French Competitor Dies at Dakar Rally

Doha: A-Weeam Saudi news, quoting the organizers of the Dakar Rally, reported the death of French motorcyclist, Pierre Cherpin, on Friday, 5 days after he had an accident in the rally in Saudi Arabia, as a result of the injury he suffered during the accident.
The newspaper pointed out that the 52-year-old French contestant underwent surgery and was placed in an induced medical coma after the accident.
According to the newspaper, Cherpin died while being transported from Jeddah to France on a medical plane.

الدوحة: ذكرت صحيفة “الوئام” السعودية نقلاً عن منظمي رالي داكار أن متسابق الدراجات النارية الفرنسي بيير شيبران، توفي اليوم الجمعة، بعد 5 أيام من تعرضه لحادث في الرالي الذي يقام في السعودية، متأثراً بالإصابة التي تعرض لها خلال الحادث.
وأوضحت الصحيفة أن المتسابق الفرنسي البالغ من العمر 52 عاماً خضع لعملية جراحية وأدخل في غيبوبة طبية صناعية بعد الحادث.
وبحسب الصحيفة، توفي شيبران خلال نقله من جدة إلى فرنسا على متن طائرة طبية.
