With compulsory WhatsApp updates approaching .. Signal announces new features

Encrypted messaging app Signal has announced the testing of the new payments feature within the UK, in another step to attract more users.

In a statement posted on its website, the app said the latest Signal trial versions will be released today, which contain performance improvements, a large number of bug fixes, and improvements to mute settings, al JazeeraNet said.

The announcement comes from Signal, which has been introduced as an alternative application for WhatsApp in recent months, 37 days before the latter’s controversial mandatory updates, which specialists and users considered a privacy violation.

The release also includes Signal Payment, which enables users to easily send and receive privacy-focused payments such as sending or receiving a message, the statement said.

The app explained that it wants this feature to have privacy and speed, and work well on mobile devices, where mobileCoin, which has a special currency called MOB, has been added.

According to the statement, the user will need to link MobileCoin wallet to the app, so they can send money to friends and family, receive money from them, track the balance and review the transaction history with a simple interface.

It stressed Signal’s inability to access users’ different transaction data, noting the app’s willingness to expand on the feature after receiving comments within the UK.

WhatsApp continues to remind users to accept the new terms of the service and privacy policy, which were postponed last February, stressing that they must be accepted before May 15 so that they can continue to use the app.

أعلن تطبيق سيغنال (Signal) للمراسلات المشفرة عن اختبار ميزة المدفوعات الجديدة داخل المملكة المتحدة، في خطوة أخرى لجذب مزيد من المستخدمين.

وقال التطبيق في بيان نشره عبر موقعه، إنه سيتم طرح أحدث إصدارات سيغنال التجريبية اليوم، والتي تحتوي على تحسينات في الأداء، وعدداً كبيراً من إصلاحات الأخطاء، وتحسينات على إعدادات كتم الصوت، بحسب موقع الجزيرة نت.

ويأتي هذا الإعلان من سيغنال الذي طُرح كتطبيق بديل لواتساب خلال الأشهر الماضية، قبل 37 يوماً من التحديثات الإجبارية المثيرة للجدل التي أعلن عنها الأخير والتي اعتبرها المتخصصون والمستخدمون انتهاكاً للخصوصية.

وأضاف البيان، أن الإصدار يتضمن أيضاً، ميزة “مدفوعات سيغنال” (Signal Payment)، التي تمكن المستخدمين من إرسال وتسلم المدفوعات التي تركز على الخصوصية بسهولة مثل إرسال أو تلقي رسالة.

وأوضح التطبيق، أنه يريد أن تتمتع تلك الميزة بالخصوصية والسرعة، وتعمل بشكل جيد على الأجهزة المحمولة، حيث تم إضافة بروتوكول “موبايل كوين” MobileCoin، الذي يمتلك عملة خاصة تسمي موب “MOB”.

وبحسب البيان، فإن المستخدم سيكون بحاجة إلى ربط محفظة موبايل كوين بالتطبيق، ومن ثم يستطيع إرسال الأموال إلى الأصدقاء والعائلة، وتلقي الأموال منهم وتتبع الرصيد ومراجعة سجل المعاملات بواجهة بسيطة.

وأكد عدم قدرة سيغنال على الوصول إلى بيانات المعاملات المختلفة للمستخدمين، مشيراً إلى استعداد التطبيق على التوسع في تلك الميزة بعد استقبال التعليقات داخل المملكة المتحدة.

وتواصل شركة واتساب تذكير المستخدمين بقبول الشروط الجديدة الخاصة بالخدمة وسياسة الخصوصية والتي تم تأجيل العمل بها فبراير الماضي، مشددة على ضرورة قبولها قبل 15 مايو المقبل حتى يتمكنوا من متابعة استخدام التطبيق.
