24 thousand new jobs in Qatar by 2024

Doha: Microsoft, the world’s only cloud provider with a global cloud infrastructure in more than 60 regions across more than 140 countries, is launching a new data center in Qatar in 2021, with the aim of providing cloud services consistent with the country’s goals and digital transformation.

According to recent studies, this transformation will provide 24,000 new jobs in Qatar by 2024, and a global IDC report found that Microsoft’s partner system, along with Qatar’s dependence on cloud computing, will be able to create this number of jobs.

As part of the Qatar National Vision 2030, Doha seeks to achieve a smart future through a comprehensive digital transformation, according to the official website of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Small and medium startups are important as they are a major engine for innovation, a great supporter of the production structure, and a pivotal tributary in promoting economic growth in the Country.

Lana Khalaf, General Manager of Microsoft Qatar, said – during an interview with CNN – that through the data center, “developers, innovators, institutions and individuals will have the appropriate tools to achieve the elements of innovation, flexibility and digital transformation to enable various sectors and working forces, and addressing important issues in terms of sustainability, emergency changes, and future challenges.”

Khalaf explained that according to the International Data Corporation “IDC”, spending on public cloud services in Qatar is expected to nearly quadruple, to reach $ 228.6 million in 2024, while continuous investments in cloud technologies and increased usage of Cloud Solutions $ 3.14 billion in net new revenue from the public and private cloud over the next five years.

Microsoft is collaborating with Qatar-based technology projects company 360 Nautica, through the “Microsoft for Startups” program, to support current and new startups by enhancing access to the latest technologies, skills, and success in the Digital world economy.

الدوحة: تطلق “مايكروسوفت” وهي المزود السحابي الوحيد في العالم الذي يتمتع ببنية أساسية سحابية عالمية في أكثر من 60 منطقة عبر أكثر من 140 دولة، مركز بيانات جديد في قطر بعام 2021، بهدف توفير خدمات سحابية تتوافق مع أهداف البلاد والتحول الرقمي.

ووفق دراسات حديثة سيوفر هذا التحول 24 ألف وظيفة جديدة في قطر بحلول 2024 ، ووجد تقرير لـ “IDC” العالمية أن منظومة شركاء مايكروسوفت، إلى جانب اعتماد قطر على الحوسبة السحابية سيتمكن من خلق هذا العدد من الوظائف.

وكجزء من رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030، تسعى الدوحة إلى تحقيق مستقبل ذكي عبر تحول رقمي شامل، وفقاً لما ذكره الموقع الرسمي لوزارة المواصلات والاتصالات، ووتُعد الشركات الناشئة الصغيرة والمتوسطة مهمة بصفتها محركاً رئيسياً للابتكار، وداعماً كبيراً للهيكل الإنتاجي، ورافداً محورياً في تعزيز النمو الاقتصادي في البلاد.

وقالت لانا خلف المديرة العامة لـ”مايكروسوفت قطر” – خلال مقابلة مع موقع CNN  – إنه من خلال مركز البيانات “سيتمكن المطورون، والمبتكرون، والمؤسسات، وصولاً إلى الأفراد من امتلاك الأدوات المناسبة لتحقيق عناصر الابتكار، والمرونة، والتحول الرقمي لتمكين شتى القطاعات، والقوى العاملة، ومعالجة قضايا مهمة على صعيد الاستدامة، والمتغيرات الطارئة، والتحديات المستقبلية”.

وأوضحت خلف أنه وفقاً لمؤسسة البيانات الدولية  “IDC”، فإنه من المتوقع أن يرتفع الإنفاق على الخدمات السحابية العامة في قطر إلى أربعة أضعاف تقريباً، ليصل إلى 228.6 مليون دولار في عام 2024، بينما من المتوقع أن تحقق الاستثمارات المستمرة في تقنيات السحابة، وزيادة استخدامات الحلول السحابية 3.14 مليار دولار في صافي الإيرادات الجديدة من السحابة العامة والخاصة على مدى الأعوام الخمس المقبلة.

وتتعاون “مايكروسوفت” مع شركة المشاريع التقنية “نوتيكا 360” التي تتخذ من قطر مقراً لها، عبر برنامج “Microsoft for Startups”، بهدف دعم الشركات الناشئة الحالية والجديدة، وذلك من خلال تعزيز إمكانية الوصول إلى أحدث التقنيات، والمهارات، والنجاح في ظل الاقتصاد الرقمي العالمي.
