Saudi Arabia: Pilgrims Must Be Vaccinated to Perform this Year’s Hajj

Doha: The Saudi Ministry of Health announced on Monday that receiving the coronavirus vaccine is a key condition for those wishing to perform hajj this year.

Saudi Health Minister Tawfiq Al-Rabiah called for early preparation to secure the manpower needed to operate health facilities in Mecca.

The ministry did not disclose details about the pilgrims coming in, whether they are from outside the Saudi Kingdom or inside it, and whether the coronavirus vaccine is required to be taken in their countries.

The Saudi minister also did not say whether this year’s hajj would be limited to pilgrims of all nationalities from within the Saudi Kingdom, such as last year.

Saudi Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah linked the admission of participants to the hajj season by receiving the anti-coronavirus vaccine which is the main condition for participation.

“We have to prepare early to secure the manpower required to operate the health facilities in Mecca, the holy rituals, Al-Madina Al-Monawara, entry points for this year’s hajj season, and the formation of a coronavirus vaccine committee for participants in the Hajj and Umrah season, and therefore they have adopted the mandatory use of the Coronavirus vaccine for those wishing to participate, as it is one of the requirements for participating in the hajj season,” Al-Rabiah said in a circular on Monday evening.

Last year’s hajj was held in limited numbers for those wishing to perform hajj rituals of different nationalities from within the Kingdom.

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة الصحة السعودية، أمس الاثنين، أن تلقي اللقاح ضد فيروس كورونا شرطا رئيسيا، للراغبين في أداء فريضة الحج هذا العام.

ودعا وزير الصحة السعودية توفيق الربيعة، إلى الإعداد المبكر لتأمين القوى العاملة المطلوبة من أجل تشغيل المرافق الصحية في مكة.

ولم تكشف الوزارة، تفاصيل حول الحجاج القادمون إن كانوا خارج المملكة أو الداخل، سيشترط أخذ اللقاح ضد كورونا في بلدانهم.

كما لم يذكر الوزير السعودي، إن كان حج هذا العام سيقتصر على حجاج الداخل من جميع الجنسيات مثل ما حدث العام الماضي.

ووجه وزير الصحة السعودية الدكتور توفيق الربيعة، ربط قبول المشاركين في موسم الحج بتلقيهم اللقاح المضاد لفيروس كورونا والمسبب لمرض “كوفيد-19″، واعتباره الشرط الرئيسي للمشاركة.

وقال الربيعة في تعميم له مساء الإثنين: “عليكم الإعداد المبكر لتأمين القوى العاملة المطلوبة لتشغيل المرافق الصحية في مكة المكرمة والمشاعر المقدسة والمدينة المنورة ومنافذ دخول الحجاج، لموسم الحج للعام الحالي، وتكوين لجنة لقاحات كورونا للمشاركين في موسم الحج والعمرة، وعليه اعتمدوا إلزامية أخذ لقاح كورونا للراغبين في المشاركة، إذ إنه أحد اشتراطات المشاركة في موسم الحج”.

ويشار إلى أن حج العام الماضي، أقيمت بأعداد محدودة للراغبين بأداء مناسك الحج من مختلف الجنسيات من الموجودين داخل المملكة.
