Ashghal Partially Opens Lulu Intersection to Traffic

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has partially opened the traffic junction known as Lulu Intersection on D-Ring Road to traffic, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.
By this opening, commuters from Jaber Bin Hayyan Street and Al Hurriya Street can reach D-Ring Road towards north on left, or towards Al Matar Street on right.
Commuters from Al Matar Street via D-Ring Road can turn left to Jaber Bin Hayyan Street or turn back, and those coming from the north via D-Ring Road towards Old Airport can take a right turn at Lulu Intersection to Jaber bin Hayyan Street.
On his part, Eng. Abdulla Darwish from the Highway Projects Department of Ashghal confirmed that the opening of the Lulu Intersection would smoothen traffic flow in the area, especially for commuters to and from Old Airport via D-Ring Road. He clarified that about 30% of works on the D-Ring Road development project is over and the complete delivery is expected in the first quarter of 2022.
The opening of the Lulu Intersection is the first achievement of the D-Ring Road development project, which includes the development of Fereej Al Ali Intersection (known as Al Tadamon Interchange), Nuaija Intersection (The Mall), and Lulu Intersection. This expansion will enhance the traffic capacity of the interchanges and largely reduce traffic congestion in the area, especially at Fereej Al Ali Interchange (Al Tadamon Interchange) loaded with heavy traffic.
The improvement works within the project also include developing rainwater drainage networks to raise the efficiency of drainage in the area, by constructing a stormwater drainage tunnel with a total length of about 3.5 km.
The project also includes the construction of a common path for pedestrians and cyclists on both sides of D-Ring Road along 4.5 kilometers, in addition to tree-plantation and landscaping works throughout the project.
It worth noting that special attention is paid to maintain the Qatari heritage of the project area known as Rawdat Al Khail, during designing the beautification elements of the tunnel under construction within the project, and it is planned to implement murals containing Qatari heritage inside the tunnel.

الدوحة: افتتحت هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/ التقاطع المعروف بتقاطع /اللولو/ على الطريق الدائري الرابع بشكل جزئي أمام الحركة المرورية، وذلك بالتنسيق مع الإدارة العامة للمرور .
وأكد المهندس عبدالله درويش، من إدارة مشروعات الطرق السريعة في /أشغال/، أن افتتاح تقاطع /اللولو/ يسهل الحركة المرورية في المنطقة خصوصاً أمام القادمين من وإلى المطار العتيق، مشيراً إلى أنه تم إنجاز نحو 30 بالمئة من أعمال تطوير الدائري الرابع، ومن المقرر الانتهاء من المشروع في الربع الأول من 2022.
وأوضح أن افتتاح تقاطع /اللولو/ هو أول إنجاز على مشروع تطوير الطريق الدائري الرابع والذي يتضمن تطوير تقاطع فريج العلي (المعروف بتقاطع التضامن)، وتقاطع نعيجة (المول)، والتقاطع المعروف بتقاطع /اللولو/، مما سيعمل على تعزيز القدرة الاستيعابية للتقاطعات وتقليل الازدحام المروري في المنطقة بشكل كبير، خصوصاً على تقاطع فريج العلي (المعروف بتقاطع التضامن) الذي يشهد حركة مرورية كثيفة.
وأضاف المهندس عبدالله درويش أن أعمال التحسينات التي سيتم تنفيذها ضمن المشروع تتضمن أيضاً تطوير شبكات تصريف مياه الأمطار لرفع كفاءة صرف مياه الأمطار بالمنطقة، وذلك من خلال إنشاء نفق لتصريف مياه الأمطار بطول إجمالي يصل إلى حوالي 3 كيلومترات ونصف.
وتابع أن أعمال المشروع تشمل كذلك تنفيذ مسار مشترك للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية على جانبي الطريق بطول حوالي 4 كيلومترات ونصف، بالإضافة إلى أعمال التشجير على امتداد المشروع.. لافتا إلى الاهتمام بالتراث القطري للمنطقة المحيطة بالمشروع أثناء تصميم العناصر الجمالية للنفق الذي سيتم إنشاؤه ضمن المشروع، حيث إنه من المقرر تنفيذ جداريات مستوحاة من التراث القطري داخل النفق.
