Will the GCC Health Passport be activated soon?

Doha: The upcoming Gulf Health Council meeting will discuss the possibility of activating a health passport or an immunity health certificate to facilitate the movement of citizens between GCC countries.

Gulf health ministers are also discussing the possibility of linking accredited Gulf applications to each other, which are related to the results of swabs and vaccine receipts.

Kuwait’s Al-Anbaa newspaper quoted sources as saying that the Gulf Health Council is currently studying the genetic sequence of the Covid-19 virus in the Gulf states.

The newspaper explained that the Council “It may be required to perform a PCR test before entering or upon arrival in the Gulf countries, provided that the certificate is standardized, with applications for each country to ensure the validity of the examination data, and the validity of the examination certificate is 72 hours, while the citizens of the Council continue to enter with a passport and not with a civil card.”

The sources said gulf citizens would continue to be treated free of charge in the GCC countries if they were diagnosed with Coved-19 in any Gulf country.

There is an emphasis on the application of precautionary measures in the GCC countries, such as quarantine for arrivals and isolation of infected people, as well as “the exchange of information in the GCC regarding new breeds and precautionary measures that are applied in each country, and the effectiveness of PCR tests to detect mutated viruses.” The newspaper added

The Gulf ministries of health “share information on new vaccines, the effectiveness of vaccines used with different ages, and the mutations and side effects that are monitored,” Al-Anbaa said.

More recently, as part of its efforts to control the coronavirus, most Gulf states have resorted to issuing a healthy passport to their populations who have received a vaccine against the epidemic, with the aim of securing travel and making it safer and smoother.

The GCC states were among the first to launch the health passport and issue it to their population, after they were confirmed to have received the second dose of the Coronanirus vaccine.

كما يبحث وزراء صحة دول الخليج إمكانية ربط التطبيقات الخليجية المعتمدة بعضها ببعض، والخاصة بنتائج المسحات وتلقي اللقاح.

ونقلت صحيفة “الأنباء” الكويتية عن مصادر قولها، إن مجلس الصحة بدول الخليج يدرس حالياً التسلسل الجيني لفيروس “كوفيد-19” في دول الخليج.

وأوضحت أن المجلس “ربما يشترط عمل فحص PCR قبل الدخول أو حين الوصول لدول الخليج، على أن تكون الشهادة موحدة، مع وجود تطبيقات لكل دولة للتأكد من صحة بيانات الفحص، وتكون صلاحية شهادة الفحص 72 ساعة، مع الاستمرار بدخول مواطني المجلس بجواز السفر وليس بالبطاقة المدنية”.

ولفتت المصادر الى استمرار علاج مواطني الخليج بالمجان في دول مجلس التعاون في حال التشخيص بمرض “كوفيد-19” في أي من دول الخليج.

وذكرت أن هناك تشديداً على تطبيق الإجراءات الاحترازية في دول المجلس من الحجر للقادمين والعزل للمصابين، فضلاً عن “تبادل المعلومات خليجياً فيما يخص السلالات الجديدة والإجراءات الاحترازية التي يتم تطبيقها بكل دولة، ومدى فاعلية فحوصات PCR للكشف عن الفيروسات المتحورة”.

وبينت أن وزارات الصحة بدول الخليج “تقوم بمشاركة معلومات اللقاحات الجديدة، ومدى فاعلية اللقاحات المستخدمة مع مختلف الأعمار، والتحورات والأعراض الجانبية التي يتم رصدها”.

ومؤخراً وضمن مساعيها للسيطرة على فيروس كورونا لجأت معظم دول الخليج إلى إصدار جواز سفر صحي لسكانها الحاصلين على لقاح ضد الوباء؛ بهدف تأمين السفر وجعله أكثر سلامة وسلاسة.

وكانت دول الخليج، من أوائل الدول التي دشنت جواز السفر الصحي، وإصداره لسكانها، بعد تأكيد حصولهم على الجرعة الثانية من لقاح كورونا.
