QRCS provides drinking water in Afghanistan
الهلال الأحمر القطري يوفر مياه الشرب والري في 7 ولايات أفغانية
Doha: Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), through its representative mission in Afghanistan, has concluded a project to provide clean drinking water in south and southeastern Afghanistan, with a total budget of $400,000 (QR1.46m).
More than 1,200 poor families comprising with about 9,000 people are expected to benefit from the project.
QRCS said the project aims to improve the health condition of residents of remote and disadvantaged areas, reduce the spread of diseases and epidemics resulting from the use of polluted or unclean water by providing long-term drinking water, achieve food security, provide agricultural employment and revive the economic standard of the population by providing water for land irrigation.
The statement added that the project has been implemented in 16 regions in seven Afghan states in partnership and coordination with the Afghan charitable educational foundation, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, the Ministry of Agriculture, and their offices in the beneficiary states, in addition to the involvement of village councils and community members in conducting preliminary survey on needs and location of implementation.
انتهى الهلال الأحمر القطري، من خلال بعثته التمثيلية في أفغانستان، من تنفيذ مشروع توفير مياه الشرب النقية في جنوب وجنوب شرقي البلاد، بميزانية إجمالية قدرها 400 ألف دولار أمريكي (ما يعادل 1.46 مليون ريال قطري)، لصالح أكثر من ألف و200 أسرة فقيرة تضم نحو 9 آلاف مستفيد.
وقال الهلال الأحمر القطري، في بيان اليوم الأحد، إن هذا المشروع هدفه تحسين الوضع الصحي للسكان في المناطق النائية والمحرومة وتقليل انتشار الأمراض والأوبئة الناتجة عن استخدام المياه الملوثة أو غير النقية، من خلال توفير المياه الصالحة للشرب على المدى البعيد، وتحقيق الأمن الغذائي وكذلك توفير فرص العمل في الجانب الزراعي وإنعاش المستوى الاقتصادي للسكان، من خلال توفير المياه اللازمة لري الأراضي والحقول الزراعية.
وأوضح أنه تم تنفيذ المشروع في 16 مديرية موزعة على سبع ولايات أفغانية بالشراكة والتنسيق مع مؤسسة الأفغان التعليمية الخيرية ووزارتي تطوير وتأهيل المناطق الريفية والزراعة الأفغانية ومكاتبهما في الولايات المستفيدة، بالإضافة إلى إشراك المجالس القروية وأفراد المجتمع المحلي في إجراء المسح الأولي للاحتياجات وتحديد مواقع التنفيذ.
