Doha: A new study shows that more than a million foreign workers left Britain within one year. Mustafa Al-Bazerkan, the economic advisor in the financial district in London, believes that until the last hours of negotiations there was no clarity, and everyone was cautious and afraid for their jobs, and that is why a large number decided to leave the country avoiding the worst.

He believes that the services sector, which accounts for 72% of the British economy, was the most job impacted. وطالما عُدت لندن المدينة الأفضل لنجاح أنشطة الخدمات؛ إلا أن جائحة كورونا ضربت هذا القطاع في مقتل، بسبب الأشهر الطويلة من الإغلاق، وهذا ما يؤكده جيريمي، العامل الفرنسي الذي حل في لندن قبل 5 سنوات للعمل في أحد الفنادق الشهيرة.

ويرى مصطفى البازركان، المستشار الاقتصادي في الحي المالي في لندن، أنه حتى الساعات الأخيرة من المفاوضات لم يكن هناك وضوح، والجميع كان حذرا وخائفا على وظيفته، ولهذا قرر عدد كبير مغادرة البلاد تجنبا للأسوأ.

ويرى المتحدث ذاته أن قطاع الخدمات الذي يشكل 72% من الاقتصاد البريطاني، كان الأكثر فقدانا للوظائف؛ بسبب قرار مؤسسات مالية وشركات تأمين كبرى نقل مقراتها إلى فرانكفورت وباريس، معتبرا أن هذا الوضع غير المستقر لقطاع الخدمات في لندن سوف يفقدها وضعها العالمي؛ لأن رأس المال جبان، ويبحث عن الوجهات المستقرة.

ومن بين الأسباب التي دفعت العمال الأجانب إلى مغادرة البلاد، هي تعقيد الإجراءات بعد البريكست من أجل العمل في بريطانيا للأجانب.
