QRCS saves the lives of patients in Gaza

Doha: The Qatar Red Crescent specialist for plastic surgery in the Gaza Strip, Dr. Ahmed Al-Maghribi rescues an elderly man of 65 years of age from an amputation of the foot, as the patient suffered from a previous injury during which he suffered a cut in the ankle tendon at the bottom of the foot, and it resulted in severe sores and lacerations of the tissues, which resulted in the wound remaining open until his arrival in Nasser Medical Complex.

About the details of this serious case, Dr. Al-Maghribi says: “Through follow-up and medical examinations, it was found that the wound was not healing due to the nature of the patient’s body, and the inability of the tissues to heal naturally, which required a surgical intervention that lasted for two full hours of work on the ankle tendon connection, in addition to replacing the skin patch with a skin flap connected to a blood vessel “In order to transfer blood to the affected part, and the wound was cleaned of ulcers and dead tissues to prevent chronic infections leading to an amputation.”

Dr. Al-Maghribi pointed out that the surgery performed is one of the qualitative operations in the Gaza Strip, stressing that the patient is currently being followed up and necessary health care is provided to him within the complex fractures section of the Nasser Medical Complex, after his discharge from the surgery in good health and without any complications, thank God.

It is noteworthy that this surgical intervention comes within the framework of the “support for specialized surgical services in the Gaza Strip” project, which is implemented by the Qatar Red Crescent in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Health there. The project includes the implementation of specialized surgical interventions in the fields of orthopedics, cardiovascular, thoracic and urinary tracts, as well as the implementation of training programs for medical personnel such as the Master of Policy and Health Administration, Diploma of Anesthesia and Intensive Care, and support for patients with phenylketonuria, at a total cost of US $ 1.4 million.

الدوحة: نجح أخصائي الهلال الأحمر القطري للجراحة التجميلية بقطاع غزة د. أحمد المغربي في إنقاذ مسن يبلغ من العمل 65 عاماً من عملية بتر محققه للقدم، حيث كان المريض يعاني من إصابة سابقة تعرض خلالها لقطع في وتر الكاحل أسفل القدم، ونتج عنها حدوث تقرحات شديدة وتهتك في الأنسجة، ما نجم عنه بقاء الجرح مفتوحاً إلى حين قدومه لمجمع ناصر الطبي.

وعن تفاصيل هذه الحالة الخطيرة، يقول د. المغربي: “تبين من خلال المتابعة والفحوصات الطبية عدم التئام الجرح بسبب طبيعة جسم المريض، وعدم قدرة الأنسجة على الالتئام بشكل طبيعي، مما استدعى إجراء تدخل جراحي استمر لمدة ساعتين كاملتين للعمل على وصل وتر الكاحل، إضافة إلى استبدال الرقعة الجلدية بسديلة جلدية مرتبطة بوعاء دموي كي يقوم بنقل الدم إلى الجزء المصاب، كما تم تنظيف الجرح من التقرحات والأنسجة الميتة لمنع حدوث التهابات مزمنة تفضى إلى عملية بتر”.

وأشار د. المغربي إلى أن العملية الجراحية المنفذة تعد من العمليات النوعية في قطاع غزة، مؤكداً أنه يجري حالياً متابعة المريض وتقديم الرعاية الصحية اللازمة له داخل قسم الكسور المعقدة بمجمع ناصر الطبي، بعد خروجه من العملية الجراحية بصحة جيدة ودون أي مضاعفات بحمد الله.

يذكر أن هذا التدخل الجراحي يأتي ضمن مشروع “دعم الخدمات الجراحية التخصصية بقطاع غزة”، الذي ينفذه الهلال الأحمر القطري بالتعاون مع وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية هناك. ويتضمن المشروع تنفيذ تدخلات جراحية متخصصة في مجالات العظام والقلب والأوعية الدموية والصدر والمسالك البولية، إلى جانب تنفيذ برامج تدريبية للكوادر الطبية مثل ماجستير السياسات والإدارة الصحية ودبلوم التخدير والعناية المركزة، ودعم مرضى الفينيل كيتون يوريا، بتكلفة إجمالية للمشروع تصل إلى 1.4 مليون دولار أمريكي.
