GCC moves against the new provoking trend “baby bottles” drinks

Doha: After the spread of the phenomenon of serving drinks in baby bottles in cafes provoked a wave of widespread disapproval, a number of Gulf countries moved to stop the spread of this intruded phenomenon to the customs and traditions of Gulf societies that contrasts with religious values, as it is a clear violation of the precautionary measures related to limiting the spread of Coronavirus.

Following posting pictures on social media of these new drinks served in baby bottles, and advertisements for cafés and cafeterias, the phenomenon began to spread, prompting official action.

Kuwait: Banning these drinks and a stern warning for cafes

The monitoring agencies and emergency teams in Kuwait Municipality decided on Sunday to fine one of the cafés that serve their drinks in baby bottles.

According to Kuwait’s Al-Watan newspaper, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Kuwait has warned all cafes and restaurants not to serve drinks in baby bottles, noting that these practices are contrary to precautionary and preventive measures against the coronavirus and contrary to the customs of Kuwaiti society.

According to the ministry’s official letter, the café’s violation of the aforementioned activity will fall under the 2014/39 decision for consumer protection, and resolution 87/2015 from the list of shops, the general etiquette clause, indicating that the control of shops and related services is one of the duties of the municipality, along with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait.

Oman: Banning these drinks because of lack of respect for religious values and customs

For its part, the Consumer Protection Authority of Oman, represented by its management in Al-Buraimi, dealt with a café in the province after receiving numerous reports of it offering cold drinks in baby milk bottles, expressing their displeasure with this extraneous behavior to the customs of Omani society.

According to the Omani Al-Shabiba Newspaper, the administration immediately initiated measures to prevent its circulation under article (21) of the Consumer Protection Act, which stipulates that “the provider is obliged to respect religious values, customs and traditions when providing the consumer with any commodity or receiving any service”, as well as the text of article (26) of its executive regulations “prohibits the circulation of goods that come in forms of Indecent or immoral forms.”

The Authority also called on business owners to take into account the customs and traditions of Omani society and to stay away from trends that would harm them.

Bahrain and the UAE

The Bahraini Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism yesterday warned all shops, cafés and restaurants not to serve drinks in baby bottles, noting that these practices are contrary to business and contrary to the customs and traditions of Bahraini society.

Dubai’s economy has also been banned from serving beverages in baby bottles to curb the spread of Covid-19 and because it is contrary to customs and traditions

الدوحة: بعدما أثار انتشار ظاهرة تناول المشروبات في رضاعات أطفال بالمقاهي موجة استهجان واسعة، تحركت عدد من الدول الخليجية لوقف انتشار هذه الظاهرة الدخيلة على عادات وتقاليد المجتمعات الخليجية وتتنافى مع القيم الدينية، كما أنها تعد مخالفة صريحة للإجراءات الاحترازية الخاصة بالحد من انتشار كورونا 

وبدأت هذه الظاهرة في الانتشار، إثر نشر صور على مواقع التواصل الاجتماعي، لتناول هذه المشروبات الجديدة في مراضع الأطفال، وإعلانات لمقاهي وكافيتريات عن تقديمها، ما استدعى تحركاً رسمياً. 

الكويت: حظر تقديم هذه المشروبات وتحذير صارم للمقاهي  

قررت الأجهزة الرقابية وفرق الطوارئ في بلدية الكويت، يوم الأحد، مخالفة أحد المقاهي التي تقدم مشروباتها في مراضع الأطفال .

ووفق صحيفة الوطن الكويتية، فقد حذرت وزارة الصناعة والتجارة في الكويت كافة المقاهي والمطاعم من تقديم المشروبات في مراضع الأطفال، مشيرة إلى أن هذه الممارسات مخالفة للإجراءات الاحترازية والتدابير الوقائية من فيروس كورونا وتتنافى مع عادات المجتمع الكويتي.

وبحسب كتاب الوزارة الرسمي، فإن مخالفة المحل والنشاط المذكور ستندرج تحت قرار 2014/39 لحماية المستهلك، وقرار 87 /2015 من لائحة المحلات، بند الآداب العامة، مبينة أن مراقبة المحلات والخدمات المتعلقة بها أحد واجبات البلدية، إلى جانب وزارة التجارة والصناعة الكويتية.

سلطنة عمان : منع تداول هذه المشروبات لعدم احترام القيم الدينية والعادات 

من جانبها، تعاملت هيئة حماية المستهلك في سلطنة عمان – ممثلة بإدارتها في البريمي – مع أحد المقاهي في المحافظة بعد ورود العديد من البلاغات عليه لتقديمه المشروبات الباردة بالزجاجات المخصصة لشرب الحليب الخاصة بالأطفال معبرين عن استيائهم من هذه التقليعة الدخيلة على عادات المجتمع العماني.

وحسب صحيفة الشبيبة العمانية، باشرت الإدارة فورًا بالإجراءات الكفيلة بمنع تداولها وذلك بموجب المادة (21) من قانون حماية المستهلك والتي تنص على “يلتزم المزود باحترام القيم الدينية والعادات والتقاليد عند تزويد المستهلك بأي سلعة أو تلقيه أي خدمة” ، وكذلك ما جاء في نص المادة (26) من لائحته التنفيذية ” يحظر تداول السلع التي تأتي على أشكال خادشة للحياء أو مخلة بالآداب العامة “

كما دعت الهيئة أصحاب الأعمال إلى الأخذ بعين الاعتبار عادات وتقاليد المجتمع العماني الأصيلة والابتعاد عن كل ما من شأنه المساس بها.

البحرين والإمارات 

وكانت وزارة الصناعة والتجارة والسياحة البحرينية قد حذرت أمس كافة المحلات التجارية والمقاهي والمطاعم من تقديم المشروبات في مراضع الأطفال، مشيرة إلى أن هذه الممارسات مخالفة للعمل التجاري وتتنافى مع عادات وأعراف المجتمع البحريني .

كما غردت اقتصادية دبي بمنع تقديم المشروبات في رضاعات الأطفال للحد من انتشار كوفيد 19 ولكونه مخالفاً للعادات والتقاليد.
