Doha: Saudi customs at the Salwa border crossing welcomed those coming from Qatar with a sign reading “You are most welcomed in KSA.”
The move follows the announcement of the opening of the land, air and sea borders between Qatar and Saudi Arabia after three years of gulf crisis that led to the closure of crossings between Doha and Riyadh, according to Kuwait’s Tafteesh website.
Saudi Arabia’s authorities began preparing the Salwa border crossing the night before the Gulf summit in AlUla province, Saudi daily Al-Youm reported.
According to the Saudi newspaper, preparations have been launched to resume the movement of the crossing, which consisted of intensifying the work of decorating and lighting on the highway, as well as intensifying control of shops located on the international highway, in addition to raising awareness of the need to comply with the implementation of precautionary measures and preventive measures to reduce the spread of the new coronavirus.

وتأتي هذه الخطوة بعد قرار الإعلان عن فتح الحدود البرية والجوية والبحرية بين قطر والمملكة السعودية بعد ثلاث سنوات من الأزمة الخليجية التي اسفرت عن إغلاق المعابر بين الدوحة والرياض، بحسب موقع تفتيش الكويتي.
وكانت الجهات المعنية في السعودية بدأت في تجهيز منفذ سلوى الحدودي في الليلة التي سبقت انعقاد القمة الخليجية أمس بمحافظة العلا السعودية، حسب صحيفة “اليوم” السعودية.
وحسب الصحيفة السعودية انطلقت التجهيزات لاستئناف حركة المعبر والتي تمثلت في تكثيف أعمال التزيين والإضاءات على الطريق العام فضلا عن تكثيف الرقابة على المحال التجارية الواقعة على الطريق الدولي بالإضافة إلى التوعية بضرورة الالتزام بتنفيذ الإجراءات الاحترازية والتدابير الوقائية للحد من انتشار فيروس كورونا المستجد.
