة النهائية.
