“متحف” يستضيف الفنانة القطرية هناء السعدي
DOHA: Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha has dedicated a part of its space for a new display of work by Qatari artist Hana Al Saadi.
On show through May 13, the installation entitled “Proposal for a Public Sculpture”, is on view in Mathaf’s Project Space, dedicated to emerging artists and curators’ experimentations with new ideas and forms of presentation.
Presented by Qatar Museums (QM) under the leadership of its Chairperson, H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, ‘Proposal for a Public Sculpture’ is Al Saadi’s first solo presentation.
The project invites Al Saadi to explore experimental processes of research, production, and conceptual thinking to develop a proposal for a public sculpture in Doha, literally giving Al Saadi the space and time to develop her research around tendencies of self-expression and social rituals, and the role of public art in Doha.
Curated by Laura Barlow, Curator at Mathaf, Proposal for a Public Sculpture takes the shape of the artist’s studio, featuring a library of working documents, books, and recorded interviews, a display of working drawings and sculpture maquettes and a meeting point for conversations and debate.
The installation will evolve over the course of its three-month lifespan through dialogue with the Mathaf teams, the public, creative and spatial practitioners and academics through open forum discussions.
At the completion of the project on May 13, Al Saadi will hold a public talk with Mathaf Curator Laura Barlow to discuss the project process and research highlights.
Commenting on the project, Abdellah Karroum, Director of Mathaf, said: “Hana Al Saadi is a promising and an emerging contemporary artist, educated and graduated in Qatar. Her art practice is very innovative and bringing discussion about our societies’ heritage and aspirations.
“We are proud to dedicate Mathaf’s Project Space to emerging artists to develop original works in collaboration with curators, a key part of our strategy in making museums contributing to nurture and support artists throughout their careers.”
Al Saadi holds a BFA in painting and printmaking from VCU-Qatar and recently took part in the largest exhibition of art from Qatar titled ‘Contemporary Art Qatar’ in Berlin’s legendary Kraftwerk space.
يستضيف المتحف العربي للفن الحديث “متحف” ، الفنانة القطرية هناء السعدي حتى 13 مايو المقبل لإبداع عمل فني جديد تحت عنوان “مقترح منحوتة للفن العام ” ، حيث تباشر السعدي العمل على مشروعها الفني في فضاء المشاريع المخصص للفنانين الناشئين أصحاب الأفكار الفنية الجديدة وأشكال العرض المبتكرة.
وتقدم متاحف قطر تحت رعاية سعادة الشيخة المياسة بنت حمد آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس أمناء متاحف قطر، مشروع ” منحوتة للفن العام “، وهي المرة الأولى التي سيعرض خلالها عمل فني بشكل فردي للفنانة هناء السعدي ، حيث يأتي المشروع ليفتح أمامها حيزا مكانيا وزمنيا يوسع الرؤى الفكرية فيما يتعلق بتوجهات التعبير عن الذات والطقوس الاجتماعية، وكذلك الدور الذي يضطلع به الفن العام في الدوحة.
وتحت إشراف لورا بارلو، قيم بـ “متحف”، يأخذ مشروع ” منحوتة للفن العام ” شكل استوديو الفنانة ومكتبة تضم وثائق عمل والعديد من الكتب والمقابلات المسجلة، وكذلك حيزا تعرض فيه مخططات ونماذج لمنحوتات صغيرة، وكما يعد منبرا لتبادل لأفكار ولمتابعة الحوار.
وسيتطور المشروع على مدار 3 أشهر من خلال النقاشات مع كادر المتحف والجمهور وأكاديميين وشخصيات ناشطة في الحقل الإبداعي والتصميم.
وتعليقا على المشروع، قال السيد عبدالله كروم، مدير المتحف العربي للفن الحديث :” إن الفنانة هناء السعدي تتميز بأسلوب فني مبتكر يفتح باب النقاش حول تراث مجتمعاتنا وطموحاتها” ، لافتا إلى أنه سيتم إجراء عدد من الفعاليات والمبادرات التعليمية على هامش هذا المعرض الواعد.
يشار إلى أن المتحف العربي للفن الحديث يضم أكبر مجموعة دائمة من أعمال الفن العربي الحديث والمعاصر في العالم، حيث تزيد مقتنياتها عن 9 آلاف عمل فني يعود تاريخها إلى القرن التاسع عشر حتى يومنا هذا ، وتسلط المجموعة الضوء على المنطقة وتاريخها وروابطها الثقافية من شمال إفريقيا لآسيا ومن تركيا وإيران.
