Qatar Participates in Conference to Review Global Compact for Safe Migration

Doha: The State of Qatar participated on Wednesday in the regional conference to review the Global Compact for Safe Migration, which was held via video conference technology.
The delegation of the State of Qatar participating in the conference was headed by HE Director of International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Youssef Sultan Larem, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs.
At the conference, the Director of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave a presentation on the national report of the State of Qatar on the progress made in implementing the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
His Excellency affirmed the State of Qatar’s keenness to put the commitments and guidelines contained in the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration into effect on the ground, in the context of its keeping pace with international and regional interest in the issue of migration, and in light of the national constants based on respect for human rights and support for the rule of law and openness regionally and internationally to achieve sustainable development goals at the international level.
His Excellency pointed out that the State of Qatar initiated the formation of a (national task force) with the aim of keeping pace with international efforts in achieving the commitments and goals stipulated in the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (which has a total of 23 goals), and a report was prepared on the follow-up of the implementation of those goals in the State of Qatar as well as a review of the national experience and promising practices in this field.
His Excellency reiterated Qatar’s commitment to continue its efforts to achieve the goals stipulated in the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, and to implement them effectively on the ground, in line with international human rights law and the sustainable development goals.

الدوحة: شاركت دولة قطر، الأمس، في المؤتمر الإقليمي لاستعراض الاتفاق العالمي من أجل الهجرة الآمنة، والذي عقد عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي.
وترأس وفد دولة قطر المشارك في المؤتمر، سعادة السيد يوسف سلطان لرم مدير إدارة المنظمات الدولية بوزارة الخارجية، بمشاركة ممثلين من وزارة الداخلية ووزارة التنمية الإدارية والعمل والشؤون الاجتماعية.
وقدم مدير إدارة المنظمات الدولية بوزارة الخارجية في المؤتمر، عرضاً عن التقرير الوطني لدولة قطر بشأن التقدم المحرز في تنفيذ الاتفاق العالمي من أجل الهجرة الآمنة والمنظمة والنظامية.
وأكد سعادته حرص دولة قطر على وضع الالتزامات والمبادئ التوجيهية التي تضمنها الاتفاق العالمي من أجل الهجرة الآمنة والمنظمة والنظامية، موضع التنفيذ على أرض الواقع، وذلك في سياق مُواكبتها للاهتمام الدولي والإقليمي بمسألة الهجرة، وفي ضوء الثوابت الوطنية القائمة على احترام حقوق الإنسان ودعم حُكم القانون والانفتاح إقليمياً ودولياً لتحقيق أهداف التنمية المستدامة على الصعيد الدولي.
وأشار إلى أن دولة قطر بادرت بتشكيل (فريق عمل وطني) وذلك بهدف مسايرة الجهود الدولية في تحقيق الالتزامات والأهداف التي نص عليها الاتفاق العالمي للهجرة الآمنة والمنظمة والنظامية (التي يبلغ عددها 23 هدفا)، وتم إعداد تقرير بشأن متابعة تنفيذ تلك الأهداف في دولة قطر واستعراض التجربة الوطنية والممارسات الواعدة في هذا المجال.
وجدد سعادته التزام دولة قطر بمواصلة جهودها الرامية إلى تحقيق الالتزامات والأهداف التي نص عليها الاتفاق العالمي للهجرة الآمنة والمنظمة والنظامية، وتنفيذها بصورة فعلية على أرض الواقع، بما يتوافق مع القانون الدولي لحقوق الإنسان وأهداف التنمية المستدامة.
