1,000 tons of shrimp to be produced annually in Qatar starting next year

Doha: Mr. Ibrahim Salman Al-Hassan Al-Mohannadi, Head of the Aquatic Research Center – Ministry of Municipality and Environment, talked about the production intensity of the shrimp farm expected in 2022, during an interview on Qatar TV with ‘Hayatuna’, Program.

Al-Muhannadi said the foundation stone for the Aquatic Research Center was laid in 2013, and the official opening was in January 2020.

He added that the shrimp farm is located in the northern region – Al-‘Arish, and is considered as a support for the private sector in its investment and support for food security in the country.

He explained that shrimp, in general, is almost entirely imported from abroad, but the shrimp farm as a production farm will provide shrimp. Its production capacity in 2022 will be a thousand tons per year.

Last year, Mr. Al-Mohannadi announced at a press conference at MME that the efforts, the results, and updates of the first production of the Water Research Center of shrimp implementation of the project of the Aquatic & Fisheries Research Centre comes within the framework of the National Vision of The State of Qatar 2030, with the aim of securing the local need for food and promoting work towards achieving self-sufficiency, the most important of which is fish.

الدوحة: صرح السيد إبراهيم سلمان الحسن المهندي، رئيس مركز أبحاث الأحياء المائية – وزارة البلدية والبيئة عن كثافة إنتاج مزرعة الروبيان المتوقعة في 2022، خلال لقاءه على تلفزيون قطر مع برنامج حياتنا.

وأشار المهندي أنه تم وضع حجر الأساس لمركز أبحاث الأحياء المائية في عام 2013، وكان الإفتتاح الرسمي في شهر يناير 2020.

وأضاف أن مزرعة الروبيان تقع في المنطقة الشمالية – منطقة العريش، وتعتبر هذه المزرعة كداعم للقطاع الخاص في استثماره ودعمه للأمن الغذائي في الدولة.

وأوضح أن الروبيان بشكل عام يُستورد تقريبًا تمامًا من الخارج، لكن ستعمل مزرعة الروبيان كمزرعة إنتاج على توفير الروبيان. فستكون طاقة إنتاجها في سنة 2022 ألف طن لكل عام.

وكان قد صرح السيد المهندي العام الماضي خلال مؤتمر صحفي لوزارة البلدية والبيئة أُعلن فيه عن الجهود المبذولة ونتائج ومستجدات باكورة إنتاج مركز الأبحاث المائية من الروبيان أن تنفيذ مشروع مركز أبحاث الأحياء المائية يأتي في إطار رؤية دولة قطر الوطنية 2030، بهدف تأمين الاحتياج المحلي  من الغذاء وتعزيز العمل نحو تحقيق الاكتفاء الذاتي ومن أهمها الأسماك.
