PM pays inspection visit to new Hamad emergency building

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani on Saturday paid an inspection visit to Hamad General Hospital (HGH)’s new Emergency Services building.

At the beginning of the visit, HE the Prime Minister toured the building to check on the various medical departments, facilities and modern equipment that have been used to ensure the provision of the highest-quality medical services to patients.

He also listened to a detailed overview of the new facility, which touched on the stages of completing the new Emergency Services building, which is four times bigger than the old one. This was in addition to being briefed on the diagnostic and therapeutic services it provides through qualified and trained medical and nursing staff, as well as the links and passageways it has with HGH buildings and other private facilities dedicated to patients and their families.

HE the Prime Minister was accompanied on the visit by a number of their excellencies ministers and ranking officials at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed al-Kuwari said during the tour that construction of the new facility has reached its final stages, noting that it will increase the size of the current emergency department by more than four times, resulting in greater capacity to provide care for a larger number of patients who visit the emergency departments seeking treatment for a variety of reasons, including critical cases and serious injuries.

She confirmed that the new building is set to open later this year.

Further, HE Dr al-Kuwari said the total area of the emergency building is about 30,000sqm, divided into 27,000sqm of the new building and about 3,000sqm of the old building that will be redeveloped. The new building consists of four floors and 297 treatment rooms. This makes the new facility one of the region’s largest for specialised emergency care.

The new building will also include 14 operating rooms and 23 rooms for diagnostic radiology of various types, in addition to a multi-storey parking facility for 798 cars and an emergency helipad.

The new building is located opposite Hamad General Hospital’s existing emergency room and will provide a comprehensive package of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities for emergency cases, including short-stay rooms, a rapid treatment unit and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

The facility also has the capacity to handle disasters. It includes a training centre, educational and administrative services as well as diagnostic radiology and a laboratory for analysis and pharmacy.

Routes linking the new building with other parts of the hospital will be created to ensure more efficient patient transport, including a direct route connecting the building and the adjacent new operating theatres building and the intensive care unit of Hamad General Hospital.

Hamad’s emergency system is one of the busiest emergency services centres in the country, registering 429,000 visits last year. The annual number of visits to all emergency departments of HMC reached 1.2mn in 2018.

Also, emergency visits recorded a 2.2% increase between 2016 and 2018. Emergency checkups, treatment and departure were conducted within four hours of entry for about 79% of those who sought emergency care.

كما استمع معاليه لشرح مفصل حول المرفق الجديد، ومراحل إنجازه، وسعته التي تقدر بأكثر من أربعة أمثال الطوارئ القديم، والخدمات التشخيصية والعلاجية التي يقدمها، من خلال كوادر طبية وتمريضية مؤهلة ومدربة، فضلاً عن مسارات الربط مع مباني مستشفى حمد العام، والمرافق الخدمية الأخرى الخاصة بالمرضى وذويهم. رافق معاليه خلال الزيارة عدد من أصحاب السعادة الوزراء وكبار المسؤولين في مؤسسة حمد الطبية.

يتكون من 4 طوابق ويحتوي على 297 غرفة لتقديم العلاج

أكدت سعادة الدكتورة حنان محمد الكواري وزيرة الصحة العامة -خلال الجولة- أن الأعمال الإنشائية في المرفق الجديد قد وصلت إلى مراحلها النهائية، مشيرة إلى أن المرفق الجديد سيزيد من مساحة قسم الطوارئ الحالية بأكثر من أربعة أضعاف، ما يوفر طاقة استيعابية أكبر لتقديم الرعاية لأعداد أكبر من المرضى الذين يتوجهون لأقسام الطوارئ للعلاج من مجموعة متنوعة من الحالات الطارئة، بما في ذلك الحالات المرضية الحرجة، والإصابات الخطيرة، مؤكدة أنه من المقرر افتتاح المبنى الجديد في وقت لاحق من العام الحالي.

وأضافت سعادتها أن مساحة البناء الإجمالية لمبنى الطوارئ وإصابات الحوادث الجديد تبلغ حوالي 30 ألف متر مربع مقسمة إلى 27 ألف متر مربع للمبنى الجديد، وحوالي ثلاثة آلاف متر مربع من مساحة المبنى القديم؛ الذي سيعاد تطويره، ويتكون من أربعة طوابق، ويحتوي على 297 غرفة لتقديم العلاج، مما يجعل من المرفق الجديد أحد أكبر المرافق المتخصصة في الرعاية الطارئة بالمنطقة.

كما سيتضمن المبنى الجديد 14 غرفة للعمليات، و23 غرفة مخصصة للأشعة التشخيصية بأنواعها المختلفة، بالإضافة إلى مبنى مواقف سيارات متعدد الطوابق بسعة 798، ومهبط هليكوبتر للطوارئ، لخدمة كل من مبنى غرف العمليات الجديد، ومبنى الحوادث والطوارئ الجديد لمستشفى حمد العام.

سجل العام الماضي 429 ألف زيارة علاجية

يعد مبنى طوارئ مستشفى حمد العام من أكثر مراكز الطوارئ انشغالاً طوال العام، فقد سجل العام الماضي 429 ألف زيارة علاجية، كما بلغ مجموع الزيارات لكل أقسام الطوارئ -التابعة لمؤسسة حمد الطبية- 1.2 مليون زيارة في نفس السنة.

وسجلت زيارات الطوارئ زيادة بنسبة 2.2 % بين عامي 2016-2018، كما تم فحص وعلاج ومغادرة الطوارئ لنحو 79 % من مراجعي الطوارئ خلال 4 ساعات من دخولهم الطوارئ.

يوفر حزمة شاملة من المرافق والخدمات

التشخيصية والعلاجية

يقع المبنى الجديد مقابل مبنى قسم الطوارئ الحالي بمستشفى حمد العام، وسيوفر حزمة شاملة من المرافق والخدمات التشخيصية والعلاجية لحالات الحوادث والحالات الطارئة، ويشتمل على غرف للإقامة القصيرة، ووحدة للعلاج السريع، ووحدة معالجة أوكسجين تحت الضغط، كما يمتلك المشروع القدرة على التعامل مع حالات الكوارث، ويشتمل على مركز للتدريب والتعليم والخدمات الإدارية اللازمة، وكذلك الأشعة التشخيصية، ومعمل للتحاليل وصيدلية.

وسوف يتم تطبيق إجراءات تشغيلية معززة، وتوفير مسارات تربط المبنى الجديد بالمباني المجاورة له، بهدف ضمان نقل المرضى بصورة أكثر فاعلية، بما في ذلك مسار مباشر يربط بين المبنى ومبنى غرف العمليات الجديد المجاور (مركز الجراحة المتكاملة)، ووحدة العناية المركزة للإصابات والحوادث بمستشفى حمد العام.;
