Goal-machine Bounedjah extends Al Sadd contract

Doha: Al Sadd’s record-breaking goal scorer Baghdad Bounedjah has signed a long-term agreement with the Qatari side, the club announced yesterday.

The Algerian striker, who has scored a record 29 goals in 15 appearances so far this season against his name in the QNB Stars League (QSL), yesterday renewed his contact with the Wolves and will play for the 13-time champions until 2024.

“This new contract makes me proud and happy. I’m really excited to offer more for the team,” Bounedjah said after the contract signing yesterday.

“I want to express my gratitude to everyone at the club – the management, the players, the coaches – and also the fans, with whom I share a lot of love.

“I want to promise everyone that I will perform even better in the upcoming matches. Our goal is to win more titles for Al Sadd,” Bounedjah said.

Earlier this month, the 25-year-old surpassed Brazilian striker Clemerson Soares’ record of 27 goals set in the 2007-08 season for Al Gharafa to become the all-time top scorer in a single season. His tally of 29 strikes also includes a 7-goal feat, a new QSL record for the most number of scalps in a single match, which erased the previous mark held by former Iraqi international Yunus Mahmud (six goals for Al Khor in the 2004/2005 season).

Bounedjah was also the winner of the 2018 AFC Champions League Top Scorer Award after his heroics at the continental tournament where Al Sadd reached the semi-finals. His 13 goals saw him finish ahead of Suwon Samsung Bluewings’ Dejan Damjanovic and Al Duhail’s Yousef El Arabi.

أعلن نادي السد القطري، أمس الجمعة، عن تمديد تعاقده مع المهاجم الدولي الجزائري بغداد بونجاح حتى عام 2024، ليحسم بذلك الجدل الدائر منذ فترة ليست بالقصيرة حول مستقبل اللاعب، في ظل ما تردد عن رحيله وانتقاله للعب بأحد الدوريات الأوربية، وتحديداً نادي ليل الفرنسي.

ووقع اللاعب على العقد الجديد بمقر النادي، في حضور تركي العلي المدير العام للنادي، وتعد هذه هي المرة الثانية التي تقدم فيها إدارة النادي على هذه الخطوة، بعد أن قامت في العام الماضي بتمديد عقده الذي كان سينتهي بنهاية الموسم الحالي حتى موسم 2021، ثم عادت أمس لتضيف 3 مواسم أخرى لمدة العقد.

وكان المهاجم الدولي الجزائري – 27 عاماً – الذي انضم لقلعة الذيابة في موسم 2015 قادماً من نادي النجم الساحلي التونسي قد تألق بشكل لافت للنظر مع الفريق، لا سيما في الموسم الحالي في ظل تصدره لائحة هدافي دوري نجوم QNB برصيد 29 هدفاً من 15 مباراة، محققاً رقماً قياسياً جديداً كأكبر عدد أهداف في موسم واحد، كما نال لقب هداف دوري أبطال آسيا برصيد 13 هدفاً.

وأكد اللاعب عقب مراسم توقيع عقد التمديد على سعادته الغامرة بهذه الخطوة، حيث قال: «أشعر بالفخر والسعادة بعد توقيع العقد الجديد، وأنا متحمس جداً وبشكل كبير لمزيد من العطاء مع الزعيم».
