SpaceX Launches 60 Small Satellites

Washington: The U.S. Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) has launched a series of 60 Starlink Internet model satellites.

The Falcon 9 rocket launched the 16th group from Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Sunday evening, the company said in a statement.

The first part of the multi-use rocket landed successfully, nine minutes after its launch on a floating platform in the Atlantic Ocean.

It is noteworthy that the “Starlink” Satellite Group is devoted to covering the entire globe with the high-speed Internet, thanks to the deployment of a large number of satellites into Earth’s orbit, and each satellite weighs no more than 500 kilograms.

The project began on February 22, 2018, and launched its first 60 satellites in May 2019.

واشنطن: أطلقت مؤسسة تكنولوجيات استكشاف الفضاء الأمريكية /سبيس إكس/ مجموعة من الأقمار الصناعية تضم 60 قمرا صناعيا، من طراز /ستارلينك/ الخاص بالإنترنت.

وقالت الشركة في بيان إن صاروخ /فالكون 9/ أطلق المجموعة السادسة عشرة، من قاعدة /كيب كانافيرال/ بولاية فلوريدا الأمريكية، مساء أمس /الأحد/.

وقد هبط الجزء الأول من الصاروخ متعدد الاستخدام بنجاح، بعد تسع دقائق من إطلاقه في منصة عائمة في المحيط الأطلسي .

يذكر أن مجموعة /ستارلينك/ للأقمار الصناعية تخصص لتغطية الكرة الأرضية كلها بشبكة الإنترنت السريع، وذلك بفضل نشر كمية كبيرة من الأقمار الصناعية في مدار الأرض، ولا يزيد وزن كل قمر صناعي عن 500 كيلوغرام.

وبدأ تنفيذ هذا المشروع في 22 فبراير 2018، وأطلق أول 60 قمرا تابعا لمنظومته في مايو 2019.
