QF’s Al Shaqab Gears Up to Host Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB

Doha: A star-studded contingent of 85 riders from 27 countries around the world has descended upon Doha to compete in the spectacular Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines 2021 event, which will be held at the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab, from February 25-27.

In addition, 138 horses have arrived in Qatars capital city to take part in the world-class international equestrian competition.

Al Shaqab, a member of Qatar Foundation, is organizing CHI AL SHAQAB for the eighth time, and the much-anticipated event will again see riders participate in the Olympic disciplines of showjumping, dressage, and para dressage.

Swedens Peder Fredrickon, ranked number four in the FEI Longines Jumping Rankings, headlines the riders list, while Olympians and former CHI AL SHAQAB winners Edwina Tops-Alexander (Australia) and Scott Brash (Great Britain) make welcome returns to Doha. Flying the flag for Qatar will be local rider Sultan Salmen Al Suwaidi (showjumping).

At a press conference held at Al Shaqab on February 23 to launch the event, Omar Al Mannai, Event Director, Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines, and Commercial Manager, Al Shaqab, said: “Once again, this amazing event has managed to attract globally respected champion riders and horses to Doha. They love to compete at Al Shaqab, and it shows in the number of riders who keep returning for the event. Al Shaqab has truly achieved its goal of developing an equestrian competition that other organizers aspire to and talk about, and that elite organizations wish to be a part of. This is highlighted by the quality of sponsors and partners who are associated with the event.”

A former international-level showjumper and dressage rider who represented Qatar in the 2006 Asian Games, Al Mannai emphasized the importance of para dressage as a part of Commercial Bank CHI AL SHAQAB Presented by Longines.

He said: ” Al Shaqab continues to include this Olympic discipline in the event not only because our facilities are geared to meet the needs of the participants but, more importantly, they are wonderful role models and sources of great inspiration. We look forward to seeing Qatari riders competing in this discipline in the future.”

In line with the Ministry of Public Healths (MoPH) COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, the venue will be restricted to 10 percent of its capacity. Tickets can be purchased at the venue on event days. As a further precautionary measure, there will not be a Festival Area this year. Fans unable to access the venue can still catch all the action, as the event will be broadcast live on Al Kass TV and beIN Sports, while it will also be live-streamed on Al Shaqabs website, alshaqab.com.

Al Mannai said: “As an organizer, Al Shaqab is proud of the hard work that has gone into making the event a reality in the midst of a global pandemic. But, more than anything else, the health and safety of participants, spectators, and all involved with the event remains Al Shaqabs highest priority. Therefore, with guidance and instruction from MoPH, Al Shaqab has ensured that all necessary COVID-19 precautionary measures are in place, and will be strictly enforced.”

الدوحة: أعلن /الشقب/، عضو مؤسسة قطر، عن اكتمال ترتيبات انطلاق النسخة الثامنة من بطولة /البنك التجاري/ الدولية للفروسية الشقب برعاية /لونجين/، التي ستنطلق فعالياتها بعد غد /الخميس/ وتستمر ثلاثة أيام في ثلاث رياضات للفروسية، وهي قفز الحواجز والترويض، والترويض لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة على ميدان /لونجين/ في /الشقب/، بمشاركة نخبة من أفضل فرسان العالم يصل عددهم إلى 86 فارسا وفارسة، و138 جوادا من 27 دولة.

ويتصدر قائمة الفرسان المشاركين في هذه النسخة من البطولة السويدي بيدر فريدريكون، المصنف رابعا ضمن تصنيفات /لونجين/ لقفز الحواجز في الاتحاد الدولي للفروسية. كما سيعود إلى الدوحة للمشاركة في البطولة كل من الفارسة إدوينا توبس ألكسندر (أستراليا) والفارس سكوت براش (بريطانيا)، وهما البطلان الأولمبيان والفائزان السابقان ببطولة الشقب الدولية، مثلما سيحمل راية قطر في المنافسات الفارس سلطان سالمين السويدي الذي سيشارك في منافسات قفز الحواجز.

وللإعلان عن تفاصيل انطلاق البطولة، عقد /الشقب/ الأمس مؤتمرا صحفيا، قال خلاله السيد عمر المناعي، مدير بطولة /البنك التجاري/ الدولية للفروسية – الشقب، والمدير التجاري لـ /الشقب/، “لقد نجحنا مرة أخرى في استقطاب نخبة من أفضل الفرسان المرموقين عالميا وخيلهم للمشاركة في هذه البطولة الكبيرة، وهم يتشوقون للمنافسة في ميادين /الشقب/.. والدليل على ذلك هو عدد الفرسان الذين يعودون كل عام للمشاركة في هذه البطولة”. وأوضح أن “/الشقب/ حقق بالفعل هدفه المتمثل في تطوير البطولة لتصبح من أهم البطولات العالمية، والتي تطمح نخبة من المؤسسات لأن تكون جزءا منها.. وهذا ما يتجلى في تميز رعاة وشركاء البطولة”، مؤكدا أن /البنك التجاري/ هو الشريك الراعي للبطولة، و/لونجين/ الشريك المقدم، أما شركة /إكسون موبيل قطر/ هي الراعي الرئيسي، ولافتا إلى أنه تم الاتفاق مع صندوق دعم الأنشطة الاجتماعية والرياضية /دعم/ ليكون الداعم للبطولة.

وشدد مدير البطولة، وهو الفارس السابق الذي مارس رياضة قفز الحواجز على المستوى العالمي ومثل دولة قطر في دورة الألعاب الآسيوية عام 2006، على أهمية رياضة الترويض لذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة كجزء هام من منافسات بطولة /البنك التجاري/ الدولية للفروسية – الشقب لعام 2021، مبينا أن “/الشقب/ يستمر للسنة السادسة على التوالي في إدراج هذه الرياضة الأولمبية المهمة ضمن بطولته ليس فقط لأن مرافقه مصممة لتلبي احتياجات المشاركين، بل لأنه يقتدي بطموحاتهم وهم يشكلون مصدر إلهام كبير له، والجميع يتوق لرؤية فرسان قطريين يتنافسون في هذا المجال، في المستقبل القريب”.

وأوضح السيد عمر المناعي، مدير بطولة البنك التجاري الدولية للفروسية – الشقب، والمدير التجاري لـ /الشقب/، أنه تماشيا مع إرشادات وزارة الصحة العامة للوقاية من فيروس /كوفيد-19/، ستقتصر سعة الحضور على نسبة 10 بالمئة من الطاقة الإجمالية للمتفرجين، مضيفا في السياق ذاته “نفتخر في /الشقب/ بالعمل الجاد الذي قمنا به والجهود الجبارة التي بذلناها لجعل هذه البطولة حقيقة وواقعا في خضم الجائحة التي تكتسح العالم، وقد وضعنا المحافظة على صحة وسلامة المتنافسين والحضور وجميع المشاركين في هذه البطولة على رأس أولوياتنا، لذلك فإننا نمتثل لكافة توجيهات وتعليمات وزارة الصحة العامة، وسنحرص على اتخاذ جميع التدابير الاحترازية اللازمة بشأن الفيروس والعمل على تطبيقها بصرامة”.

من جانبه، قال السيد جوزيف ابراهام، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة البنك التجاري، إنه لمن دواعي سرور /البنك التجاري/ أن يكون جزءا من مسيرة نجاح قطر ودعم رؤية الدولة في أن تصبح مركزا عالمي المستوى للفعاليات الرياضية، وذلك من خلال رعايته لبطولة رفيعة المستوى من هذا القبيل.

إلى ذلك، لفت السيد حسين علي العبد الله، مدير عام تنفيذي ورئيس قطاع التسويق في البنك التجاري، إلى تطلع البنك لأن يكون جزءا من هذه البطولة الاستثنائية، مشيرا إلى أن “/البنك التجاري/ يقدر أهمية الرياضة في التنمية الاجتماعية والاقتصادية لدولة قطر، وهو ملتزم بدعم رؤية قطر لتكون مركزا رياضيا دوليا”.

ومن ناحيته، أعرب السيد صالح بن سعد المانع، نائب الرئيس ومدير الشؤون الحكومية والعامة لـ /إكسون موبيل قطر/، عن سعادة الشركة برعاية بطولة /الشقب/ الدولية للفروسية لهذا العام، ودعمها المستمر لبرامج /الشقب/ من خلال شراكتهما التي بدأت منذ تأسيس المركز، مضيفا “إن تعاوننا مع /الشقب/ يلهم الجيل الشاب لتعلم مهارات القيادة والحياة، والتي ستكون مهمة للغاية في اختيار مساراتهم المهنية في المستقبل وخاصة فيما يتعلق بتحقيق رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030” .

وقال “نحن نؤمن بأن مستوى الدعم والالتزام الذي يقدمه صندوق دعم الأنشطة الاجتماعية والرياضية لتطوير الفروسية في قطر له تأثير كبير في تشجيع الفرسان الشباب على متابعة شغفهم بفنون ورياضة الفروسية”.
