Epidemiologist Predicts the End of the Coronavirus in Russia in August

Doha: The Coronavirus “Covid-19” pandemic will not end in the world this year 2021, but may end in Russia in August, according to an advisor to the director of the Epidemiology Research Center at the Consumer Rights Protection Authority of Russia.

“Of course the pandemic will end sooner or later,” academic Viktor Maleev told Russia’s Novosti news agency, according to Russia Today website. “But I don’t think it will end this year, although WHO has the right to declare its end.”

The emerging coronavirus has a seasonal nature, and there is ample evidence of this. This is what we noted last summer, as casualties have decreased in Russia and other countries. So it’s not unlikely that the same thing will happen this year either.

According to Maleev, countries around the world are experiencing an increase in Covid-19 infections, including European countries, and the situation in Africa and some Asian countries remains unclear.

“We have to keep an unthinkable situation all over the world,” he says. Because it can affect the rate of infections in Russia, especially since the first recorded “Covid-19” infection in Russia came from Europe.

According to Maleev, the pandemic will begin to decline when 70% of the world’s population is immune to the disease. However, mutations in the virus must be followed up to see if existing vaccines are effective, predicting that the Covid-19 pandemic could end in Russia by August 2021, as most of the population will be immune to the disease.

“I think the rate of infections in Russia will decrease in the summer to hundreds or to individual cases, but that’s not important at the national level. I believe that the pandemic will end in Russia by next August. Because the majority will be immune to the disease. Considering the seasonality of the virus, it will end in the summer.” However, some increase in infection is not ruled out in the autumn, as people return from their annual leave to work and their areas of residence.

Russia today recorded 9,169 new cases of Covid-19, including 2,151 in Moscow, bringing the total number of cases to 4 million and 554,264 since the start of the pandemic, and 383 people died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 99,233, while the Russian Statistics Agency, which conducts a separate census, recorded significantly higher numbers and said that more than 200,000 Russians had died in The Hague, according to Reuters.

A Reuters count today showed that the number of coronavirus infections worldwide has risen to more than 128.54 million, while the total number of deaths from the virus has reached 2.935,192 since the first cases were detected in China in December 2019.

ويقول، “علينا أن نتابع تطور الأوضاع في جميع أنحاء العالم. لأنه يمكن أن يؤثر في معدل الإصابات بروسيا، خاصة وأن أول إصابة سجلت بـ”كوفيد-19″ في روسيا كان مصدرها أوروباً”.

وسجلت روسيا اليوم 9169 إصابة جديدة بكوفيد-19 منها 2151 حالة في موسكو ليرتفع إجمالي الإصابات إلى 4 ملايين و554264 منذ بدء الجائحة، وتوفي 383 شخصاً في الـ24 ساعة الماضية لتصل حصيلة الوفيات إلى 99233، بينما سجلت هيئة الإحصاء الروسية، التي تجري إحصاء منفصلاً، أعداداً أكبر بكثير وقالت إن أكثر من 200 ألف روسي توفوا بكوفيد-19 حتى يناير الماضي، بحسب رويترز.

وأظهر إحصاء لرويترز اليوم ارتفاع عدد الإصابات بكورونا في العالم إلى أكثر من  128.54 مليون نسمة أُصيبوا، في حين وصل إجمالي عدد الوفيات الناتجة عن الفيروس إلى مليونين و935192 منذ اكتشاف أولى حالات الإصابة في الصين في ديسمبر 2019.
