Ashghal Implements Two Projects to Discharge Surface Water and Storm Water

Doha: The Public Works Authority Ashghal announced the completion of the surface water drainage network at a length of 7.2 km to serve the areas running from Al Hamm Street to Al-Sailiya Road. This network is connected to another one which Ashghal completed in November 2020, at a length of 4.4 km and which serves Fereej Al-Manaseer, South Muaither, Bu Sidra to Al Furousiya Street.

Hence, both networks were carried out at a total length of 11.6 km and serve several Western Areas in Doha such as Al-Sailiya, Al Mearad, Rawdat Al Naisar, Muaither, Bu Sidra, Southwest Muaither, Al-Rayyan East until Fereej Al-Manaseer.

Eng. Fahad Al Otaibi, Head of Western Areas Section, at Ashghals Roads Projects Department pointed out that the recently implemented project involved pipe laying works for stormwater drainage network and constructing 32 rainwater drainage manholes. The surface water drainage pipes within the project are laid along Al Sailiya Street, Al Hamm Street, Umm Al Shawahin Street and New Al-Sailiya Road, to tie into the pipeline in Al Waab Street up to Al Furousiya Street. The network eventually flow into Bu Sidra and Al-Manaseer pumping stations.

Eng. Fahad Al Otaibi also stated that the two completed networks provide an integrated solution to discharge surface water and stormwater in the main streets in order to reduce stormwater accumulation during the rainy season and facilitate discharging of ponds and rainwater effectively, thereby reducing congestion and the risk of traffic accidents in the rainy season. They will also contribute to lowering the groundwater level to protect the foundations of buildings and roads in these areas.

It is worth noting that both networks provide 93 tie-ins and 60 rainwater drainage manholes which serve 7 areas West of Doha and they include surface water and rainwater drainage network pipelines laid at depths ranging from 7m to 23m underground.

الدوحة: انتهت هيئة الأشغال العامة /أشغال/ من تنفيذ شبكة لتصريف المياه السطحية بطول 7.2 كيلومتر لخدمة المناطق الواقعة على شارع /الهام/ وحتى طريق السيلية، حيث تتصل هذه الشبكة بشبكة أخرى بطول 4.4 كيلومتر كانت /أشغال/ قد أعلنت عن إنجازها في نوفمبر 2020، وتخدم منطقة فريج المناصير وجنوب معيذر وبوسدرة حتى شارع الفروسية.

ويبلغ طول الشبكتين مجتمعتين 11.6 كيلومتر، وتخدمان معا عدة مناطق غرب الدوحة وهي منطقة السيلية والمعراض وروضة النيسر ومعيذر وبوسدرة وجنوب وغرب معيذر وشرق الريان، وصولا إلى فريج المناصير.

وأوضح المهندس فهد العتيبي، رئيس قسم المناطق الغربية بإدارة مشروعات الطرق في /أشغال/، أن المشروع المنجز مؤخرا اشتمل على أعمال تمديد أنابيب شبكة تصريف المياه السطحية ومياه الأمطار، وتنفيذ حوالي 32 منهلا لتصريف مياه الأمطار، حيث تمتد خطوط تصريف مياه الأمطار ضمن المشروع على طريق السيلية وشارع الهام وشارع أم الشواهين وطريق السيلية الجديد، لتتصل بالأنبوب الممتد على شارع الوعب وصولا إلى شارع الفروسية لتصب في محطة ضخ بوسدرة ومحطة ضخ المناصير.

وأضاف المهندس العتيبي أن الشبكتين المنجزتين غرب الدوحة وفرتا حلا متكاملا لتصريف المياه السطحية ومياه الأمطار في الشوارع الرئيسية من أجل منع تراكم مياه الأمطار في موسمها، وتصريف تجمعاتها بفاعلية وتقليل الازدحام ومخاطر الحوادث المرورية في موسم الأمطار، فضلا عن أنهما ستسهمان في خفض منسوب المياه الجوفية لحماية أساسات المباني والطرق في هذه المناطق.

يذكر أن الشبكتين معا توفران 93 وصلة لخطوط شبكة التصريف و60 فتحة لتصريف مياه الأمطار، وتخدمان 7 مناطق غرب الدوحة، كما توفران خطوطا لشبكة تصريف المياه السطحية ومياه الأمطار على أعماق تتراوح بين 7 و 23 مترا تحت سطح الأرض.
