Many around the world face the problem of a smartphone falling into the water or being exposed to any liquid, which requires fast intervention so that there is no significant damage to the device that may reach complete damage
One study revealed that 27% of users damaged their phones with either water or any other type of fluid, and many of them flood the phone with rice grains to help fix the problem, but unfortunately to no avail, al-JazeeraNet reported.
In a report published by sciencealert, Ritesh Chug, senior lecturer in the Department of Information Systems and Analysis at CQUniversity in Australia, said fluid penetration of a smartphone can affect it in several ways and can lead to many problems, the most important of which is complete device damage.
Another problem that can occur is the appearance of blurry images in the case of moisture retention in the camera lens, lack of sound, possibly inability to charge, and can cause rust of the inner parts.
Waterproof phones!
While the new phones are advertised as “water resistant,” this does not mean that they are actually or completely water-resistant, and water resistance means that the device can handle some water exposures before significant damage occurs.
Samsung has long been criticized for claiming its phones are water resistant. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) in 2019 referred Samsung to the Federal Court, claiming that false and misleading advertising led customers to believe that their Galaxy phones would be suitable for use in all types of water or exposure, including, for example, oceans and swimming pools.
Samsung Australia subsequently rejected customer warranty claims for damage to phones due to liquid or exposure. Similarly, Apple was fined 10 million euros last year by Italy’s antitrust authority for “misleading allegations” about its phones’ water resistance and failure to cover fluid damage under warranty.
Here’s the right way to fix your phone if it falls into water:
Don’t put your phone in a bowl of rice, it’s just a myth, and instead follow the following steps:
1. Turn off the device immediately and don’t press any button.
2. If your phone is waterproof and you immerse it in non-water liquid, Apple and Samsung recommend rinsing it with clean, stagnant water, but not under running tap water, which may cause damage.
3. Wipe the phone to dry using paper towels or a soft cloth.
4. Gently shake the device to remove water from charging outlets, but avoid severe shaking because this may lead to increased spread of liquid inside it.
5. Remove the sim card
6. Use a compressed air vent to flush out water if you have one, avoid using a hot hair dryer because heat can destroy rubber seals and damage the screen.
7. Dry the phone (especially ports) in front of a fan.
8. Leave the phone in a sealed tray filled with silica gel (those small packages you find inside new shoes and bags), or another drying factor, which helps absorb moisture.
9. Don’t charge the phone until you’re sure it’s dry. Charging a device with liquid inside or at ports can cause further damage. Apple suggests waiting at least 5 hours, once the phone appears java before charging it or until the alarm disappears.
How about cleaning the phone in general to remove microbes and germs?
According to an earlier report on Al JazeeraNet, the best way to clean a smartphone is to use a soft, lint-free, slightly wet cloth, and in the case of extreme dirt, the user can use a little water and soap when cleaning a smartphone.
An important thing to consider when cleaning a smartphone is that moisture does not reach smartphone slots, and although many smartphones are water-resistant, Kloss advises that they should be wiped immediately with a dry cloth after cleaning.
There are warnings that other detergents may cause smartphone damage, such as glass cleaners, where touch screens include an oil repellent layer, to prevent fingerprints from appearing, and German expert Kloss warned that cleaning the screen with alcohol-based detergents gradually removes the grease-repellent layer.
Smartphone ports are very sensitive parts, so the user should be careful when cleaning them without using any damp means, and cotton sticks or a soft toothbrush can be used here.

وفي تقرير نشره موقع “ساينس ألرت” (sciencealert)، قال ريتيش تشوغ المحاضر الأول في قسم نظم المعلومات والتحليل بجامعة سي كيو (CQUniversity) في أستراليا، إن اختراق السائل للهاتف الذكي يمكن أن يؤثرعليه بعدة طرق، وقد يؤدي إلى العديد من المشاكل، أهمها تلف الجهاز بشكل كامل.
من المشاكل الأخرى التي يمكن حصولها هو ظهور صور ضبابية في حالة احتجاز الرطوبة في عدسة الكاميرا، أو عدم وجود صوت، وربما عدم القدرة على الشحن، ويمكن أن يسبب صدأ الأجزاء الداخلية.
هواتف مقاومة للماء!
وبينما يتم الإعلان عن الهواتف الجديدة على أنها “مقاومة للماء”، فإن هذا لا يعني أنها كذلك فعلاً أو محصنة تماماً من الماء، وتعني مقاومة الماء أن الجهاز يمكنه التعامل مع بعض حالات التعرض للماء قبل حدوث ضرر كبير.

إليك الطريقة الصحيحة لإصلاح هاتفك إذا وقع في الماء:
لا تضع هاتفك في وعاء من الأرز، إنها مجرد خرافة، وبدلاً من ذلك اتبع الخطوات التالية:
1. أطفئ الجهاز على الفور ولا تضغط على أي زر.
2. إذا كان هاتفك مقاوماً للماء وقمت بغمره في سائل غير الماء، توصي كل من آبل وسامسونغ بشطفه بماء نظيف راكد، ولكن ليس تحت ماء الصنبور الجاري، إذ قد يتسبب في تلفه.
3. امسح الهاتف حتى يجف باستخدام مناشف ورقية أو قطعة قماش ناعمة.
4. هزّ الجهاز برفق لإزالة المياه من منافذ الشحن، ولكن تجنب الرجّ الشديد لأن هذا قد يؤدي إلى زيادة انتشار السائل داخله.

6. استخدم منفضة هواء مضغوطة لطرد المياه إذا كان لديك واحدة، وتجنب استخدام مجفف الشعر الساخن لأن الحرارة يمكن أن تدمر الأختام المطاطية وتتلف الشاشة.
7. جفف الهاتف (وخاصة المنافذ) أمام المروحة.
8. اترك الهاتف في علبة محكمة الإغلاق مليئة بعبوات هلام السيليكا (تلك الحزم الصغيرة التي تجدها داخل الأحذية والحقائب الجديدة)، أو عامل تجفيف آخر، فهي تساعد على امتصاص الرطوبة.
9. لا تشحن الهاتف حتى تتأكد من أنه جاف. قد يؤدي شحن جهاز مع وجود سائل داخله أو في المنافذ إلى مزيد من الضرر. وتقترح آبل الانتظار 5 ساعات على الأقل، بمجرد ظهور الهاتف جافا قبل شحنه أو حتى يختفي التنبيه.
ماذا عن تنظيف الهاتف بشكل عام لإزالة الميكروبات والجراثيم؟
يرى خبراء ومتخصصون في التكنولوجيا، بحسب تقرير سابق بموقع الجزيرة نت، أن أفضل طريقة لتنظيف الهاتف الذكي هي استعمال قطعة قماش ناعمة وخالية من الوبر ومبللة قليلاً، وفي حالة الاتساخ الشديد يمكن للمستخدم استعمال قليل من الماء والصابون عند تنظيف الهاتف الذكي.
ومن الأمور المهمة الواجب مراعاتها عند تنظيف الهاتف الذكي، عدم وصول الرطوبة إلى فتحات الهاتف الذكي، وعلى الرغم من أن الكثير من الهواتف الذكية تمتاز بمقاومة الماء، فإن كلوس ينصح بضرورة مسحها على الفور بقطعة قماش جافة بعد تنظيفها.
وهناك تحذيرات من أن المنظفات الأخرى قد تتسبب في تلف الهاتف الذكي، مثل منظفات الزجاج، حيث تشتمل الشاشات اللمسية على طبقة طاردة للزيوت، لمنع ظهور بصمات الأصابع، وحذر الخبير الألماني كلوس من أن تنظيف الشاشة بواسطة منظفات ذات قاعدة كحولية يؤدي إلى إزالة الطبقة الطاردة للشحوم تدريجيا.
وتعتبر منافذ التوصيل بالهواتف الذكية من الأجزاء الحساسة للغاية، ولذلك يتعين على المستخدم توخي الحرص والحذر عند تنظيفها دون استعمال أي وسائل رطبة، ويمكن هنا استخدام الأعواد القطنية أو فرشاة أسنان ناعمة.
