For the first time .. Qatar produces 5,000 tons of “yellow gold” in 2021

Doha: Mr. Nasser Ali Al Hajri, Vice Chairman of Al Rayyan Agricultural, revealed that the company has begun to grow organic wheat, the first of its kind in Qatar, in several farms with a target production capacity of 2,500 tons for this season, and production will increase in the coming season to double the current amount of contribution to the food basket of the State of Qatar, and export to neighboring countries.

According to a video report by Al-Jazeera, Qatar has been working for years to boost its food security by reclaiming more land and using the latest global technologies that allow water to be more sustainable without draining groundwater.

The wheat production plan also takes into account reducing production costs while obtaining a globally competitive product, and al-Rayyan Agricultural initiative has provided advanced harvesters, ploughs and axial irrigation systems, and, despite the difficult circumstances of Qatar, like scarcity of water and volatile climate, has been able to produce wheat grains and hard wheat.

In his turn, Engineer Mohamed Aatuna, supervisor at «Al Rayyan Agricultural» that the cultivation of wheat from the beginning until the harvest stage was using agricultural mechanization and modern technology, which contributed to reducing the cost of production, and managing production processes within these farms by remote control, pointing out that it is worth mentioning the application of integrated pest management systems during the season so that the product is healthy and of high quality.

The report follows footage of large areas cultivated with different types of organic wheat with an area of about 4 million square meters, and as a result of advanced technologies, the processes of agriculture are carried out with only two workers to 4 workers, ending the wheat harvest in two to three days.

Such agricultural initiatives and food security projects in Qatar, such as these wheat plantations, achieve a large part of self-sufficiency, enhance local production and provide a safe and healthy strategic stock.

الدوحة: كشف السيد ناصر علي الهاجري، نائب رئيس مجلس إدارة “الريان الزراعية”، أن الشركة باشرت في زراعة القمح العضوي، وهو الأول من نوعه في دولة قطر، في عدة مزارع بطاقة إنتاجية مُستهدفة تبلغ 2500 طن لهذا الموسم ، وسوف ترتفع الإنتاجية في الموسم المقبل لتصل إلى ضعف الكمية الحالية للمُساهمة في السلة الغذائية لدولة قطر، والتصدير للدول المُجاورة.

ووفقا لتقرير مُصور بثته قناة الجزيرة فإن قطر تعمل منذ سنوات على تعزيز أمنها الغذائي باستصلاح المزيد من الأراضي وباستخدام أحدث التقنيات العالمية التي تسمح بزيادة استدامة المياه دون استنزاف المياه الجوفية.

كما تراعي خطة إنتاج القمح تخفيض تكاليف الإنتاج مع الحصول على مُنتج جدير بالمُنافسة عالميًا، وقد وفّرت مُبادرة “الريان الزراعية” حصّادات ومحاريث وأنظمة ري محوري مُتطورة، واستطاعت رغم الظروف الصعبة لدولة قطر، من شح للمياه وملوحتها والمناخ المُتغير، إنتاج حبوب قمح الخبز والقمح الصلب.

بدوره أوضح المهندس محمد عطاونة، المُشرف في «الريان الزراعية» أن زراعة القمح منذ البداية وحتى مرحلة الحصاد كانت باستخدم الميكنة الزراعية والتكنولوجيا الحديثة، ما ساهم في تقليل تكلفة الإنتاج، و إدارة عمليات الإنتاج داخل هذه المزارع عن طريق التحكم عن بُعد، لافتاً إلى أنه من الجدير ذكره  تطبيق نظم الإدارة المُتكاملة للآفات خلال الموسم حتى يكون المُنتج صحي ذو جودة عالية.

ويتابع  التقرير الذي أظهر لقطات لمساحات واسعة تمت زراعتها بأنواع مختلفة من القمح العضو:تبلغ مساحة مزارع القمح حوالي 4 ملايين متر مربع، ونتيجة التقنيات المُتطورة، تتم عمليات الزراعة بالاكتفاء بعاملين إلى 4 عمّال فقط، لينتهي موسم حصاد القمح خلال يومين إلى ثلاثة أيام.

 الجدير بذكره أن مثل هذه المُبادرات الزراعية ومشاريع الأمن الغذائي في قطر، مثل مزارع القمح هذه، تحقق جزءًا كبيرًا من الاكتفاء الذاتي، كما ستعزّز الإنتاج المحلي وستوفر مخزونًا استراتيجيًا آمنًا وصحيًا.
