Shura Council Participates in Parliamentary Meeting on Achieving Gender Parity

Doha: The Shura Council participated yesterday in a parliamentary meeting entitled “What will it take to reach gender parity in political participation in a post-COVID-19 world?” held by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and UN Women, through video conference technology.
The meeting discussed the most important and best practices for achieving gender parity and overcoming the challenges that prevent this in parliaments, especially in light of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which contributed to the decline in women’s leadership participation and political decision-making.
The Shura Council was represented in this meeting by HE Reem bint Mohammed Al Mansouri, Council Member and Member of the Bureau of Women Parliamentarians of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

الدوحة: شارك مجلس الشورى، يوم الأمس، في اجتماع برلماني بعنوان /ما الذي يلزم المرأة للوصول إلى التكافؤ بين الرجال والنساء (الجندري) في المشاركة السياسية في عالم ما بعد جائحة كوفيد-19؟/، عقده الاتحاد البرلماني الدولي وهيئة الأمم المتحدة للمرأة، وذلك عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي.
ناقش الاجتماع، أبرز الممارسات المثلى لتحقيق الوصول إلى التكافؤ بين الرجال والنساء والتغلب على التحديات التي تحول دون ذلك في البرلمانات، لاسيما في ضوء آثار جائحة كورونا /كوفيد-19/ التي ساهمت في تراجع المشاركة القيادية للمرأة وصنع القرار السياسي.
مثل مجلس الشورى في هذا الاجتماع سعادة السيدة ريم بنت محمد المنصوري، عضو المجلس، عضو مكتب الاتحاد البرلماني الدولي للنساء البرلمانيات.
