Obama’s Grandmother, “Mama Sarah”, Dies in Kenya

Nairobi: “Mama Sarah”, former U.S. President Barack Obama’s grandmother died yesterday, suffering from diabetes.
She passed away at the age of 99, at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Hospital in Kisumu town, her family said.
According to the family spokesman Sheikh Musa Ismail, Mama Sarah will be buried today before midday in line with the Islamic law.
Mama Sarah was the third wife of the late Hussein Obama.
The family spokesman denied that her death was Covid-19-related, noting that the result of her test for coronavirus last Sunday was negative.
The spokesman added that Obama was informed of the death of his grandmother, and he sent his condolences to the family, noting that Obama was saddened to hear the news and that he was in contact with the family.

نيروبي: توفيت أمس «ماما سارة» جدة الرئيس الأمريكي الأسبق باراك أوباما عن عمر ناهز 99 عامًا، متأثرة بإصابتها بمرض السكري، في مستشفى جاراموجى أوجينجا أودينجا فى بلدة كيسومو حسبما أعلنت أسرتها.
ووفقًا لما ذكره الشيخ موسى إسماعيل المتحدث باسم الأسرة سيتم غدًا دفن جثمان ماما سارة وفق الشريعة الإسلامية. وتُعد ماما سارة، الزوجة الثالثة للراحل حسين أوباما.
ونفى المتحدث باسم الأسرة أن تكون وفاتها لها علاقة بمرض «كوفيد-19» مشيرًا إلى أن نتيجة فحصها الخاص بفيروس كورونا يوم الأحد الماضي كانت سلبية.
وأضاف المتحدث أنه تم إبلاغ أوباما بنبأ وفاة جدته، حيث بعث ببرقية عزاء للأسرة، وأشار المتحدث إلى أن أوباما شعر بحزن إزاء سماعه هذا النبأ وأنه على تواصل مع الأسرة.
