Qatari Horses Continue Victories with Two Wins in England

Doha: Qatari horses continued their foreign victories after Jassim bin Ali Al Attiyah’s GUBBASS, and Mohammed bin Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah’s KEHAILAAN won the first place in two races in England.

GUBBASS (IRE) (Mehmas x Vida Amorosa), owned by Jassim bin Ali Al Attiyah, made a promising debut at Leicester in England. The two-year-old colt, trained by Richard Hannon Jnr, won the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes in good style over 1,000m (5f). Travelling well in mid-division in a race run at a strong pace, the winner finished with a real flourish. Furthermore, the winning rider Sean Levey never had to get serious on his mount, as the winner put daylight between himself and his rivals, who were more experienced than him and even some of them finished placed in previous outings.

GUBBASS won by just under two lengths in front of the K R Burke-trained and Clifford Lee-ridden TOTHENINES (IRE) (Dandy Man x Ultimate Best) while the Ralph Beckett-trained and Rossa Ryan-ridden ANGEL BLEU (FR) (Dark Angel x Cercle De La Vie) was further 3-lengths in third.

GUBBASS is entered in the Weatherbys Super Sprint, a prestigious prize for juveniles on the British circuit, at Newbury on July 17.

On the other hand, the 3-year-old colt KEHAILAAN (IRE) (Gleneagles x Defrost My Heart), owned by Mohammed bin Hamad Khalifa Al Attiyah, opened his scorecard in the Maiden Stakes over 1,600m for 3-year-olds and older on the all-weather at Southwell in England.

Previously, KEHAILAAN debuted in February this year for a second place, before again finishing second next time out on the 2nd March, both times at Newcastle on the all-weather.

Trained by Mark Johnston and ridden by Ben Curtis, the colt was slowly into his stride from the starting stalls on Thursday. He had to make an effort in the first 100 metres to follow the leaders. Sitting on the outside behind the leader in 4th position, he settled well before moving up into third. They began racing with still 800 metres left to run and KEHAILAAN showed plenty of courage to see off the leaders ARTOC EMPEROR (GB) (Territories x Selkirk Sky) and HELM ROCK (GB) (Pivotal x Nibbling). In the final 100 metres, he surged clear with a late acceleration to win by 2 lengths in front of the Archie Watson-trained and Hollie Doyle-ridden ARTOC EMPEROR. HELM ROCK finished further 3 lengths behind in third for trainers Daniel & Claire Kubler with Kieran ONeill in the saddle.

KEHAILAAN was bought as a yearling by his trainer at the Goffs Orby Yearling Sale. His sire, Gleneagles was a dual Guineas winner for Coolmore. KEHAILAAN is out of the Fastnet Rock mare Deforst My Heart, who was placed at Stakes Level.

حقق المهر / قباس / بداية واعدة ونموذجية لمسيرته بفوزه بأولى مشاركاته على الإطلاق والذي جاء على مضمار /ليستر/ بإنجلترا، بإشراف المدرب رتشارد هانن وبقيادة الخيال شون ليفي ، حيث قدم هذا المهر أداءً جيداً وفاز بشوط ستيكس للخيل المهجنة الأصيلة المبتدئة والفائزة بسباق عمر /سنتين/ لمسافة 1000متر، و أظهر تفوقاً واضحاً على منافسيه وبفارق طولين إلا ربعا عن الوصيف المهر / تو ذا ناينز / بإشراف المدرب كارل بيرك وبقيادة الخيال كليفرد لي، بينما جاء ثالثاً وبفارق إضافي قدره 3 أطوال وربع المهر / إنجل بلو / بإشراف المدرب رالف بيكيت وبقيادة الخيال روسا راين.

ومن ناحيته حقق المهر / كحيلان / فوزه الأول في ثالث مشاركاته بتصدره قمة شوط ستيكس للخيل المهجنة الأصيلة المبتدئة عمر/ 3 /سنوات فما فوق لمسافة 1600متر ، الذي أقيم على أرضية رملية على مضمار/ سّذل/ بإنجلترا ، وذلك بعدما جاء وصيفاً في مشاركتيه السابقتين، وكانت الأولى في شهر فبراير والثانية في شهر مارس الماضيين ، وكانت كلتاهما على أرضية رملية أيضاً ولكن على مضمار /نيوكاسل/.

وجاء فوز / كحيلان / بإشراف المدرب مارك جونستن وبقيادة الخيال بِن كيرتس بفارق طولين وربع على / أرتوك إمبرور / الذي جاء وصيفاً بإشراف المدرب أرتشي واتسن وبقيادة الفارسة هولي دويل، بينما جاء / هيلم روك / ثالثاً وبفارق إضافي قدره 3 أطوال ونصف بإشراف المدربين دانييل وكلير كوبلر وبقيادة الخيال كيران أونيل.
