London: Solar storms can release huge amounts of radiation that can affect not only Earth’s technology but also the DNA of living organisms, including humans, a researcher has warned.

Passengers and crew flying over the Arctic will be exposed to increased radiation, these radiation storms can create errors that make navigation processes very difficult, and active protons can also ionize atoms and molecules in the atmosphere, creating a layer of free electrons.
He added: “This layer can absorb high frequency radio waves, causing disruption to high frequency communications, also known as short wave radio. With our increased reliance on technology, weather forecasting in space is critical.
According to a statement issued by the University of Bradford, Professor Qahwaji has invented “a system used by NASA since 2011 to analyze the latest satellite images and solar spot data to predict solar explosions.
Known as the Automated Solar Activity Prediction (ASAP), the system can make quick judgments about whether a solar storm is coming.
“Understanding the complexity of sunspots will help us predict whether large solar flares can occur, and my colleagues and I have developed a real-time computer system that uses image processing and AI techniques to monitor and analyze solar satellite data, and this helps predict the possibility of solar flares over the next 24 hours.
