First Robotics Competition organized by The Scientific Club

Doha: The Scientific Club organized a competition for robot wrestling with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

This competition comes within the activities of the Spring Science Camp, as it was included for the first time, which helped school students to participate during the mid-school vacation period of the current school year.

The competition included age groups from 12 to 16 years of both genders.

The organizing committee of the competition had set a number of conditions. 25 teams participated in the competition; 15 teams were qualified for the second phase.

A specialized jury watched over the competition and applied the criteria for the compatibility of the participating robots in terms of dimensions and weight. Three prizes were set for the first three teams in the advanced category competition and two prizes for the beginner’s level, in addition to three prizes for each category for the best programming design.

The first place (advanced level) went to the Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib School team, the second place went to the Omar bin Al-Khattab Preparatory School team, and the third place went to the Qatar School of Science and Technology team.

At the beginner level, the first place went to Omar bin Al-Khattab Preparatory School team 1. The second place went to Omar bin Al-Khattab Preparatory team 2, while Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib Preparatory School for boys won the third place.

As for the Advanced Design Competition, the first place went to the Qatar Technical School team 2, and in the Design amateur Competition, the Qatar School of Science and Technology team deserved the win.

Regarding the programming contest for beginners, the Qatar Science and Technology Team 1 won first place, and the Qatar Science and Technology Team 2 finished second. In the advanced programming competition, the Qatar Technical School 1 team won in the first place and the second place went to the Qatar School of Science and Technology team.

At the end of the competition, the Scientific Club honored the accredited referees and the participants in the competition arbitration, and the coaches of the qualified teams for the second phase of the competition were also honored.

Sheikh Ali bin Salman Al Thani, Head of the Scientific Activities and Events Department at the Qatar Scientific Club, said in a statement that the competition is a qualitative leap in the course of seasonal activities camps such as the spring camp and the summer camp, especially in light of the current circumstances related to the exceptional measures to combat the Coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19).

For her part, Professor Maryam Al-Awadi, Chair of the Organizing Committee for National Robot Competitions and in charge of robot competitions at the Qatar Scientific Club, emphasized that embracing these competitions, raising the level of challenge, processing, preparing and fully implementing the competition, led to the success of the event and the participation of many teams.

In turn, the participants expressed their desire and enthusiasm to participate in the competition despite the current circumstances.

الدوحة: نظم النادي العلمي مسابقة مصارعة الروبوتات بدعم من وزارة الثقافة والرياضة، وبالتعاون مع وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي.

تأتي هذه المسابقة، ضمن فعاليات مخيم الربيع العلمي، حيث تم إدراجها كأول مرة مما ساعد طلبة المدارس على المشاركة خلال فترة عطلة منتصف العام الدراسي الحالي.

وشملت المسابقة الفئات العمرية من 12 حتى 16 سنة من كلا الجنسين.

وكانت اللجنة المنظمة للمسابقة قد حددت عددا من الشروط، حيث شارك في المسابقة 25 فريقا، تم تأهيل 15 فريقا للمرحلة الثانية.

وسهرت لجنة تحكيم مختصة على المسابقة وطبقت المعايير الخاصة بمدى توافق الروبوتات المشارِكة من حيث الأبعاد والوزن، وتم تحديد ثلاث جوائز للفرق الثلاث الأولى في مسابقة الفئة المتقدمة وجائزتين لمستوى المبتدئ، بالإضافة إلى ثلاث جوائز لكل فئة لأفضل تصميم برمجة.

وفاز بالمركز الأول (مستوى متقدم) فريق مدرسة حمزة بن عبد المطلب، وبالمركز الثاني فريق مدرسة عمر بن الخطاب الإعدادية، والمركز الثالث كان من نصيب فريق مدرسة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا.

وفي مستوى المبتدئ، عاد المركز الأول لفريق مدرسة عمر بن الخطاب الإعدادية1. أما المركز الثاني فكان من نصيب فريق عمر بن الخطاب الإعدادية 2، فيما فاز بالمركز الثالث فريق مدرسة حمزة بن عبدالمطلب الإعدادية للبنين.

أما بالنسبة لمسابقة التصميم متقدم، ففاز بالمركز الأول فريق مدرسة قطر التقنية 2، وفي مسابقة التصميم مبتدئ، فكان الفوز مستحقا لفريق مدرسة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا 2.

وبخصوص مسابقة البرمجة مبتدئ، ففاز فريق قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا1 بالمركز الأول، وحل ثانيا فريق قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا2. أما في مسابقة البرمجة متقدم فذهب المركز الأول لفريق مدرسة قطر التقنية1 والمركز الثاني لفريق مدرسة قطر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا.

وقام النادي العلمي في نهاية المسابقة بتكريم الحكام المعتمدين والمشاركين في تحكيم المسابقة، كما تم أيضاً تكريم مدربي الفرق المؤهلة للمرحلة الثانية من المسابقة.

وقال الشيخ علي بن سلمان آل ثاني، رئيس قسم الأنشطة والفعاليات العلمية في النادي العلمي القطري في تصريح له، إن المسابقة تعتبر نقلة نوعية في مسار مخيمات الأنشطة الموسمية كمخيم الربيع والمخيم الصيفي خصوصاً في ظل الظروف الراهنة المتعلقة بالإجراءات الاستثنائية لمكافحة جائحة كورونا /كوفيد ـ 19/.

من جهتها، أبرزت الأستاذة مريم العوضي رئيسة اللجنة المنظمة لمسابقات الروبوت الوطنية ومسؤولة مسابقات الروبوت بالنادي العلمي القطري، بأن احتضان هذه المسابقات ورفع مستوى التحدي والتجهيز والاستعداد والتنفيذ الكامل للمسابقة، أدت إلى نجاح الحدث ومشاركة الكثير من الفرق.

بدورهم، أبدى المشاركون رغبتهم وحماسهم للمشاركة في المسابقة رغم الظروف الحالية.
