Demand for support and control to prevent increase in prices during Ramadan

Doha: A number of consumers have called for supporting the prices of vegetables and fruits during Ramadan, as well as other consumer food commodities such as meat, given the urgent need for these goods during the holy month. Consumers called on local farm owners to redouble their efforts during the next phase to increase production, and work to provide the local market with vegetables and fruits as much as possible in the month of Ramadan, which is only two weeks away from us, during which the demand rises for these foods, due to their great confidence in local products that are better for them in terms of quality, compared to their counterparts coming from abroad, which are often subject to storage in cold rooms and thus loses much of its nutritional usefulness, calling on farmers and those responsible for marketing vegetables and fruits to ensure that they are distributed throughout the country, and focus on supplying them to various retail points regardless of their area of presence, whether in the north or south, stressing the ability of local farms to take such a step and bring their productivity to higher levels, with all the assistance available.

While others said that the most important thing that makes local vegetables and fruits able to reserve their place in the market at the expense of other imported products is their prices in line with the purchasing capacities of all citizens or residents, in addition to their high quality, stressing the need to keep local or imported vegetables as they are at the moment, a task that falls on the consumer protection sector in the country, who are expected to intensify their control rounds, and punish all retail entities that may try to take advantage of the high need for vegetables and fruits during Ramadan, by increasing the price of agricultural crops and market them with a financial value that exceeds their current value.

الدوحة: طالب عدد من المستهلكين بدعم أسعار الخضراوات والفواكه خلال رمضان أسوة بدعم السلع الغذائية الاستهلاكية الأخرى كاللحوم، وذلك بالنظر إلى الحاجة الماسة إلى هذه السلع خلال الشهر المبارك. ودعا المستهلكون أصحاب المزارع المحلية لمضاعفة جهدهم خلال المرحلة المقبلة لزيادة الإنتاج، والعمل على تمويل السوق المحلي للخضراوات والفواكه بأكبر الكميات الممكنة من المحاصيل المحلية في شهر رمضان الذي لم يعد يفصلنا عنه سوى أسبوعين، والذي غالبا ما يزيد الطلب فيه على هذا النوع من المواد الغذائية، مرجعين ذلك إلى ثقتهم الكبيرة في المنتجات المحلية التي تعد الأفضل بالنسبة لهم من حيث الجودة، إذا ما قورنت بنظيراتها القادمة من الخارج التي غالبا ما تخضع إلى التخزين في غرف التبريد ما يفقدها الكثير من فائدتها الغذائية، داعين المزارعين والجهات المسؤولة عن تسويق الخضراوات والفواكه إلى الحرص على توزيعها في جميع أرجاء الدولة، والتركيز على توريدها لمختلف نقاط البيع بالتجزئة بغض النظر عن منطقة تواجدها سواء كان ذلك في الشمال أو الجنوب، مؤكدين قدرة المزارع المحلية على القيام بمثل هذه الخطوة والوصول بمردوديتهم الإنتاجية إلى مستويات أعلى، في ظل تواجد جميع الإمكانيات المساعدة على ذلك.

في حين قال البعض الآخر منهم إن أكثر ما يجعل من الخضراوات والفواكه المحلية قادرة على حجز مكانها في السوق على حساب غيرها من المنتجات المستوردة، هو أسعارها المتماشية مع القدرات الشرائية للجميع مواطنين كانوا أو مقيمين، بالإضافة إلى نوعيتها العالية، مشددين على ضرورة إبقاء الخضراوات المحلية أو المستوردة على ما هي عليه في الوقت الراهن، وهي المهمة التي تقع على عاتق قطاع حماية المستهلك في البلاد، وهم الذين ينتظر منهم تكثيف جولاتهم الرقابية، ومعاقبة كل جهات البيع بالتجزئة التي قد تحاول الاستفادة من ارتفاع الحاجة إلى الخضراوات والفواكه في رمضان، عن طريق زيادة ثمن المحاصيل الزراعية وترويجها بقيمة مالية تتعدى تلك التي تباع بها حاليا.
