Dominic Cummings was spotted running away from Downing Street after news broke that Boris Johnson had coronavirus.
The Prime Minister’s top aide was seen dashing out of the door of Number 10 as the news broke that his boss would be entering quarantine for 7 days.
Wearing a green jacket and carrying a large laptop bag, Mr Cummings ran across Downing Street towards a set of steps at the end of the road, leading to the street’s back gate.
Mr Johnson tested positive for coronavirus yesterday evening.
He developed a cough and a temperature yesterday afternoon and was tested by NHS staff in Number 10.
It’s understood he learned the test had come back positive at around midnight last night.
The Prime Minister’s official spokesman told a Westminster briefing that the PM dialled into the daily morning “war cabinet” meeting from Number 11, and will continue to do so while he is self-isolating.
“He will do the same things but that will be done exclusively via teleconferencing on his part,” the spokesman said.
But Mr Johnson will not appear at Friday’s press conference.
The spokesman said Mr Johnson was self-isolating in his flat above Number 11 Downing Street.
He said: “Number 11 in its entirety will serve as the Prime Minister’s office and his home – he lives above Number 11 in the flat.
“The doors between Number 10 and Number 11 have been closed off to all other staff who work in the building.
“The PM will work from the office and the study in Number 11, which has been kindly vacated by the Chancellor.”

نشرت صحيفة “دايلي ميل” البريطانية صورا لدومنيك كمينجزز كبير مستشاري رئيس الوزراء البريطاني بوريس جونسون وهو يهرب من الباب الخلفي لمقر رئاسة الوزراء البريطانية في (داوننج ستريت) بعد أن أعلن عن إصابة رئيس الوزراء بالكورونا. وقالت الصحيفة إن كمينجز شوهد وهو يهرع مسرعا من البوابة الخلفية للمبنى وهو ما أثار حملة تعليقات طريفة من قبل الجمهور البريطاني الذي تندر على ذلك قائلا إن كمينجز كان يبدو هاربا بعد أن أعلن رئيسه جونسون بأنه مصاب بالكورونا.
وتظهر الصور المنشورة لكمينجز وهو يرتدي جاكيتا أخضر حاملا جهاز لاب توب كبيرا ومنطلقا بسرعة تجاه ساحة انتظار السيارات. في وقت أشارت فيه مصادر إلى أن كمينجز كان حريصا خلال الأسابيع الماضية على عدم السفر عبر قطارات الأنفاق لخوفه من التقاط العدوى وأنه علم على ما يبدو بنتائج الفحص الذي أجري لرئيس الوزراء في وقت مبكر ومن ثم غادر مباشرة. وكان جونسون البالغ من العمر 55 عاما قد قال إن فحصه اثبت أنه مصاب بفيروس الكورونا لكنه أكد على أنه سيواصل أداء مهامه كرئيس للوزراء من عزله المنزلي في وقت تعرض فيه لهجوم من قبل العديد من البريطانيين على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي والذين تساءلوا عن السرعة التي أجري بها الفحص لرئيس الوزراء بينما الآلاف منهم لا يتمكنون من إجراء الفحص اللازم لعدم توافر الإمكانات الكافية لدى الجهاز الصحي.
