Qatar Participates in Second OIC Summit on Science and Technology

Doha: The State of Qatar participated in the work of the second Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit on Science and Technology, which was held yesterday, via video conference technology, under the title (Science, Technology and Innovation: Opening New Horizons).

The delegation of the State of Qatar to the summit was headed by HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti.

During the summit chaired by the United Arab Emirates, the implementation of the OIC Science, Technology and Innovation Program 2026 was reviewed and the organizations commitment to take all necessary measures to create and activate an environment conducive to achieving progress in the field of science, technology and innovation in the OIC member states, in addition to emphasizing the practice of the best ideas, solutions, plans, policies and innovations that motivate the OIC countries to overcome the challenges posed by the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic, and to pursue a development path that brings benefit to all.

During the speeches of the heads of delegations to the summit, HE Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti extended his thanks and appreciation to the Republic of Kazakhstan for hosting the first science and technology summit and its efforts over the past years. His Excellency also thanked the United Arab Emirates for taking over the presidency of the second session of the summit.

His Excellency indicated that the exceptional circumstances imposed by the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic require more cooperation to come up with the best ideas, solutions, plans, policies and innovations that motivate the OIC countries to overcome challenges and adopt a development process that benefits everyone, in addition to taking all appropriate measures to create and activate an environment conducive to achieving progress in the field of science, technology and innovation in the member states of the organization.

His Excellency stressed that the State of Qatar has spared no effort to enhance the rapid response to face the repercussions of the pandemic and has provided medical assistance to many countries of the world, in addition to financial contributions to multilateral health care institutions working in the development of vaccines to ensure the efficiency of health care, especially in the least developed countries, in addition to the many international contributions of the State of Qatar in supporting the issues of poverty eradication, the environment, the provision of education for all, and climate change.

His Excellency added that based on this principle, the State of Qatar supports all initiatives that enhance the joint work of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in addressing the pandemic, as well as its support for all aspects that enhance the fields of science, technology and innovation in a manner that ensures the advancement of social and economic development of member states and enhances Islamic solidarity and cooperation in various fields.

الدوحة: شاركت دولة قطر في أعمال القمة الإسلامية الثانية للعلوم والتكنولوجيا لدول منظمة التعاون الإسلامي والتي عقدت، يوم الأمس، عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي (عن بعد)، تحت عنوان (العلم والتكنولوجيا والابتكار: فتح آفاق جديدة) .

وترأس وفد دولة قطر في أعمال القمة سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي وزير المواصلات والاتصالات.

تم خلال القمة التي تترأسها دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة استعراض تنفيذ برنامج منظمة التعاون الإسلامي للعلوم والتكنولوجيا والابتكار 2026 وتجديد التأكيد على التزام المنظمة باتخاذ جميع الإجراءات الضرورية من أجل إنشاء وتفعيل بيئة تساعد على تحقيق التقدم في مجال العلوم والتكنولوجيا والابتكار لدى الدول الأعضاء في المنظمة، بالإضافة إلى التأكيد على ممارسة أفضل الأفكار والحلول والخطط والسياسات والابتكارات التي تحفز بلدان المنظمة على تجاوز التحديات التي فرضتها تداعيات جائحة فيروس كورونا، وانتهاج مسيرة تنموية تعود بالخير على الجميع.

وخلال كلمات رؤساء الوفود ضمن أعمال القمة، تقدم سعادة السيد جاسم بن سيف السليطي وزير المواصلات والاتصالات، بجزيل الشكر والتقدير لجمهورية كازاخستان على استضافتها للقمة الأولى للعلوم والتكنولوجيا وما بذلته من جهود خلال السنوات الماضية، كما توجه بالشكر إلى دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة على توليها رئاسة الدورة الثانية للقمة.

وبين سعادته: إن الظروف الاستثنائية التي فرضتها تداعيات جائحة فيروس كورونا تتطلب المزيد من التعاون للخروج بأفضل الأفكار والحلول والخطط والسياسات والابتكارات التي تحفز دول المنظمة على تجاوز التحديات وانتهاج مسيرة تنموية تعود بالخير على الجميع، بالإضافة إلى اتخاذ كافة الإجراءات المناسبة لإنشاء وتفعيل بيئة تساعد على تحقيق التقدم في مجال العلوم والتكنولوجيا والابتكار لدى الدول الأعضاء في المنظمة.

وأكد سعادته أن دولة قطر لم تأل جهدا في تعزيز الاستجابة السريعة لمواجهة تداعيات الجائحة وقامت بتقديم المساعدات الطبية للعديد من دول العالم، إلى جانب مساهمات مالية لمؤسسات الرعاية الصحية متعددة الأطراف التي تعمل في تطوير اللقاحات لضمان كفاءة الرعاية الصحية، خصوصا في الدول الأقل نموا، بالإضافة إلى مساهمات دولة قطر الدولية العديدة في دعم قضايا القضاء على الفقر، والبيئة، وتوفير التعليم للجميع، والتغيير المناخي.

وأضاف سعادته قائلا، إنه انطلاقا من هذا المبدأ فإن دولة قطر تدعم كافة المبادرات التي تعزز العمل المشترك لمنظمة التعاون الإسلامي في التصدي للجائحة، فضلا عن دعمها لكافة الجوانب التي تعزز مجالات العلوم والتكنولوجيا والابتكار بما يضمن دفع التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية للدول الأعضاء ويعزز التضامن والتعاون الإسلامي في مختلف المجالات.
