2nd package of roads and infrastructure project in South of Semaisma begins

Doha: The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced the commencement of the Roads and Infrastructure Project in South of Semaisma, Package 2, which aims to develop internal streets in the area and enhance local traffic safety, in addition to upgrading the infrastructure utilities in order to meet the requirements of the population and urban growth in the future.

Works on the first package of the Roads and Infrastructure project in South of Semaisma began in May 2020 in order to cope with the urban expansion of Semaisma in the future.

The project is located East of Al Khor Coastal Road in Semaisma area and is bordered by Semaisma Corniche Street to the East and by Semaisma Road to the North. In order to reduce the construction work impacts as much as possible, the project works will be divided into three geographical zones which will be carried out successively and the duration of each phase will be one year. Project construction works are scheduled to be fully completed in the 3rd quarter of 2023.

About the project benefits, Eng. Hamad Al Badr, Project Engineer Roads Projects Department’s Project Engineer at ‘Ashghal’, stated that upon completion, the project will serve 531 residential plots in south of Semaisma, by providing upgraded infrastructure utilities, road network and local streets to enhance the traffic flow and provide connectivity to future public facilities which will be established in the area, such as schools, mosques, commercial complexes and youth centres.

Eng. Hamad Al Badr also added that the project’s scope of works involves developing and constructing a road network, at a total length of 21 km, providing traffic safety elements such as street lighting systems and poles, as well as installing directional signage and road markings. In addition, 4.3-km-long pedestrian and cycle paths will be provided to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Furthermore, the project scope includes the construction of a 26 km-long drainage network, a 28 km-long surface and groundwater drainage network, and a 3.5 km-long TSE network. In addition to the extension of new sewage pipelines which will be connected to the main sewage network, construction works will also include an emergency flood lagoon with a capacity of 41,000 m to protect the entire area from flooding during the rainy season.

This project is being implemented by Al Jaber and Partners, at a cost of about 319 million Qatari Riyals. It is one of the projects within the Residential Areas Infrastructure Program implemented by “Ashghal”, which includes a number of development projects spread all around Qatar.

الدوحة: بدأت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” تنفيذ أعمال مشروع تطوير الطرق والبنية التحتية جنوب /سميسمة/ – الحزمة الثانية، والذي يهدف إلى تطوير الشوارع الداخلية بالمنطقة ورفع مستوى السلامة فيها، بالإضافة إلى تطوير مرافق البنية التحتية لتستجيب لمتطلبات السكان والنمو العمراني في المستقبل.

ويقع المشروع شرق طريق الخور الساحلي في منطقة /سميسمة/، ويحده شرقا شارع كورنيش /سميسمة/ وشمالا طريق /سميسمة/.

وبهدف الحد قدر الإمكان من الآثار الناجمة عن أعمال الإنشاء، سيتم تقسيم أعمال المشروع إلى ثلاث مناطق جغرافية يتم العمل فيها على التوالي، حيث سيستغرق تنفيذ كل مرحلة عاما واحدا، ومن المقرر أن يكمل تنفيذ كافة أعمال المشروع في الربع الثالث من عام 2023.

وعن فوائد المشروع، أوضح المهندس حمد البدر، مهندس المشروع بإدارة مشروعات الطرق في “أشغال”، أن المشروع سيخدم عند اكتماله 531 قسيمة لأراضي المواطنين في منطقة جنوب /سميسمة/، وذلك من خلال توفير خدمات متطورة للبنية التحتية وشبكة طرق وشوارع داخلية من شأنها تعزيز انسيابية الحركة المرورية وتوفير الربط مع المرافق العامة التي سيتم إنشاؤها بالمنطقة مستقبلا، مثل المدارس والمساجد والمجمعات التجارية، والمراكز الشبابية.

وأضاف أنه سيتم تطوير وإنشاء شبكة طرق بطول 21 كيلومترا مع توفير عناصر السلامة المرورية من أنظمة وأعمدة إنارة للشوارع، ولوحات إرشادية وعلامات الطريق، كما سيتم توفير مسارات للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية بطول 4.3 كيلومتر، للتشجيع على اتباع نمط حياة صحي.

وأشار إلى أن المشروع يتضمن أيضا إنشاء شبكة صرف صحي بطول 26 كيلومترا وشبكة صرف للمياه السطحية والجوفية بطول 28 كيلومترا، وشبكة للمياه المعالجة بطول 3.5 كيلومتر، وتمديد أنابيب الصرف الجديدة وربطها بشبكة الصرف الصحي الرئيسية، فضلا عن إنشاء بحيرة لتخزين مياه الأمطار لأغراض الطوارئ بسعة 41 ألف متر مكعب بهدف وقاية كامل المنطقة من فيضان المياه خلال موسم الأمطار.

يذكر أن تكلفة المشروع تبلغ 319 مليونا و392 ألف ريال قطري، ويعد أحد مشاريع برنامج تطوير البنية التحتية للمناطق الذي تنفذه هيئة الأشغال العامة، ويضم عددا من المشاريع التطويرية الموزعة على كافة مناطق البلاد.
