UCL Qatar and QF invite applications for Academic Fellowship Programme

UCL Qatar has announced it is inviting applicants from around the world to apply for its third Academic Fellowship Programme.

This comes as part of the university’s “continuing effort to attract and develop international research in Qatar”, it has said in a statement.

As part of the initiative, UCL Qatar will host several outstanding visiting fellows who will contribute to enhancing the teaching and research profile of the institution, following the university’s “commitment to offering research-led teaching excellence”.

The fellows will also help further expand the intellectual community of UCL, their partners in Education City and Qatar at large, the statement notes.

Visiting fellows will conduct their own research in Qatar and will collaborate with UCL Qatar’s staff and students on various teaching and research projects. While interacting with the international and diverse academic community that makes Education City the knowledge hub of Qatar, they will be able to bring their research to the national and international audience.

Dr Sam Evans, director of UCL Qatar, said: “We are delighted to host visiting fellows coming to Qatar as part of our third cycle of UCL Qatar’s Visiting Fellowship Scheme. To date, we have worked with 14 incredibly knowledgeable and creative individuals who have helped UCL Qatar continue to cement its role in promoting research excellence.”

Applicants for visiting fellowships should have an affiliation to a university or equivalent research body, cultural institution or a private company, be active in the fields of cultural heritage or information studies or be an independent or emeritus researcher. They must hold higher research degrees or relevant equivalent professional or research experience and publications. أعلنت كلية لندن الجامعية – قطر عن فتح باب التقديم أمام الأكاديميين من مختلف أنحاء العالم للمشاركة في دورتها الثالثة من برنامج الزمالة الأكاديمية، الذي تنظمه في إطار جهودها الرامية إلى تعزيز البحوث الدولية في قطر.

ويستقبل البرنامج أكاديميين مرموقين للمساهمة في تعزيز مجالي التدريس والبحوث، وإثراء المشهد الفكري في كلية لندن الجامعية في قطر والجامعات الشريكة في المدينة التعليمية وفي دولة قطر بوجه عام.

ويجري المشاركون خلال البرنامج بحوثاً، ويتعاونون مع موظفي كلية لندن الجامعية – قطر وطلابها في مشروعات مختلفة متعلقة بالتدريس والبحوث، ويتواصلون مع المجتمع الأكاديمي في المدينة التعليمية، ويعرضون بحوثهم على الجمهور المحلي والدولي.

وتعليقاً على برنامج الزمالة، قال الدكتور سام إيفانز مدير كلية لندن الجامعية قطر: «لقد تعاونا في النسخ السابقة من البرنامج مع 14 زميلاً متميزاً في مجال الإبداع والمعرفة كان لهم الفضل في مساعدة كلية لندن الجامعية على مواصلة تعزيز دورها في دعم التميز البحثي. في الوقت الذي تخطو فيه قطر للأمام نحو تحقيق اقتصاد قائم على المعرفة، تسعى جاهدة للحفاظ على تقاليدها وثقافتها وتعزيزها. نفخر بالمساهمة في مجال البحث والتطوير الأكاديمي في قطر بالتعاون مع عدد من ألمع العقول في مجالات الثقافة والتراث وإدارة المعرفة».

ومن بين الزملاء الزائرين الذين شاركوا في النسخ السابقة، السيد بول كريستيانز، وهو زميل زائر مشارك، أتيحت له الفرصة للحديث مع متخصصين في الآثار وأمناء متاحف وغيرهم من المتخصصين حول عملهم الذي يتفق مع موضوعه البحثي، «ما الذي يصنع الخبير؟». وبصفته خبيراً في التراث الثقافي أتيحت له الفرصة لتدريس برنامج بعنوان «التراث الثقافي والأخلاقيات والقانون» ضمن برنامج ماجستير المعارض والمتاحف في كلية لندن الجامعية – قطر.
