Congolese President Invites Qatari Businessmen to Invest in His Country

Doha: HE President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Felix Tshisekedi called on Qatari businessmen and investors to invest in his country and benefit from the opportunities it offers in various sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, transportation, mining, education, and others, stressing that his country is currently working to improve the investment climate to attract more foreign investments.

This came during a meeting held between HE the President and Qatari businessmen and investors at Sheraton Hotel on Monday.

The meeting touched on ways of enhancing trade relations between both countries and exploring the investment opportunities available in DR Congo, as well as the incentives it offers to foreign investors.

HE the President also praised the Qatars interest to investment in Africa continent and in DR Congo, terming Africa as the future of world and humanity.

“Africa is rapidly progressing worldwide in the economic and political levels. It has enormous potential and natural and human resources,” he added.

HE the Congolese President emphasized that his country highly welcomes the Qatari investments, pointing out that there are a plenty of opportunities and projects in Congo that attract Qatari investors.

In turn, First Vice-Chairman of Qatar Chamber Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari praised the close relations between Qatar and DR Congo, noting that despite these strong relations, their trade volume is still modest and does not live up to the aspirations of the two peoples, and does not correspond to the potential and facilities granted by both countries.

He said that DR Congo is rich of untapped natural resources and has enormous potential in agriculture and mining, stressing that this provides great opportunities for investment and cooperation and opens the door to several opportunities to promote cooperation between Qatari companies and their Congolese counterparts.

Al Kuwari confirmed the interest of Qatari businessmen to explore the investment opportunities available in Congo and interest and support of Qatar Chamber for boosting cooperation between the private sectors of both friendly countries, expressing the Chambers readiness to help Congolese businessmen and investors seeking to set up direct or joint ventures in Qatar.

The Chamber strongly supports and urges Qatari investors to invest in DR Congo, especially that Qatar is attaching great importance to investment in Africa continent generally and in Congo in particular, he added.

He stressed that Qatar has managed to achieve a raft of accomplishments in all fields and is witnessing an inclusive economic development thanks to its wise leadership and sound economic policies, turning the State into a regional and international business and investment hub. He added that the State has built a sophisticated infrastructure, developed free and industrial zones, and issued many economic legislation and laws that created an attractive climate for investment.

QC First Vice-Chairman invited Congolese companies to invest in Qatar and build genuine partnerships with Qatari companies in almost all sectors, such as industry, services, tourism, banking, and others, expressing his hope for this meeting to lay the groundwork for both sides and represent a push for more cooperation in the future.

During the meeting, the Congolese side delivered many presentations highlighting the investment opportunities and sectors that might attract Qatari investors.

الدوحة: دعا فخامة الرئيس فليكس تشيسكيدي رئيس جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، رجال الأعمال القطريين إلى الاستثمار في بلاده، خاصة في القطاعات التي توفر فرصاً استثمارية مثل الزراعة والنقل والبنية التحتية والمعادن والتعليم، مؤكداً أن بلاده تسعى إلى تحسين مناخ الاستثمار فيها لتصبح أكثر جاذبية للاستثمار.

جاء ذلك خلال اللقاء الذي جمع فخامته مع أصحاب الأعمال والمستثمرين القطريين في فندق شيراتون الدوحة.

تناول اللقاء سبل تعزيز علاقات التعاون التجاري بين البلدين الصديقين، كما استعرض الفرص المتاحة للاستثمار في الكونغو الديمقراطية، والمحفّزات التي توفرها للمستثمرين الأجانب.

وأشاد فخامة رئيس الكونغو الديمقراطية باهتمام دولة قطر بالاستثمار في إفريقيا بصفة عامة وبالكونغو الديمقراطية على وجه الخصوص، مشيراً إلى أن إفريقيا هي مستقبل العالم والإنسانية، حيث إنها تتقدم بشكل سريع على المستوى السياسي والاقتصادي، كما أنها تمتلك إمكانيات وموارد بشرية وطبيعية هائلة.

ونوه بأن الكونغو الديمقراطية ترحب بالاستثمارات القطرية، مؤكداً أن بلاده تزخر بالكثير من المشاريع التي تنتظر المستثمرين، كما أنها تعمل على حل كافة المعوقات التي تواجه الاستثمار وذلك بهدف حماية كافة الاستثمارات الأجنبية.

من جانبه، أشاد السيد محمد بن أحمد طوار الكواري النائب الأول لرئيس غرفة قطر، بالعلاقات الطيبة التي تربط بين دولة قطر وجمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، لافتا إلى أنه رغم ذلك، فإن التبادل التجاري بين البلدين لا يزال دون مستوى التطلعات ولا يتناسب مع حجم الإمكانات المتاحة في كلا البلدين.

وقال إن الإمكانات الهائلة في الزراعة والتعدين والموارد الطبيعية التي تزخر بها جمهورية الكونغو توفر فرصا مهمة للاستثمار وتفتح المجال لتطوير التعاون بين الشركات القطرية والكونغولية، لافتا إلى اهتمام أصحاب الأعمال القطريين بالتعرف على الفرص الاستثمارية المتاحة في الكونغو الديمقراطية، مؤكداً حرص غرفة قطر ودعمها لتعزيز التعاون بين القطاع الخاص في كلا البلدين الصديقين.

وأضاف أن الغرفة على استعداد لمساعدة أصحاب الأعمال والمستثمرين من الكونغو الديمقراطية الراغبين في إنشاء مشاريع مباشرة أو مشتركة في قطر، كما شجع المستثمرين القطريين على الاستثمار في الكونغو الديمقراطية، لا سيما وأن دولة قطر تولي اهتماما كبيرا بالاستثمار في إفريقيا بشكل عام وفي الكونغو الديمقراطية على وجه الخصوص.

وأشار الكواري إلى أن دولة قطر تشهد نهضة اقتصادية شاملة بفضل القيادة الرشيدة والسياسات الاقتصادية السديدة التي تنتهجها، والتي جعلت من قطر مركزا إقليميا وعالميا رائدا للأعمال والاستثمار، حيث طورت بنية تحتية على مستوى عالمي وأنشأت المناطق الحرة والصناعية وأصدرت العديد من التشريعات والقوانين الاقتصادية التي خلقت بيئة استثمارية جاذبة للاستثمار.

ودعا الشركات الكونغولية للاستثمار في قطر وبناء شراكات مع الشركات القطرية في قطاعات كثيرة مثل الصناعة والخدمات والسياحة وغيرها، متمنياً أن يشكل اللقاء قاعدة متينة وأساسا للتعاون بين الطرفين ويمثل دفعة في علاقات القطاع الخاص في المستقبل.

وخلال اللقاء، قدم الجانب الكونغولي عروضا تقديمية تناولت الفرص الاستثمارية المتاحة والمشاريع والقطاعات التي يمكن أن تجذب المستثمرين القطريين.
