QC Chairman Commends Growth of Trade Exchange with Turkey

Doha: HE Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani met on Sunday with President of Turkey’s Independent Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association (MUSIAD) Abdurrahman Kaan.
The meeting touched on reviewing ways of boosting commercial and investment cooperation relations between both sides, investment opportunities available in both sides as well as the possibility of establishing joint investments between private sector inside and outside both countries.
Addressing the meeting, HE Sheikh Khalifa praised the distinct, close relation between Qatar and Turkey, noting that these relations are historic and based on understanding and mutual respect.
HE also said that both countries’ relations have significantly developed within the past five years, citing their trade exchange grew by 100 percent from $ 900mn in 2016 to $1.91 bn in 2020.
QC Chairman also noted that there are hundreds of Turkish companies operating in the Qatari market in joint ventures with Qatari partners in various sectors such as trading, contracting, services and hospitality, stressing that Turkey is an attractive destination for investment for Qatari businessmen.
He also confirmed the Qatari businessmen’s strong desire to invest in Turkey and forge economic alliances with their Turkish counterparts, as well as benefit from the Turkish experience in establishing joint investments, especially in Africa which is full of feasible investment opportunities.
On his part, MUSIAD General President Abdurrahman Kaan emphasized the interest of the association to establish close cooperation ties with Qatar Chamber to develop mutual investments between businessmen from both countries.
He also stressed the desire of Turkish businessmen to invest in Qatar in several sectors, pointing to a study to establish a factory for manufacturing food products in Qatar with a joint Qatari-Turkish capital to promote its products not only in the Qatari market, but rather the markets of the Middle East region.

الدوحة: نوه سعادة الشيخ خليفة بن جاسم آل ثاني رئيس غرفة قطر، بنمو التبادل التجاري مع تركيا خلال الأعوام الخمسة الأخيرة بنسبة تزيد عن 100%، حيث بلغت قيمة التبادل التجاري 1.91 مليار دولار أمريكي في العام 2020 مقابل نحو 900 مليون دولار في العام 2016 .
جاء ذلك خلال اجتماع سعادته يوم الأمس، مع السيد عبدالرحمن كان رئيس جمعية رجال الأعمال والصناعيين المستقلين التركية /موصياد/، حيث جرى استعراض سبل تعزيز التعاون التجاري والاستثماري بين الجانبين، والفرص الاستثمارية المتاحة في البلدين، فضلا عن إمكانية التعاون بين القطاع الخاص القطري ونظيره التركي في إقامة استثمارات مشتركة خارج البلدين.
وقال سعادة الشيخ خليفة بن جاسم آل ثاني إن العلاقات القطرية التركية شهدت تطورا كبيرا في السنوات الأخيرة، بما انعكس بشكل كبير على التعاون بين قطاعات الأعمال في البلدين.
وأشار إلى وجود مئات الشركات التركية التي تعمل في السوق القطري بشراكة مع شركات قطرية في مختلف القطاعات الاقتصادية، وخصوصا في التجارة والمقاولات والخدمات والضيافة، لافتا إلى أن القطاع الخاص القطري يرى أن تركيا وجهة استثمارية جاذبة.
وأكد على رغبة رجال الأعمال القطريين في الاستثمار في تركيا، فضلا عن رغبتهم في إقامة تحالفات مع نظرائهم الأتراك للاستفادة من الخبرات التركية في إقامة استثمارات مشتركة خارج البلدين، وخصوصا في القارة الإفريقية التي تزخر بالفرص الاستثمارية المجدية.
من جانبه، قال السيد عبد الرحمن كان رئيس جمعية /موصياد/، إن “الجمعية ترغب في إقامة علاقات تعاون وثيقة مع غرفة قطر لتعزيز الاستثمارات المتبادلة بين رجال الأعمال من البلدين، وإقامة شراكات تجارية في مختلف القطاعات”.
وأوضح أن هنالك رغبة لدى العديد من رجال الأعمال الاتراك في الاستثمار في قطاعات مختلفة في قطر، مشيرا إلى أن دراسة أجريت لإنشاء مصنع للصناعات الغذائية في قطر برأس مال قطري تركي مشترك بحيث لا يستهدف السوق القطري فحسب، بل أسواق منطقة الشرق الأوسط.
