QC Inaugurates New Educational Projects in Somalia

Doha: Qatar Charity opened the Fateh Al-Andalus Educational Center in Galmudug State of Somalia, in a ceremony attended by official and academic figures.

The center aims to provide educational and cultural services and contribute to raising school attendance rates.

The center includes a school with nine classrooms, offices, halls and a mosque. The number of beneficiaries is estimated at 350 male and female students. The location of the project was chosen due to the regions greater need for such services.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of State for Education in Galmudug State of Somalia Mursal Abd Adam thanked the people in Qatar and the Qatari leadership for supporting the Somali people. He also appreciated Qatar Charity’s role in supporting the educational sector of his country by implementing many educational and cultural projects in all the states of Somalia, with support from benefactors in Qatar.

Qatar Charity has recently opened educational and development projects in the Somali city of Kismayo, in Jubaland state.

The first project is a multi-service center that includes a school, a mosque, a green square, a surface well, a clinic, a center for memorizing the Holy Qur’an and shops. The second project consists of houses for the poor that includes 24 housing units and a mosque.

الدوحة: افتتحت قطر الخيرية مركز فاتح الأندلس التعليمي بولاية /جلمدغ/ في الصومال، بحضور لفيف من الشخصيات الرسمية والأكاديمية.

ويهدف المركز إلى تقديم خدمات تعليمية وثقافية لسكان المنطقة والمساهمة في رفع نسب التمدرس وترسيخ الاهتمام بالأنشطة التربوية والتعليمية والثقافية.

ويضم المركز مدرسة أساسية وثانوية وفصول دراسية ومكاتب إدارية وقاعات ومسجد. ويقدر عدد المستفيدين بـ 350 طالبا وطالبة. وتم اختيار مكان تنفيذ المشروع نظرا لحاجة المنطقة الأكثر لهذه الخدمات.

وفي كلمته بحفل الافتتاح عبر السيد مرسل عبد آدم وزير الدولة بوزارة التعليم والتربية بولاية جلمدغ عن شكره وتقديره للشعب القطري والقيادة القطرية على وقوفهم إلى جانب الشعب الصومالي الذي يمر بمرحلة التحول التدريجي إلى الاستقرار السياسي والتنمية المستدامة، كما ثمن دور قطر الخيرية في مساندة القطاع التعليمي ببلاده، وذلك عبر المشاريع التعليمية والثقافية التي تنفذها في جميع الأقاليم الصومالية بدعم أهل الخير في قطر.

يذكر أن قطر الخيرية افتتحت مؤخرا مشاريع تعليمية وتنموية في مدينة /كسمايو/ بولاية /جوبالاند/ الصومالية، تتكون من مركز متعدد الخدمات يضم مدرسة أساسية وثانوية ومسجدا، وساحة خضراء وبئرا سطحية، ومستوصفا طبيا ومركزا لتحفيظ القرآن الكريم ومحلات، كوقف خيري. كما تضم المشاريع “بيوت للفقراء” يضم 24 وحدة سكنية ومسجدا.
